It just occurred to me that old link would be fucking terrifying. He has a literal century worth of experience of fighting monsters and its quite clear based on his build that his body, if at all increased in overall strength, and link who already had a butt ton of techniques in botw with 80 years to hone his techniques and discover new ones? Just... Holy shit...

I've been thinking recently about how much of a paradox this songs existence is in the game. You only know the song because you learned it from a guy in the future who apparently learned it from you in the past, and you were only able to teach him the song in the past because you learned it from him in the future. It just goes around and around like a windmill.

Ganon's been reincarnated early, and Link has yet to die. He takes up the Master Sword and Hylian Shield one last time to fight the king of evil. And he's fucking _pissed._

Imagine if one of Link's incarnations lived long enough to see two Ganon incarnations, and he spends his entire second adventure thinking, "I'm too old for this shit..." While absolutely annihilating Ganon.

Now I just want a very grim and dark Zelda game where Link lost but as he ages he finds his future reincarnation and that inspires this old grizzled link to finally do what he must, there is no more princes to save, no more kingdom to save, now its personal with Gannon, he must end the cycle finally by doing what’s right, not just trapping gannons spirit, but he must end the cycle, by ending gannons rebirth cycle he also ends his own, but as he lays down in victory he has truly gained nothing, except the knowledge that the future generations will finally live in peace, but they won’t know why, there was nobody to remember the battle, it was just a battle of nobodies fighting of what is now nothing.... the perfect way to end the legend of Zelda....

As the old blacksmith hung his hammer on the peg at the edge of his forge, he breathed a deep sigh of relief for another uneventful day in his small town. As he hung his dusty leather apron on the peg beneath an old dusty sword and shield, he walked over to the town pub to grab an ale and some bread before he turned in for the night. The old but still youthful blacksmith entered the pub, grabbed an open spot at a large table near the bar, and signaled for his usual. As the barmaid delivered his order and he paid her, a small boy burst through the door, he yelled for his father, telling everyone that moblins were invading the edge of the village and that dark clouds were blowing in. Panic set about the room, no one noticed the blacksmith rise from his bench, he dusted off his white pants, cleaned his green tunic, and walked to the door of the tavern. The patrons yelled for him to stop, that it was dangerous to go out alone, but when the blacksmith turned back to face them, one hand clutching the door to the pub, the fire burning in his old eyes set them back on their heels, it was the look an old wolf wore, it spoke of a warrior who had yet to fight his last battle, he gave them a nod and ripped the door open. When he did, a fairy was waiting, they had seen fairies before, but this one seemed old, it glowed with a dim blue light. They all watched from the doorway and windows, as the smith walked across the street, he threw his leather apron to the ground and pulled the old sword and shield free of the peg they had adorned for nearly three decades. Wiping the dust free of the glimmering blue blade, and giving the shield a quick shine and test to make sure it was worthy of battle, the smith equipped his items and walked to the center of the wide dirt street, pulling out a blue ocarina the smith played a sweet soothing melody that seemed to echo off far into the distance. As if in response to his call, a low fog blew in from the east, and a horse with a glistening brown coat, and silver moonlit hair galloped out of the fog to stand before the smith, as the smith turned his back to the pub, exposing the bright blue and silver shield, with red and white markings on it to the viewers, he reached out and placed a hand on the horse’s nose, and only the boy who had announced the monsters, who had followed him outside heard what he said to the mare. “Thank you for holding it old friend”, as he pulled his hand away a shining yellow triangle was hovering over his hand. The mayor could be heard inside the pub answering questions, “no Martha, that shield bears the symbol of the last royal family”. Outside the grey-haired smith climbed upon the mare’s saddle and drew his marvelous shining blade with his right hand, he grasped the reins with his left hand, and spurred the steed, who reared back, flailing powerful feet defiantly, they charged off towards the dark clouds hovering over the town. All the townsfolk could see as he rode off through the streets to the west was the flashing of a shining blue sword, and the terrorized sound of howling moblins marking his path.

An Old Man Link game would be amazing and epic, an older experienced Link, scarred and disillusioned from his many adventures and the death of his Zelda years before, battling Ganon in a dystopian Hyrule, but not to improve and fix the land, but rather to just stop it from getting worse and opening the way for hope to be inspired in others as the new generation's Zelda is finally born, kind of like a swan song for the hero where you don't know if he truly will live or die at the end, even if he wins!

