So we found this footage from 2013 on an old drive and decided to finish it. Younger and thinner, but it's still me and the G&T is still the best hot weather drink ever devised.
I like to think his cook smart segments are like bite size samples of good eats. they taste the same, but you know youd just as well enjoy the whole meal if you could get it.
It is far from simple, yes you add just a couple of compounds together, but the compounds themselves are complex in nature. It reminds me of the favourite dish of Ferran Adrià, which is pan con tomate, but then how do you make a good olive oil or bread, where does the flower come from, etc., so once again simple in nature, simple in compounds, but far from simple. The same goes for gin (it easily could contain 40 aromatics) and tonic.
Best program yet! Love the costume, the set, most of all the information! Love the way everything was written out on the screen. Super great job. Clear and concise. Great format Please do more of these.😊
Love this, inspiring and encouraging. Jack Rudy is great. I am a aromatic plant grower in QC and enjoy the qualities of traditional drinks, so it's nice to see loyalty to true ingredients. Thank you.
I’ve been requesting like crazy more “Liquor in the Library” moments. This is exactly what I was hoping for!! Fabulous!! I could watch a million of these. THANKS, Alton! 💜
I want more of this! Love the breakdown and the history. It would be great to see this as a series. Now I know what cocktail...er...stagering complex elixir I will be having tonight.
Mr. Brown, you are a genius. I have been a gin and tonic drinker a very long time. My son, an exec chef at a golf club in Indiana also love them. Tonight we toasted to your gin and tonic recipe via facetime, I live in Florida. That tonic syrup makes an excellent substitute for tonic water. Keep the great videos coming!!
Found this by accident today! What a delight it is and it made me smile, as you always do AB. Thanks for putting it up for us. oh, yeah, BTW, you look just as handsome these days as you did back then, maybe even more. "Too thin" Alton just wasn't right. Love ya'!
I bonsai'd a small lime tree for a lady friend that only has the occasional drink in summer. Every ten days a full size lime would be ready during the hot season. The "bouquet" that a freshly picked lime added to the drink was just amazing. Most fruit lose this trait within two days of being picked. Even added a small Bay window over the kitchen sink to catch the sun in beautiful White Rock, BC, Canada.
Thanks for posting this! I spend most of my days drinking neat bourbon. But G&T is my very favorite cocktail. I love the challenge of making more complicated drinks, but none of them satisfy me as much as a bit of gin, a bit of tonic, and a bit of lime on ice.
That looks like one of those Wisconsin all weather skeeters. The ones with antifreeze in their veins that only disappear during the coldest days of the winter.
Had my first gin and tonic today. Thank you Alton. Hendricks is darn good and we loved the tonic concentrate.. Always thought I hated gin. Now I know my parents just bought crappy cheap booze.
Gin & Tonic season is upon us. I can't wait to sip on one of these outside on a patio (if Ontario ever gets to that point again). It's much more likely that I'll be enjoying them at home. After much experimentation, I think I've found the perfect G&T recipe. Put two ounces of gin with the juice of half a lime in a cocktail shaker, fill it with ice, shake for 20 seconds or so, strain into a glass that's also filled with ice, top it off with a bottle of Fever Tree elderflower tonic.
This is why I like you. I find out I’m making one of my favorite foods or drinks wrong and you make it better. On my way to get some Tonic concentrate now.
A man of class and good taste, I see! As a fellow Southerner, I will also swear by the medicinal properties of a good gin and tonic with lime. My da's favorite was always Tanqueray, but I'm partial to Bombay Sapphire myself.
@@robspiess It is LOL. I just googled for it and went back to the video to compare, and landed at 04:14. You can see the bottle clearly. What are the chances of landing at the exact spot on the video?!?!
Dude, you are truly fecking awesome! G&T is my absolute favorite libation ... year 'round. If you're of the mind, there are some great "craft" gins that can be easily had such as Barr Hill gin (from VT), of course Brooklyn Gin and both Drumshanbo Gunpowder gin (steeped with gunpowder tea) and Glendalough Wild Botanical Gin ... yeah, I'm Irish. Cheers!
I LOVE gin & tonics! Everyone tells me it’s an “old people” drink! I hope this video will help revive them and bring them into relevance again! Thanks Alton!
And I love gin & tonic even more knowing that they help repel mosquitoes! I’m in Texas and I am literally stalked and devoured by mosquitoes for about 8 months out of the year! Time to increase my consumption, it would appear! Lol
Native Charlestonian here. I've never heard of this quinine concentrate before. I'm definitely going to rethink my GNT now. My preference for gin is Bombay. I think this is going to be delicious! Thanks!
G & T or any classic gin drink really, is my favorite refreshing drink on a warm day. My name sake liquor and happy to say I've toured a gin distillery in The Netherlands. Excellent example of top notch ingredients making the drink ever so better. Current favs: Aviation, St George, and Sipsmith gins and Q tonics. Always w/ a lime.
