The Zelda team has one guy locked in a room by himself and knocks on his door every 6 years when they need a song that will only play in the trailer yet eclipse almost the entire OST.
Actually the composer for this (and the 2017 BotW trailer) is the lead composer for the games as well! Her name is Manaka Kataoka, and she's fucking awesome.

Honestly, if she becomes Koji Kondo's true successor for the series, I won't complain at all! Also, shout out to the arranger of both trailer themes, Kosuke Yamashita. Apparently, he actually works for Monolithsoft. He joined the company after he composed the OST for the anime adaptation of "Xenosaga Episode I". Which as a decades long "Xeno" fan, kind of blows my freaking mind.
They obviously had to, can you imagine the hype of people who played OCOT and loved every second of it, finding out that there was going to be a sequel? This is that, But on steroids, mighty simmered fruit, and phantom armor
Nintendo always has a go big or go home attitude with Zelda, music and gameplay. I look forward just as much to the music as the actual game. Legend of Zelda has got to be the absolute best console game series ever conceived.
Jesus Christ that saxophone part around the 2 minute mark is just pristine. The entire song is pristine but that part especially never fails to give me goosebumps
Every time I come back for a listen get chills. It's a fantastically written piece of music, but the erhu over that section really does it for me. The sax is the focal point, but the erhu adds all the background feel for me.
Imagine telling someone about your favorite song and they're like "where in the soundtrack is it, and where can I find it in game?" And you have to inform them that it is not in fact in the game
As a lifelong fan of the Zelda games, hearing the actual main motif at 2:54 made me absolutely cry. It’s that power that a connection with the franchise for years builds up and holy moly. I love it so much.
Me too man, me too. It’s like when you hear the main Zelda theme you know shit is serious. And I love the new chord resolve they did at the end of the motif. It’s so good. Makes me cry too
I am as well a long time Zelda fan. (Even though the first Zelda game i played was Ocarina of Time) I have been for about seven years now. I agree though. That part in my opinion, is the best part. 😁
Not a made up story!- I was driving down the highway blasting this ost and four huge macaws grouped and flew next to my car windows as I drove. Stayed with me for a good mile. It was a fuckin fantastical movie moment
“But you’re not alone” hits hard. Link isn’t the only one facing this upheaval. Not to mention he isn’t the only one fighting Ganon’s army. We see soldiers of many races standing up to Ganon’s army and aren’t gonna run away anymore. They wanna risk their lives to protect hyrule. Not to mention the sages have their avatars to protect Link and they show up in hyrule castle and in gloom’s lair to show that link isn’t alone and that he doesn’t have to fight by himself according to Tulin. That’s one think I liked about this game. To directly fight alongside the people of hyrule just like in age of calamity
The saxophone part with the chorus makes me non ironically VERY emotional for how epic it is, really, depending on my mood it can water my eyes up, music messes up with me like nothing else does.
I think it's because saxophones aren't normally supposed to sound this grand and epic. Hearing it like this adds so much storytelling to the music. Despite all odds, the saxophone transcends.
It doesn’t matter how many times I listen to it, I still get goosebumps. I know everyone praises the saxophone part, and rightfully so it is absolutely incredible… but I feel like the opening doesn’t get nearly enough praise. It is SO GOOD.
0:00 The initial music drop and Link flying into picture leading up to the title card, I literally cried when I heard that. It’s not sad music that makes me emotional, it’s music that makes me feel more powerful than I can muster on my own in my daily life
If (actually WHEN) this wins Game of the Year, we BETTER have a saxophone going ham Edit: Guess this didn't age that well, huh (I will say Baldur's Gate 3 definitely deserved Game of the Year, and TotK did win Best Action/Adventure so I'll take it)
@souda3120 and then we've got Spider-Man 2 and Starfield coming out soon, which are two highly anticipated games that, if they turn out to be good, could easily be a contender for GOTY.
FF16 is also likely to be a fair contender, despite what Journalists try to say. That game went OFF with sales(and only for PS5??? Imagine if it released to everything else)

Honestly, I've been listening this MASTERPIECE since it cames out and I have no words to describe the feelings it gives to me. What this franchise means to me and lots of people is just something breathtaking and unique.
Hearing that main Zelda theme at the end, it’s just so special to a die hard fan like myself. When the main theme comes on in a Zelda game, that’s when you know shit is serious. And I adore the new little chord resolve they added to the end of the motif here 3:00. It has this epic heroic, powerful feel to it that is something you can’t quite describe and it makes me tear up with joy and passion. There was nothing like experiencing this live days before the game came out. Top life experiences here
I was watching my bf play this game while doing my own thing and the twist emotionally destroyed me for 2 days after he got up to it. We both went insane at the end, too.

The saxophone’s solo is just 🔥🔥. I don’t know who had the idea of including it but holy, build a statue of that person somewhere because it’s incredible
Everyone talking about the saxophone, but no one mentions how well the trumpet line came together (which any high school band geek will know just doesn't happen)
This game could not have come out at a better time. I started high school in august 2019, waiting for botw 2, and I left high school finally playing it. Not to mention how it released right after I finished ap exams
Sad this amazing mix wasn’t in the game itself but the game still had amazing music so it’s fine. The music that blasts when you reach for Zelda actually made me tear up
Man, I really missed the unrelenting hype I had for this game. I went out of my way to dedicate the week off just for this, and it did not disappoint me one bit. Thank you, Nintendo, for making a song to eternalize that excitement I felt anticipating this game.