"It's all gotten so...." he paused for a moment, as if seeking the answer to a great mystery. "Dull." he completed. "Trust me, I get that." his first guest replied, as his second nodded quietly. "No matter how many times we do this, nothing ever really changes" came the voice of his second guest, his first soon chimed up. "In the end, it all comes down to the three of us." he paused, anger in his eyes grew, and was cooled as his third guest put her hand on his shoulder. He watched silently, the three of them quietly drinking from their cups of tea. After a minute, he spoke. "Do... Do you think that, maybe sometime, somewhere down the line, we could be, if not friends, then at least allies?" He was met with a pregnant silence as his guests seem to consider his words. "I-" his first guest began, then stopped and sighed. "I honestly don't know. It may happen somewhere, sometime long after here and now, but I don't really care that much right now." His guests finished their tea and set down their cups. He stood, his own, forgotten, half full and now cold. "So then," he walked to the door, grabbing up a sheathed sword that leaned against the wall, before opening it "Shall we finish this?" he called back over his shoulder. With a quiet nod, his guests stood.

Oh man, that would be so cool! Imagine if this link has already stopped ganon once in his life, but ganon was reincarnated early, and he had to fight him again, because he realizes that even if he dies, there won’t be enough time for another hero to be born and grown up before countless deaths mar the land of hyrule. He really doesn’t want to fight again, but he feels like he has no choice.

I like how it starts off slow, just like a real storm builds up its mass before letting loose.

I'd love to see a game with old link. I imagine he would be tired of fighting monsters and all, but at the same time, he just can't leave people to suffer.

Can we just make a fan comic where Link didn't use the shrine of resurrection, and instead wandered around regaining his strength over the 100 years of calamity? Or spent 30 years after the shrine of resurrection preparing to take out Ganon... or looking for a successor and finally saying "Well F*** it, if no one else is gonna fight Ganon I may as well come out of retirement..."

25 years ago, that may have given him a shiver down his spine. Today, it's just another afternoon after brunch.

Part one: The Legend Lives. This takes place after ocarina of time in the adult timeline. After the defeat of Ganondorf, Link and Zelda were married. Zelda, by some cruel trick of fate was unable to have children, and when she eventually perished. Link was alone. After leaving the castle, Link lived for 14 years in the wilderness, and the kingdom continued on. The panicked cries of a young woman ring out through the moonlit forest as a girl around 14 flees from stalfos. Link is having a nightmare about if he had failed to defeat Ganon, the screams of princess Zelda filling his dreams. Link wakes up in a cold sweat, yet the screams continue, he gets out of bed and takes up a sword and the hylian shield that are mounted on his wall, and takes out his tunic, folded neatly in his dresser, along with his items. The girl trips on a root and falls, the stalfos quickly gaining on her, suddenly, one falls to the ground in a splintered pile, the next getting an arrow through the back of its skull, the remaining two grab the girl and move into a moonlit clearing. A boulder that should be immovable is hurled into the clearing, nearly crushing the stalfos, Link steps into the clearing with his sword drawn, the courage and wisdom pieces of the triforce glowing on his hand, and the monsters charge, Link uses his free hand to shoot the long shot into the shield hand of one of the stalfos and rip it off, he ducks and flips as if he were still a young man, the monsters not getting a scratch on him, and link cleaves them both in 2. Link turns to the young lady, recognizing Zeldas eyes and says “it’s dangerous to go alone, come with me, princess.” End of part one. Part two: The Return of the Hero Zelda had been on her own for a month, they had never been so fast or coordinated, they were growing stronger, no, He was growing stronger. Link led the young girl through the woods without a word, his silent demeanor had changed little since his youth, he only said what was worth saying. “Hey, where are we going?” Zelda asked. While a fair question, Link didn’t have an answer worth saying, so he said nothing. “Who are you?” Zelda asked after a time. “Link.” While technically an answer, it wasn’t a particularly helpful one. “Why did you save me?” Zelda asked, becoming increasingly annoyed with the old man’s avoidance of conversation. Link had no answer to this that he could put a finger on, the night could play tricks and he usually ignored anything that wasn’t close. He said nothing. “Okay, what is your deal, you have said a total of ten words to me in the entire time I’ve known you, you somehow know I’m the princess, and is that a royal wedding ring? Where did you get that?” “From a wedding.” Link said. The memories of Zelda and him in their youth flooding back. They brought hyrule into a golden age with their leadership, and helped all live in peace. He remembered the day that he was married, the extravagant decor and beautiful music were surely nice, but Zelda was all he truly cared about. Snapping back into the present, they had arrived at their destination, links old house in kokiri forest, link said, “we’re here, take these.” He threw the kokiri sword, the boomerang, and the slingshot at her. He then added “we still have much to do, tell me, have you unlocked your potential as a safe yet?” “What does that even mean?” Zelda asked Link merely sighed and led them through the lost woods. The sound of an ocarina grew louder as they continued, until they reached a clearing with a girl who looked younger than zelda, playing a song. “Who is that?” Zelda asked “An old friend.” Link responded End of part two Note: I know I didn’t add all that much, but the chapter was already dragging on, so I thought it best to end it sooner rather than later. Expect a little bit of a wait for part three, school work is making it difficult to find the time to write this. Look forward to part three: Sage Of The Forest

Holy balls man...that is an epic looking Link, he's ready to go. Master Sword, Hylian Shield, Bow and quiver full of arrows, and a belt of throwing daggers. That would be an epic version of Link to play as, just a grizzled old man who is forced into being the hero cause no one else is brave enough or skilled enough to do the job so this time he's not taking any chances and has a few more weapons than exploration based items.

