Wait… what is this? Clothes that cover everything, lyrics that aren’t obscene, no pyrotechnics or back up singers or dancers and no autotune. Whaddaya know, it’s called talent!
Their singing represents a time in when American society had morals, class, decency, and traditions! Amazing sister singers! Their parents were blessed to give birth to these gifts of women! I so miss amazing live talent shows like The Lawrence Welk Show! Pure talent and class! When I was a little Itty bitty kid growing up in the early 1980s; I used to watch The Lawrence Welk Show with my late, beloved grandmother! Then we would watch; Mamas Family, The Carol Burnett Show, and Benny Hill! When Network television was absolutely golden! Best of times!
The world has always been a mess. The only thing different today is that there is more people. I do love the Lennon Sisters and it is too bad our society is failing.
I'm 63, too. And I used to watch it with my mom. Wasn't it around 5 or 5:30 p.m. Saturdays....at least in south central, Wisconsin. I loved watching it with her. I have three siblings and I don't remember them watching it with us.
More than the greatest love the world Has known This is the love that I give to you Alone More than the simple words I try to say I only live to love you more Each day More than you'll ever know My arms long to hold you so My life will be in your keeping Waking sleeping laughing weeping Longer than always is a long long time But far beyond forever You'll be mine I know I've never lived before And my heart is very sure Noone else could love you more Longer than always is a long long time But far beyond forever You'll be mine I know I've never lived before And my heart is very sure Noone else Could love You more
I would have loved to have been one of their children. Just imagine, being sung to sleep with those beautiful voices. They all sung and still sing like Angels. Nowadays Mimi and Janet and Kathy sing. Dee Dee and Peggy retired.
Kathy is the perfect image of what a truly beautiful woman looked like back then. She's simply gorgeous and sings terrific. She really could have been a break-out soloist, had she chosen to be.
Why do people want to favorite-ize & select people and places according to the way they perceive things. Leave the stuff alone. Why would Kathy want to 'break out" ? They altogether couldn't have been anything without each other. I know there are big rock stars who want to solo out and make as much money as they can, but (this is) not the Lennon Sisters.
Kathy has the best voice - really great - ofcourse they were all unique and special with their blend- but Kathy could easily be a great solo artist. All 4 are beauties.

More than you'll ever know, my arms long to hold you so, My life will be in your keeping, waking, sleeping, laughing, weeping, Longer than always is a long long time, but far beyond forever you're gonna be mine. I'm here after watching the SNL spoof on the Lawerence Welk Show and the Maherelle sisters! Wow! The Lennon sisters were so pretty and the harmonizing was superb!
Fortunately, there's no crazy deformed sister here. They were all beautiful, I wonder if the creator of that skit really didn't like one of the sisters.
Wow, they were just so charming. And talented. No wonder Lawrence Welk held on to them forever. Clear to see why they were favorites. And this is STILL a GREAT song.
It was Saturday's on ABC until 1971, then it was syndicated at 7 PM throughout the US. I used to watch it with my grandparents, then on my own. I faithfully watched it every week until it left in 1982, then when PBS began airing it I watch it every Saturday night at 6 PM. WNSC from South Carolina since WUNC took it off the air in August of 2019.😤🙁.
Diane really doesn't get much credit, but I think she's an outstanding singer. Her eyes are just as beautiful as her voice. Everyone whoos over Kathy, and how pretty she is, but all of the sisters are unique in their own way. I also, think Mimi is fantastic too. She's the youngest out of all the sisters, and I loved when she sang "Do Re Mi". People loved them then, and love them now, and I hope their music new gets old!
I remember Janet as everyone's favorite! I wasn't aware Kathy was considered the beauty. That's interesting. I think she is very pretty but if I remember correctly. I don't think my Mother did.
It is really odd how Dianne is rarely mentioned as anyone's favorite. I suppose it's due to her leaving the group for a while to be with family that she isn't as popular. I love her voice too, very underrated. Kathy is pretty but I thought Dianne was definitely the most pretty, as you said her eyes (light blue/grey I think) are beautiful.
I was surprised to learn their mom was Mexican, Spanish, and Irish I believe. Did they ever sing in Spanish? Maybe they didn't speak it. Wow11 siblings, that is one big family. Sadly, one sister died as a child.
I know Peggy is doing the higher voice. Anyone knows who's doing the melody and the lower voice? Also, since there are four of them, are there two melodies?
Kathy does the low parts, Diane & Janet share the melody but in arrangements like this one, it breaks into 4 part harmony on several chords. In those instances, Diane sings the 2nd part & Janet the 3rd part.
Many people say that Janet is doing the third harmony. But Its kinda hard to listen to her. Because I swear that I can hear Kathys and Peggys harmonies but i cant hear Janets 😭😭 Can someome tell me if its true that in this song there are 4 harmonies
