This is probably one of the best commentary of the entire event, like great runner/couch interaction.

I never knew Link's Awakening had such a following. This is the Zelda that I grew up with. It's awesome to see it get this kind of attention!

A good fast one is cool,but a great commentary and friends who you can tell are really having fun makes a run better then even the more technical runs

in my opinion the best run of SGDQ 2016.

Definitely the best, funniest, and most genial run I've ever watched. And mad skills, too. Hats off to the runner & the couch!

I count myself fortunate enough to have had a gb printer as a kid. That thing really amplified the sense of wonder I got out of this game.

Having this game on a car ride as a kid was mind blowing.

You can tell that these people really enjoy the game, from the way they joke about it to the in depth explanations (that might sometime just be "we don't know"). Really entertaining run.

If I am correct beating the game without dying Malon turns into a seagull before the island goes bye bye and she lives her dream of flying around or whatever.

When I ran this game back in the day, I found the staircase under the water on the one side, so I thought "what if theres another secret on the other side HOLY CRAP I GOT A HEART PIECE"

This is a really fun speedrun and great commentary. I live the inside jokes and good-natured ribbing.

Speaking of things runners didn't know until ages into running... the floor slime monsters in the color dungeon become invincible if you bump them with a shield

I found that heart piece @51 by exploring every single square of water. I also dug up every single square in the game in order to make sure I didn't miss anything. I didn't have many friends as a kid.

This run not only makes me want to play the game again, but it also makes me want to run it...

I'm shocked when they said that speedrunners did not know until a week before this run that the red tunic speeds up picking up objects with the power braclet. I've known it for years upon year ever since I first chose the red tunic in the game and noticed that Link picks stuff up faster.

I just finished this live last night. Took me a total of nine hours, with one session clocking in at about six and a half hours.

So awesome. Love this game (memories playing at grandma's with no games in sight other than my gameboy). So fantastic game, fantastic commentary, and slick fun looking game play. Also that super jump looks so fun I will try it next time I play.

2019 now, I finally watch this run and realize they found out that red tunic picks up rocks faster in a 2016 speedrun. I already new this! I thought everyone else already knew this! Did anyone else know this before hand?

The guy Richard that takes a picture with Link looks like Prince Richard from Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru or For Frog the Bell Tolls, a gb game that uses the same engine as Link's Awakening. Maybe it's a reference? If it is..that's really cool.

It's interesting that you left level 6 till last. I remember level 6 as the one (apart from levels 1, 2 and 3 obviously) that you can access before you've even completed level 3 (without exploiting any glitches). But I don't think I've ever tried *completing* the levels out of sequence - maybe I should give it a go some time.

I've played this through about 5 times and i don't think i found more than one of the photos 😂

So i have multiple questions and I'm about to go on a little bit of a rant so strap in. I am EXTREMELY new to this whole speedruning thing, I've only ever beaten super Mario bros 1 in like 10 minutes and fairune in about a hour and a half. I've been wanting to speedrun links awakening for about 20 minutes now and have been doing research, only thing is the only way i can do it is either on my families switch which would be the remake or my game and watch. Every speedrun I've seen has mostly been on DX and not the original. So basically my questions are 1. Are DX and original speedruns the same? 2. Is speedruning links awakening on the game and watch a good idea/is it doable? 3. What other games are easy to speedrun for beginners? And that's all folks. Sorry if this seems super jumbled and a mess it's almost the middle of the night.

Hey! I'm early! That's never happened before! Jokes and stuff aside, this run was great. Crowd was great, runner was great, person reading the donations was great...honestly, the only thing that WASN'T great was the thing known as "Twitch Chat." But even then, chat was tame during this run, I think.

I bought this game when I was a kid, I bought it on a day trip to Germany...The game was in German... I didn't speak that when I was a kid, so I could never get past that dang walrus. back in the early nineties it was very few people who had access to the internet so I couldn't just go find a guide online. :P