In this timeline Link plays a mystical axe with strings that summons natural disasters. Zelda is a cannibal valkyrie. And Gannon speaks solely in explosions.

Imagine the "original" Link not being able to protect the Princess. With her giving him the Power of Wisdom with her dying breath, he fled from Hyrule. Years later, he gets found in a cave by a young boy reminding of himself. "What's your name?", the old man asked. "My name is -Atreus- -Loki- Link.", answered the young one. The old man stands up:"It's dangerous to go alone. Come with me!" Starting: *_"God _**_-father-_**_ of War: Link"_*

Perfect music doesn't exi-

imagine, An old grizzled link, on the verge of becoming the heroes shadow, (from twilight princess) picks up his sword one last time, not for hyrule, not for the world or any other, but for the sake of a single village, his post retirement home, attacked by bandits, wild monsters and a corrupted kingdom no longer under zeldas control, heavy taxes, mafia methods of collection and constant abuse of authority. A game where human enemies are more dangerous than any moblin or stalfos, BotW styled gameplay with less magical elements but it could work, it'd be a bit like majoras mask but with a central base of operations, more power based fighting given the grizzled age and old bones, stalfos gear being obtainable just to fit it into canon, the heroes shadow from twilight princess, could end up a bit like a fantasy version of a completed MGV, I hear Kojimas not with konami anymore.

This is the REAL link the one who fell asleep for 100 YEARS and woke up to save hyrule

Old Man Link game for next Nintendo machine. And make it dark, so dark. Ganon's won, Zelda's dead, and Link, alive and questing so long after the Hero normally has won, is tired. Tired of the monsters, tired of the puzzles, tired of the misery and fear on the faces of the populace, he's just tired of it all. And at the end, Old Man Link stands victorious but wounded, a Hero to the masses, and he hands the Master Sword and his shield to a little boy we'd seen throughout the game in a gesture symbolic of a passing of the torch as we have no idea if Old Man Link will live much longer or if the boy will have need of the Hero's gear in days to come. Yeah, Old Man Link, with his epic beard and icy gaze, a grizzled veteran of too many battles, he's seen too many good, skilled soldiers and would-be heroes fall, lost too many friends and his true love who may or may not have been Zelda. Yeah, I'd play the hell out of that Zelda game. Oh, Nintendo would never do it, of course, but I can dream, damn it!

This gives me an idea. Make a game with old link, he has the ocarina, but there is only one song, the song of age. Basically it allowed link to become three different ages, kid link, adult link, and old link. It would be used to solve different puzzles, for instance kid link is much shorter, so you play the song and kid link is used to fit into smaller places, but kid link's attacks aren't as strong as adult or old links. See what I mean? Old link is also bigger and stronger, so he would be used to push boulders, step on larger buttons, and defeat stronger enemies, and then adult link is in the middle. He's smaller than old link, so he can fit into some smaller places, he's stronger than kid link, so he has a better attack, and can push/pull bigger objects. That would be fucking awesome

Just imagine- link had thought his fighting days were over now that he was old, but then the calamity starts once again and the mighty forgotten legend comes back with a sick ass beard and a kick butt attitude

The old man looks at the boy and then rises from where he had sat and walks toward an old chest. As he walks he mentions that he is too old to fight the king of darkness, So he must stay here in the village and help how he can. As he opens the chest he mentions how the young man was very brave to come to him despite the dangers in the darkness. From chest he pulls out a sword, a family relic. As he turns around, young man notices faded green cloth hidden under the old man's robes The old man offers him the sword and says, "It's dangerous to go alone. Take this."

Imagine a game where Link is old, but not just old, doubtful. Doubtful if he should keep fighting evil. Does it really make a difference? Defeat Ganon once, and he comes right back. Is it worth Link's time? Has he wasted his younger years? In this game, Link learns that a true hero doesn't just have courage, he has hope, an unwavering hope. Hope that someday, things will get better, if he just keeps fighting, keeps battling against the forces of evil. Throughout most of the game, you play as a small group of ragtag young heroes, trying to take down Ganon (or maybe a new villain) and restore Hyrule. But, of course, this group is only able to delay the inevitable. Ganon becomes too powerful for them, and is threatening to plunge Hyrule into eternal darkness. Then, out of the shadows, the sound of a charging horse hits everyone's ears. Out of the shadows comes an old Link, armed with the Master Sword and a look of renewed determination. With the young group's help, they defeat Ganon!
