Oh boy do I have a recipe for you! It's called the Jager Float: 2 oz Jager, .5 oz blackstrap rum, .5 oz heavy cream, 2 dashes angostura, shake then top with root beer! Very delicious

You have various northern European bitter liqueurs like it that could be called a different class of bitter than Amaro. Stuff like Danziger Goldwasser, Gammel Dansk, Becherovka, Riga Balsam and even Finnish salmiakki and Jeppsons Malört can be put into this group.

@@Khazon93 That's right. Amaro is the class name for italian bitters. Jägermeister ist a German bitter. And Germany had a lot of bitters. Like "Bärwurz" or "Stichpimpulibockforcelorum" (One bitter with Rum, spruce sap and pulque as ingriedents and a name that nongerman speaker can't pronounce 😀)

Cointreau is actually not made with cognac. The Cointreau brand is associated with Remy Martin since around the 60s, but they only blend the triple sec with cognac in the Cointreau Noir. It's the Grand Marnier the one that always has that triple sec-cognac blend

@@andreidumitrufocsanu2962 I stand corrected. Back when I got my bartenders education (about 18 years ago now, phew...) I was taught that Cointreau was made from a grape destillate. Didn't think much about it at the time and have simply accepted it through the years. I see now when I research it that Cointreau is made from sugar beet-alcohol. If sugar beet has any significant difference compared to grain destillates I wouldn't know. There's probably other factors in the manufacturing process with a bigger impact. However, still, don't substitute Cointreau (or anything else for that matter) for a cheaper option expecting the same result. ☺️

Try it with Amaro Montenegro, but I would advise leaving out the half-ounce of simple syrup, as Montenegro is sweeter than Jager - and Jager is already pretty sweet.

I hate Jager myself. But I've had this and I love it. I used a vanilla simple syrup tho and the vanilla goes so well with all strong herbaceous flavors from the Jager.

Yeah, I don't get why people fall for their cheap marketing. This is *not* quality booze. OK, to each their own, some people also seem to enjoy 40s and stuff, but why bother if you can have the good stuff instead?
