I can remember being a teenager in the 70s and listening to "Take It To The Limit" when I worked the graveyard shift in a restaurant. Seems like yesterday, 50 years goes by faster than you think. 😟
If ever there was a vocal masterpiece , that is one !!! Right from the beginning of the song ....his voice is just absolutely perfect. Just perfection . May you rest in peace Randy !!! I am sure he is a "lead" singer in that big ole heavenly band !!!!
Today is markedly a very sad day. Randy Meissner has died. I grew up like a lot of people. We had the best music ever. I loved many bands but felt the need to pick one as my all time favorite. I loved Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones and so on. But I kept coming back to the Eagles. For several reasons I ended up picking them as my all time favorite group. My All time favorite song of theirs is Take it to the Limit I have felt this way for years. I am completely heartbroken that Randy has died I hope all the people like me can commiserate together. 😞
I agree with you. This same paragraph could be spoken for so many other musicians, like RANDY, whose contribution to music was always "standout" but would always be "the perfect blend".
A beautiful, personal, heartfelt eulogy to this talented musician who gave us do much joy thru his music. Still yo this day and fir generations to come.💔🔥💖✌🏻🎼🎶🎵🎶
Yes indeed. The 70’s I believe was the best decade in music, with its roots beginning in the 60’s. I’m blessed to have been alive in that era, the country was carefree and laid back. Politics was nowhere near as vitriolic as today. Did I mention the music was amazing ? We had the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Skynyrd, Zeppelin, Van Halen, Journey , Boston, Styx, Bad Company, KISS, Heart, and so many others. Yup, Randy Meisner was one of those great musicians, we didn’t know then how great we had it, $15-$25 for a concert ticket , .50 gasoline, today we have wokeness, God help us.
Besides all the TV news stations, it was reported in many newspapers, New York Times, USA Today, Rolling Stone, online news outlets, etc. The Eagles posted a tribute on their website, Joe Walsh, Jim Messina, Don Felder, others posted. Randy's death was definitely acknowledged. It made me feel better to see the tributes as I was heartbroken over the news.
I had the privilege of seeing him sing Take it to the Limit on the Hotel California tour in 77. It was awesome- he had a fantastic voice, not to mention being easy on the eyes (the 13 year old girl I was then had a huge crush on him). He was criminally underrated as a bass player too. Keep rockin on the other side Randy. We love and miss you!😘💔
That voice!! His ad libs in Take It… are legendary. He didn’t want to try it live but of course the Don demanded it. He was a tired soul in his later years.
Are you talking about the '76 concert? The one with Jackson Brown and Linda Ronstadt? I was there, too. Greatest concert I ever attended. So many great musicians. Dan Fogelberg did Place in the World For a Gambler as the encore.
Hey u guys, was that the live performance where at the very end of take it, which meisner did Epically , one of the guys says “ well jeeze Randy” ? It is so cool. And I’ve never heard a better version.
@@mikeb359 If it's the same one I'm thinking about, they used to have it posted on YT. Of course Henley had it taken down in about a nanosecond like he always does. 🙄
💔💔 Heartbreaking, RIP to one of my favourite childhood voices 🙏🏼, singing with you on my auntie’s bedroom floor over and over to Take It To The Limit (bc I could reach those amazing notes at that tender age) are memories forever engrained in my heart❤🙏🏼
Hotel California was one of my very first rock albums. My brother was stationed in Germany and brought me Hotel California, Foreigner Head Games, Scorpions In Trance and a Lloyds Stereo, my first real stereo. Changed my world it did. I hung the poster from Hotel California in each place that I lived until I was 40 years old and then I lost it in a move.
@@EdCollects❤ GOOD ON YOU ED! I'M COMING UP ON 30 YEAR'S! I'M NOW ALLERGIC TO CIGARETTE SMOKE. GIVES ME AN INSTANT MIGRAINE. IT'S SO SAD, A BEAUTIFUL VOICE LIKE RANDY, THAT HE SUFFERED FROM COPD 😢 TRULY TRAGIC, MAY HE REST IN PEACE 🕊😇🙏🏼🕊
What a gem of a musician this guy was. Take it to the limit ranks as one of the best songs ever written and performed equally as perfect. In my opinion
What a great singer he is I love his voice on take it to the limit I love all of the music by the eagles God bless him May he rest in peace I love you so much your 1fan for life
RIP Mr. Meisner. My mom went to highschool with him in Scottsbluff. She played his music often and always held him in the highest regard. I miss you mom.
So sad to hear that Randy passed away. He was the best vocalist in EAGLES. ‘Take it to the limit’ is the best song and Randy is the only person who knows how to sing this song. Randy, RIP !!!
Randy came to career day at my high school about 1978, and talked to some of us who had expressed interest in "music as a career". He just talked with us kids like a friend and played his acoustic guitar for us.
Randy had such an amazing vocal. His range and tone in his voice was like no other. He will always remain in the hearts of Eagle fans across the globe. R.I.P Randy, you will be missed.
To stand out as one of the greatest bands ever in the company of the greatest bands in history also the greatest musical era of 60s and 70s is testament to your greatness your songs will live long into the future take it to the limit is and always will be immortal rest in peace love and respect from uk
Loved the Eagles. Their music was played loudly driving all over California...Fortunate to have been at an LA concert in 80s....Thank you Randy for your contribution.
