The Great Sea has always been one of my all-time favorite VGM tracks to exist, and when I had the idea for a chill 'island vacation' take on the theme, I knew I had to put it together for the #SoundoleChillOut2022 competition! So grab a fruity umbrella drink, sit back, and relax while we sail across the Great Sea beyond distant horizons!
I wish I could say that making this cover was just like any other, but this was honestly the most difficult time I've ever had putting together a video. Literally, the day after my fiancée and I filmed all of the footage you're seeing, we tested positive for COVID. While we were incredibly fortunate to not face any major health issues as a result, we still spent the next couple of days feeling absolutely terrible. Due to the deadline of the 2022 Soundole Chill Out Cover Competition (and my sincere love for the music of Wind Waker), I didn't want this effort to go to waste, so despite the aches and pains, I worked for about four days straight to finish this cover and (thanks to the always-unanticipated technical issues) found myself uploading it moments before the deadline. Overall I'm incredibly proud of this cover and hope that you can enjoy it as much as I loved putting it together!

I just discovered this cover from a wallpaper engine wallpaper of all things, and it immediately made me cry real tears, so I had to track it down and give you kudos. Seriously, this is an amazing arrangement/performance, I consider myself a fan going forward.

From those first punchy melodic bass notes and ocean sounds, I knew you were heading into something special! It's a captivating arrangement, a stellar mix, and it's all held together by fantastic performances throughout. The huge amount of work that you've put into it is obvious, and it's definitely paid off. I can think of no better way to round off this playlist of entries, I'm glad you could join us for this competition again!

This is so awesome! I love that bass intro and when it all came together after, it really hit me with the feels for this game! Wind Waker is one of my favorite Zelda games and I really enjoyed this performance! Great job to both of you! :)

YAY! The bass in the beginning works so well slower with those kind of slides/slurs, so good :D I love alllll the instruments, and I like how you really varied up the texture and vibes of each section, and not just by changing instruments. So good!!

This is such a good track to cover. The sweet bass intro set the mood just right. The ukulele gives this upbeat feeling. The trumpet is a really nice addition. And it all becomes even better after 2:50. This an elaborate arrangement, very well played and entertaining to watch. Well done.

Literally my childhood. Was born close to the sea and this fresh redone version is so calm and peaceful (even if the original are also those things) I love how it turns out and it's truly pure enjoyment throughout this performance. It sound so professional and this piece of music is my favorite melody of all time in the Legend of Zelda franchise. Got even some memorable memories. And listen to this 🎧 makes me want to play this game again on GameCube. Thanks for doing this masterpiece, can't get enough of this 👍 ✨.

Wow, that was phenomenal. I wish this had 1000 times more views. First off, great instrument choice. I'll probably butcher their names, but here goes: The double bass lends warmth and gravitas, the trumpet adds a majestic quality, and the ocarina ties it all back to Zelda. The bass guitar at sections like 2:06 and 3:00 creates a feeling forward momentum, which ties in well with theme of sailing to new places. It also adds a modern funky quality that contrasts with the classical elements. And I love that part from 3:00 from 3:25, with the bass, percussion and trumpet working together--it's inspirational! Even at the end of the track (4:50), you're still adding instruments (handpan?)! I enjoy how dynamic the music is. You show restraint by starting slow and mellow. You dial things down at the right moments, giving us a chance to take it all in. It's very much in line with your chill island vacation take on the theme. The soft bed of waves adds to the immersion while providing a nice way to transition in/out of the track. I appreciate the commitment to arrange something so complex. Each instrument lends something special. And for only two people to perform this--that's even more impressive. Kudos to both of you, the person who mastered this, and everyone else involved. You clearly put a lot of love into this cover. And while it was tough to produce, I'm so glad it's out there for people to experience. Thank you!

It has so much merit that you coordinate so many instruments just between two people, however it sounds too overloaded. What makes the original special is that despite being simple, it feels great. Sometimes, less is more.
