My sis and I had this (shown) poster on our bedroom wall. The music is part of my childhood, as we had the vinyl. Bad Bob scared me so much! Thanks for making me smile today!
Its funny how things work...........i became aware of this music from Tarantino's "Once upon a time in Hollywood" where it was used at the very end of the movie(to great effect). I was so struck by this piece of music that after the movie was over I looked it up and found that it was from the great Maurice Jarre(I love that movie "Witness"). So now im looking forward to watching "The life and times of Judge Roy bean". Thank you Quentin Tarantino
Thank you so much for posting this wonderful sound track. As s child of 9 years old I fell in love with this music. It was my favorite. Even more so then The Good Bad and the Ugly and The Cowboys soundtrack. I would pretend that I was the Judge. And with my K-Mart plastic six shooter take on all the bad men West of the Pecos all the while humming music from this sound track. ¡¡Qué película más bella!! En España, por esa estúpida manía de los distribuidores, de no respetar el nombre original -salvo cuando creen que resulta comercial, claro-, la titularon, "El juez de la horca"., renunciando al, mucho más sugerente y preciso, título original de, "La vida y los tiempos del juez Roy Bean". . . Pero lo que importa, es la joya cinematógrafica, en clave de western crepuscular (lo tiene todo : acción, dramatismo, romanticismo, humor y ternura), que nos legó el gran John Huston. Todos los actores, desde los protagonistas, Paul Newman, Victoria Principal y Anthony Zerbe, hasta los que solamente aparecen breves minutos, dan en su interpretación, el perfil exacto que el genial director, se había propuesto, Así, desde Anthony Perkins, hasta Jacqueline Bisset, pasando por Tab Hunter, Roddy McDowall, Stacey Keach o Ned Beatty, todos ellos, están simplemente magistrales.Mención especial, para el brevísimo papel, al final de película, -aunque su fotografía, nos acompaña en gran parte de la misma- de esa preciosidad que se llamó Ava Gardner, y a la que Huston, rindiendo homenaje a su belleza, no dudó en encomendarle el rol de Lily Langtry, el ideal y platónico amor del juez Roy Bean. (Todavía no he podido evitar, cada vez que vuelvo a visionar el film -cosa que hago, de vez en cuando- , que justo, cuando Lily lee la carta del juez, y los ojos se le llenan de lágrimas, ... a los míos, no les ocurra lo mismo. ¡¡Seré tonto!! . . . ¡Pero en eso, entre otras cosas, resida, tal vez, la magia del cine! ... Para que todo resultase perfecto, Maurice Jarre, compuso, para esta libre adaptación de la historia del juez Roy Bean (que, realmente, existió), una de sus más bellas bandas sonoras. Por eso, cuando me he encontrado, aquí en RU-vid, con esta suite de la misma, me he llevado una gran alegría, la he escuchado, he vuelto a ver "El juez de la horca" y (tras acabar llorando tontamente, de nuevo, ja, ja, ja) me he decidido a dejar, en estas líneas, público testimonio de mi admiración y agradecimiento a ese genio que se llamó John Huston, por habernos regalado ésta y otras muchas maravillosas películas. Finalizo, haciendo saber a cualquier cinéfilo purista y riguroso que, por casualidad, leyese mis comentarios, que, por supuesto, conozco y he visto (también, varias veces), esa soberbia película titulada, "El forastero", del también gran maestro del 7º arte, que fue William Wyler. Y me gusta muchísimo (como no podría ser de otro modo). . . Pero la de Huston, aun más. Será porque su final, me hace llorar . . . ¡Qué le voy a hacer!
