I get that the media didn't like T.O., but if we're just talking about on-the-field performance, there was no reason whatsoever that he shouldn't have been a first ballot Hall of Famer
he was better off the field than Ben Roethlisberger, Josh Brown, and Antonio Brown. 0:55 didn't have a girlfriend until I was 25, being a late bloomer is great given more income, a sharper brain and hopefully more maturity (though you need experience for seeing red flags). Cool Intro.
Absolutely. He was great year after year. His "issue" was that he had a big mouth, but it pales in comparison to other guys, I mean he didn't shoot anyone like Mar...*gunshots fired, ducks*
Agreed. The media spited him for being outspoken. To me the greatest wr to ever run routes beside Jerry rice. Randy moss not a better wr than TO just faster.
The most disrespected legend of all-time. Was forced to retire because no one wanted to pick him up. Inducted into the Hall in his 3rd year of eligibility. Left out of the NFL 100 All-Time Team. Continuously shunned by the media. This dude deserves more love, even with the bad image that he has.
And if we're honest: The only dude who ever had a shot a coming a close to Jerry's record! He been out the league now for what, 10 Years? He still looks like he could step on the gridiron and put up 500 yards on the season!
I'll never forget the year that T.O. and Chad Johnson played on the same team. To have two of the greatest characters in NFL history together and starting at the same position was something else
I remember when the 49ers drafted JJ Stokes, I thought they were going to be very tough at WR; but it was a 3rd rounder in Terrell Owens who wound up being the extremely productive wide receiver that made the 49ers WR unit one of the better ones in the '90s and 2000s.
If they're still searching for his greatest play, I'll nominate something a little different. In 1998 week 1, SF won a game in OT when RB Garrison Hearst scored on an epic 98 yard run. Hearst doesn't complete that run without T.O. hustling downfield and throwing a key block. Terrell displayed great second effort there. He may have been a knucklehead, but on gameday Owens gave it everything he had when on the field.
T.o was always a great blocker and physical. That 98 opener vs the jets I was in 6th grade at my grandpa softball tournament in the foothills outside Sacramento. I listened to it on KNBR 680 I was going nuts on that run. Hearst was my favorite Player. When he tore up his ankle vs the falcons on opening drive of the playoffs that year i was devastated we all were he was having a great season and I hated the dirty bird. We were still contenders in 97 and 98 that was the last of the niners run after that we were ok for a few years but not real SB threats.
There were some crazy feuds between him and Steve Mariucci in 2002. There was the time he was upset that the Niners didn't try and score despite winning the game and being in a victory formation situation in the fourth quarter. There was the time he was upset that Mariucci ran out the clock at the end of the first half of the divisional round against Tampa Bay (which he had every right to be upset about that). Talk about a rocky relationship
NFL Films doing a sculpture of prime T.O in San Francisco is legendary...as trash as the face was on it cause t.o. looked nothing like that facially but the sculptor did a great job with the rest. Greatest receiver of his generation
That's because TO respected Steve, so much so that he referred to him as "Sir" (which is quite uncharacteristic of him) during his first 3 seasons with the 49ers.
@@aaronjackson9385 - TO played on a broken leg in that super bowl and balled out while McNabb threw up in the huddle and choked that game away. Remember when McNabb threw an INT to Rodney Harrison, but it was called back for a defensive penalty, so on the next play McNabb threw an interception to Rodney Harrison? T.O. stepped up and supported Romo many times, including the "That's my QB". T.O. was one of those guys who is always open, even when he was covered, and his QBs didn't trust him enough in tight windows despite showing he could get it done.
One of the most misunderstood & disrespected GREAT all time players the nfl has ever seen. To this day does not get the credit get deserves for the impact he had on the way the game was played, especially from the WR position but mostly for the work ethic and the work he put into the game. As a Giants fan I can only say that T.O. was a Giant killer I hated seeing him go up against us. This guy the ultimate possession receiver and his mark on the game should no longer be denied.
@@rinowatson if your wide receivers like Terrell Owens are dropping passes you can't win games just like Barry Sanders had more carries for negative yardage than anyone else in history you cannot consistently win dropping passes or losing yardage
You better pick your pants up the always treat us like that. Look how the sculpture came out looked nothing like T.O I don't think he even look at T.O he gave the sculpture what he assumes to be black features nappy hair and big lips smh
