If you're just starting out in leathercraft, you may be wondering, "What punches do I need to get started?" In this video, Chuck goes over a few of the best punches and size options to have in your tool kit. Many of these punches are extremely versatile and can be used a few different ways in our projects, giving us lots of ways to get creative!
Pro Tip: Make sure to always punch on your poly cutting board, rather than directly onto your marble to avoid damaging your punches.

A tip for those who have trouble lining up an end punch so that it is centered. I lay the punch down, centered on the strap. Then carefully lift it up to position and whack it. Haven’t mishit one since I’ve been doing it this way.

Could you do a video on matching size of the edge stitching groover to the size of thread? I'm looking into picking up a stitching groover for my leatherwork but I'm uncertain what would be suitable for my applications. (0.6 mm Ritza)

Great video, thx Chuck. I like the corner knives, especially for folks like me who want to work more quietly in an apartment vs a house. What design of a tool pouch would work for the corner knives?

What about Lacey and chisels? Could you do a video on those? Anything special to note or Ken just standard diamond chisels be used? f

I believe it would be helpful if a center mark was machined to the outside of the tool. Just a simple scribe line. I mark all my tools this way and it really helps

I have a question I have yet to find an answer on the internet for; How do I keep my thread clean whilst stitching? There are always some leather bits entangled in there, that make the thread go dirty after about 50 stitches. When I look at videos and other people's work, their threads seem to remain clean all the way through. Right now I solve this dilemma with watering the piece once I finished stitching and then applying the color I want, but there has to be a another/better way to do it. Thanks to anyone who can help me 🙂

Hi there, do you dye the leather before or after stitching?
@Fuerwahrhalunke

@@WeaverLeatherSupply Hey there! It doesn't matter. If I do it before, it's purely leather fabric in the thread, it I do it after, it's leather fabric and dye. Can't seem to keep the thread clean no matter when I stitch 🤔
