Great stuff! I found this on a FB location-sound group. One wag there said, "My half-day rate is the same as my full-day rate, but overtime starts after five hours." :-)
Love this! As the owner of a small production company in Florida, I can relate to everything you said! I never agree to a half-day shoot, only full day rates! Love your content and proud to say I am subscriber 104!
Entertaining and accurate! I can’t seem to explain this to people enough, but I’ll probably just send them this video when they ask about half day rates.
PREACH! I am a still photographer. (Primarily celebrity & Entertainment) Everything you are saying here rings true. Even the smaller side of the fence, 99% of the time, the HDS is NOT worth it.... and it is NEVER a cradle to grave half day.
I might have wee'd myself a bit at "Kevin's in a meeting, but I'll ask him if there are any more lines when he gets out..." This as I thought about standing in the California desert with second-tier talent getting angry at the delay on an "HDS," despite a request for lines a week prior from a certain team. I emailed and texted "Kevin" all while fire ants crawled up my legs; he did not sense the urgency for just one. line. of. copy. It was like Groundhog Day! Two other thoughts. The number of scenarios like these experienced by your fans could be turned into a Reddit thread. Also, for all the times I was the "super nice, I promise it won't be that bad client," and you and your sidekicks know which gigs I'm talking about, I am profoundly sorry.
