The Lich VS Hunson Abadeer 

Marceline‘s dad might want those things but he’s not obsessive about it like the Lich. Hudson seems like a real person apart from his evil nature while the Lich was best described by Prismo like a machine🤔

In the official Adventure Time Encyclopaedia, Hunson Abadeer admits the Lich is his only real rival, stating that, while he finds the Lich "pathetic," the fact that the Lich is capable of destroying all of Ooo causes Hunson to take their rivalry seriously and that, had Finn not defeated him, he would have taken matters into his own hands. (Note: This was written before the episode "The Lich" was made. So, it sounds like Hunson Abadeer's pretty confident that he could take down the Lich.

Technically we’ve never actually even SEEN 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐜𝐡 at full power. Finn blasted him with the Gauntlet before he could finish restoring his full strength. So this whole time we’ve basically been watching a nerfed Lich. Lol that’s crazy to think about. 💀

I have a feeling Hudson has a similar mentality like Jake, low effort until it comes to something he cares about like his goals or family. Both also parents struggling to figure out how to parent. He could be capable but it's likely you'd only see that if he goes all Liam Neeson to save Marceline or stop the Lich.

What this tells me is that Prime Billy was an absolute BEAST

Finn is also a good tool of measurement. Without most of his development we see over the course of the show, Finn defeated Hunson twice. Using his gold sword, distraction, and a portal spell, Hunson was relieved of the captured souls and banished to the Nightosphere. The second time, Finn fought "Hunson" (Marceline with the amulet of chaotic evil) with his demon blood sword, a political rap, and grabbing the amulet, all _in_ the Nightosphere. The Lich, on the other hand, required Finn to use the powers of Billy's gauntlet, intense emotion-fueled willpower for the first fight, teaming up with the Ice King for the second fight (while the Lich was in Princess Bubblegum's Body), chancing upon some guardian blood from the Citadel in the fourth fight, using the Finn Sword, the wish cannon, and swaying Farmworld Finn in the fifth fight, and teaming up with Fern and Sweet P before Sweet P can be swayed by the Lich in the sixth fight. This all heavily points to the Lich being the superior opponent. Even growing smarter and more skilled along the series, the Lich would've crushed Finn in most of the battles if Finn was unaided by something far stronger than he is (like Jake's wish, the luckily-placed guardian blood, and a good version of the Lich).

Chaotic evil vs. lawful evil

But isn't Abadeer "deathless"? As stated by his own daughter on his debut episode

Lol, there's also the fact he's "deathless". It's probably one of the reasons he scoffs at the lich cause he can't kill him 🤣. One other reason I thought was that he had pure access to chaos magic through his necklace. I really wish they fought.

I think Hunson Abadeer is limited in strength and power when outside the nightosfeer which is why he gets so easily defeated and bound while the Lich has no such limitation.

Peppermint Butler went golfing with Abadeer as there is a picture of the two together doing just that in the show. That same Peppermint Butler was absolutely freaking out that he was in the same room as the Lich. And keep in mind, that same room had GGGG (a Martian deity), Prismo (a cosmic wish-master), Jake (the dog), and Death along with other cosmic beings. Peppermint Butler fully believed that the Lich could kill all of them, a god, multiple cosmic entities, Jake, Death, and himself, who’s powerful enough to have a cult dedicated to him form in the future and it took Jake showing Pep that the Lich won’t move to calm him down even after Prismo’s assurance.

I don't think they have the same goal. The lich succeeding means no more new souls for him to ensnare. I know reincarnation is canon in adventure time, so technically there are no "new" souls. Although, I'm not sure how reincarnation is affected by souls strapped in the nightosphere. Still though, the difference between them is that one wants dominion over life and the other wants to extinguish it permanently.

The Lich and Hunson Abadeer would stalemate. The Lich technically already killed Hunson once, although it was through a wish. Despite not *physically* living before Hunson, the Lich is an embodiment of a primordial that exists outside of space-time. Not to mention *two* of the Lich exists in EVERY universe in the infinite multiverse bc of the events in the Farmworld Universe. Coupled with his high intellect and consistant ability to survive, it's probably a High-Diff stalemate

Nah. Hunson is the ruler of his OWN DIMENSION. He is not a primordial god , but is not too below them. Hunson is on pair pair with the Lych in terms of hierarchy, because neither of them are gods. But he is basically what the Lych wants to be in his own dimension (Finn's dimension).

