I think the “All the stories you heard are true” line is funnier if you imagine the context of Landon having left for Mexico long before any of these dime novels sensationalising his life were written and he thinks the image John has of him is a legendary but grounded and accurate one, and he has no idea he’s saying that the deliberately over the top FanFiction is the reputation he has back in the states is what’s real. 😂

Here come all the comments about how ricketts should be the protagonist of rdr3. You know ignoring the redemption part, the fact he’s clearly always been on the lawful side of gunslingers, and ruining all the mystery surrounding the character. Not including the fact the stories are about the death of the west, not the height of it.

I always liked that Rickets seemed to understand who is. There isn’t an overt sense of pride but not one of shame either just a man who does what he does and tries to do what he feels is good.

Ah good old Landon! Of all the gunslingers in the games i think Mr. Ricketts may be my favorite....he just seems so much more genuine and real than the others, like maybe he could've been a real person

He is a second best character a.k.a. mentor from RDR.

Landon Ricketts serves as both an amalgamation of various historic western figures and at the same time a sort of metaphor for the actor who portrayed the character. Ross Hagen was a working actor, he had bit roles or supporting roles in western movies, TV shows and dramas. In a way he never really got his big break until he got older but his big role as Landon Ricketts is a sort of chapter end and metaphor for the passing away of the old west as fact and into legend and then mythos of and for the proud American identity, it also serves as a sort of book end for a chunk of silver age hollywood that no longer exists today sadly. If anyones curious, Landon is an amalgamation of "wild" Bill Hickok, Wyatt Earp and Buffalo Bill Cody.

What if RDR3 was about Landon Ricketts. What a game that would be!

I think the point about Landon being in the Blackwater Massacre is de facto retconned/decanonised. 2 gives us absolutely zero reason to think anyone outside the immediate VDL gang and the Pinkertons were involved, save civilians like Heidi McCourt, and if an infamous gunslinger like Ricketts was there, someone would have brought it up once in the course of the game. It’s a consequence of changing the Blackwater Massacre into what it became for 2’s story, but it is nevertheless the case that it’s pretty much impossible to think Ricketts was somehow involved and the other survivors/perpetrators of the massacre never mentioned “Hey Arthor, did you know the most famous gunslinger of our time helped us get off the ferry in Blackwater.”

Slim Grant is also on a famous gunslinger card. Slim became a gun slinging law man. Then state martial. Landon waa a gunslinger but I'm sure ive read somewhere in eithee RDR1 or 2 that he was a bounty hunter at one point. I'll have to see if i can find it again.

James was kind of an asshole and a bully according to Snape because he grew up spoiled,popular and rich even Lilly didn't like him until thier 7th year at Hogwarts when he became head boy and was more mature .Dumbledore wanted Harry to be humble so that's why he choose the Dursleys because they hate magic and would abuse him making him humble and not an asshole like James The Bond of Blood Charm was just an excuse to make himself feel better he knew that Voldemort wasnt returning for another 13 years.He even said it in The Philosopher's Stone:Harry needs to grow up away from all the fame and attention until he is ready.They literally could have chosen anyone else like The Weaslys,Andromeda and Ted Tonks or some other Members of The Order Of The Pheonix and Harry still would have been humble and protected from Voldemort.I think even Voldemort would have raised him better than the Dursleys Voldemort would have let him use his magic.The Dursleys could have literally killed Harry because if he wasn't rebeling against them and suppressed his magic instead . He would have become an Obscurus and would have died like Ariana Dumbledore .Things the HP movies should have been added and changed.
