The Star Wars 75367 Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser is on it's way! This $650 mammoth of a set is set to release in October. For those Clone Wars - Captain Rex fans, are you willing to pay $650 to get your hands on the new Captain Rex Minifigure? What was Lego thinking making the Phase 2 Captain Rex Minifigure exclusive to a $650 set? Kids looking to get a Captain Rex minifigure are on the outside looking in. Will parents dish out $650 at Christmas time for their children to get their favorite clone? Only time will tell, but in my opinion Lego disappointed millions of Clone Wars fans by making Captain Rex exclusive to a $650 set. As a full time reseller I try to analyze nearly every Lego figure and set that comes out. I talk about the minifigures, availability, retirement dates, investment strategies, and potential profitability of Lego sets.

I'm happy Lego re-released this Captain Rex with the Y-Wing Microfighter set. It took them awhile, but they finally did it.

I agree, the set is absolutely beautiful but the pricing of lego is out of control. I personally believe they are earning small gains on these large sets. I asked an employee and they said they dont sell many of the UCS sets in store. I personally am mad at the recent pricing of the new batman sets, its ridiculous

I think Lego has let greed get the best of them, especially over the last 3 years. There are some big developments coming, and Lego is going to need to thread the needle over the next 24 months.

It’s not meant for little Timmy it’s a adult set and it is what it is yes it sucks they backtracked what they say but I like the expensive sets to have the best figures

I believe they going to release another phase 2 Rex in a year or two in a cheaper play set, maybe without arm printing. From a business point of view it makes sense to release a more expensive set like this Venator to get all the money from all the adult collector and rich families. Then after a year or two once alot of people have bought this set, they gonna release him in a playset.

I’d actually buy the Venator regardless if he was included or not. Only an idiot would be spending $650 for a set just because of a minifig. The Republic Gunship is a prime example. The minifigs in a UCS just have very little relevance on sales.

I've head several people say this, but why would they release a different version of Rex, when this version doesn't even have a cloth kama? Are they planning on releasing a worse version of Captain Rex that the fans are going to rage against? That doesn't seem like a good business decision. This version of Captain Rex is average at best, and belongs in a $30 to $70 set.

@@thecollectorinvesting They will always be people being critical of the minifigs just to go out and buy them anyway. I think they going to listen to fans wishes for Rex's Y-wing in the future but just make Rex with less digitals or slightly different to make sure the UCS stays exclusive.

@@thecollectorinvesting If you don't like the Rex minifigure in Venator at all, then it's great that you don't have to buy it for 700 USD. I can get the Venator for 480 USD, I can try to sell the ship itself without the minifigures ($30 below my purchase price - I have no idea if anyone will take it for 450) and send you the Rex for less (but if you don't like the minifigure - it's probably a useless offer).

Very interesting take. It would be interesting to get the transcript of some of the Disney/Lego meetings. I think we would all be very surprised about what they really think about their customers.

They’ll release a different version in a cheaper set. This is a luxury item. As someone who went years without LEGO because of more important things and missed out on a lot of great sets and minifigs, people just need to make a choice.

I agree. This decision is going to further alienate Lego fans that are on the verge of getting out of Lego all together.

@@audilover1912 That's true, but LEGO prices stay where they are at because people still buy it even though they can't afford it. And what breaks my heart is people also put this on their credit cards that they can't pay off monthly. If LEGO saw a significant dip in profits they would likely reduce their prices. As it stands, they know people will sell their kidneys for a set.