One thing you forget. One of Hudsons abilities is that he's the ruler of the nightosphere. And with that comes a lot of extra servants. Lich works alone so I gotta say unless you gimp abideer, he wins.

There is probably some link between the nightosphere and Golb. The entire dimension is blood red just like him and Hunsons amulet fills anyone wearing it with "chaotic evil." Golb is the embodiment of chaos.

Hudson is quite a mystery in the series, his form seems to when it changes seems to resemble a primordial being which is reaveled in an episode involving sweet pea trunks. The Lich is a comet not a primordial being, hence why he's mearly a scholar of golb.

Hunson Abadeer always seemed more laid back but does express care for his daughter so personally I think if marcaline was at risk hunson would at least seriously injure the lich most likely wouldn’t win but would do a ton of harm to the lich before then

I'll have to agree. Yea they both want the same relative thing. But for Abadeeer, he wants and will go for his goal, but it's not his life mission. I think his goal is more like a hobby than a goal. And the Lich simply just exists only for his goal and nothing more

This is one of those cases where a vs doesnt really work and doesn't have an answer,for various reasons Just a legitimate lack of feats to compare the two with and a sheer lack of reason to fight,even if they hate each other neither really feels like facing the other in combat or it would've happened a long time ago and we would already have our answer If anything i expect them to team up long before ever considering the unironically pointless amount of time wasted in the two clashing

Idk man, I think Lich is the one who wins. You completely missed the fact that mere breath of Lich turns living things into ash and dust, like he did that to old Prismo. And he can posses any creature and turn it into his slave. Remember the Citadel? There were the worst criminals in the universe, they could rip portals in the fabric of space (Void Caller, that guys with spiky head) and eradicate whole planets with just a laser beam. And Lich possessed them all at once. He did it without any effort and he managed to destroy the thing that they couldn't break out from like it was just some ice. Nothing stops Lich from possessing Hunson or enslaving him. In fact, Lich managed to posses Death itself. He's an ideal machine for killing and you can't just underestimate it.

I was scared but also in awe of the Lich's appearance. While growing up, I never thought I'd see any demon/devil so horrifying such as the Lich. And to this day, his quotes still hit different.

You have to take into account that the Lich also didn’t want to fight Hunson, with his true goal being the Enchiridion and Prismo’s wish it seems like he didn’t want to risk the possibility of losing to Hunson It was again later shown that he hid in the Deathrealm to once again evade Hunson

I feel like hunson and the lich could have been apart of the primordial monsters that existed before time. Maybe not the lich specifically but his origins seem similar to that.

Interesting things about rivalries like these is that it comes down to multiple factors narrative-wise: 1. Hudson IS a villain, so we would be rooting for a villain to kill a villain. The outcome is equally bad regardless. Granted, Hudson may be the lesser of two evils, I like having a soul, and I hope someone is able to stop either Hudson or The Lich when all is said and done (assuming this timeline, for instance, Finn and Jake truly fall) 2. Hudson is the underdog, but in much the same way Finn and Jake were underdogs, and they both defeated The Lich. Thing is, Hudson wouldn't just borrow power like Finn and Jake did. (I think.) If so, it would be an interesting form of power unlike anything we've ever seen. Otherwise, it's his own power, his full potential, and he would have to explore ways of combating the Lich that are decisive and methodical, rather than outright overpowering him, assuming The Lich is stronger than him (in many points of the series, Lich is in a weakened state, though equally diabolical) 3. We can explore exactly what Hudson's aspirations really are, and this rivalry may be the ticket to kick-starting Abadeer's take over officially.

I have a question related to the Lich. In the Fionna and Cake series we see that in the vampire world there is no sich thing as the Lich. I mean it is obvious the bomb exploded since we see Billy and PB in their magical forms. But where is the Lich? And if he existed in that world, would he also annihilate the vampire race?

Even if the lich wasn't in his prime, the version that became Sweet Pea grew gigantic and had Finn's Night Sword. That would be able to defeat Abadeer even in his prime.
