Victor Jory also portrayed Judge Roy Bean in a 1969 film: “A Time For Dying”. Film had me crying at the end. Love your narrations and videos. Can just imagine cattle drives, lonesome nights out under the stars and crossing the Pecos River on horseback. Your narratives help us relive history and how this Country was shaped! God bless you and stay safe!
Thanks Jerry for all your hard work in bringing these biographies to us, fascinating stories and always glad to see your name pop up for another great account of people’s life’s ❤️❤️
Jerry Skinner you're a gift to wordsmiths, thank you so much for another excellent video. I saw the last movie, The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean but I never knew he was a real guy, thank you for clearing that up.
Great job Mr. Skinner. Always find your work and dedication respectful as usual. These unsung heroes deserve to their stories told and you do this very well, with respect and dignity. Thank you Jerry.
Well done Mr. Skinner. I drove down to Del Rio and Langtry about 10 years ago and was BLOWN away by the beauty of the area, etc. I highly recommend anyone interested in going down for a visit in person.
Well, what a character he was. I didnt know anything about him at all, so thank you Jerry for putting this together. As usual a wonderful narration by you, I look forward to hearing your soothing voice and gentle tone. God Bless. Big Hugs. xx

I've always found Roy Bean to be a fascinating character, proof that real life creates bigger characters than any fiction author ever could. Thanks for this.
Getting close to the 200 Thousand Subs Mr. Skinner.....No Real Surprise as you really do Deliver The Goods when sharing these stories with your Fans....You Are Appreciated Very Much.....Cheers From Ohio
Christine m Lester, I live in africa saw this movie about 1995 on tv. Thought it was rubbish old western. Became obsessed with it as well. Have since seen it a couple of times.
Jerry, this was absolutely the funniest & most enjoyable mini documentary you've done yet, and that's saying a lot, because they are all good. Thank you!!!
I had two Uncles that were Texas Rangers...My Mother's side of the family was from west Texas around the Marfa area... I was born and have lived in Texas all my life so these stories have been around my family for a long time...
@@ehrldawg Could not know, they have been dead for years. Unless it is mentioned in the Documents given me by the Texas Rangers hall of fame. I would have to read through all that and it's substantial.
@comfortableman12 No I sure don't, I haven't been out there since the late 50's. My Uncle was Presidio county Sheriff for many years, his name was Rooney. (Jacks Brother) When my Uncle John (Jack) Rooney (Ranger) was transferred to Galveston because of the dock strike (1920's) his Sister and my Mother (her daughter) came along shortly after. I was born in Galveston. I have his orders including the transportation of his horse by train. I have all the information on him in a binder provided by the Texas Rangers Museum...(Nice people over there)
When I was a little feller I went to the movie theatre to watch "The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean" starring Newman. Loved it. Many years later as an adult I saw it and thought it a horrid production. Perspective. Ah well the Judge did live and interesting life. Thanks for the video Mr. Skinner.
Hi, Mr Skinner, I live in africa. Saw life and times of judge roy bean, about 1995. At time had never heard of the movie, so expected a second rate western. Became obsessed with this movie, have seen it many times since. Absolutely fantastic. And great story from you ,too. Keep well.
Mr Skinner, I've been enjoying your videos over the last few years and have really been impressed with your research methods. One of the most endearing parts of these videos is your voice... kinda like Willie Nelson giving a history lesson! Thanks for sharing your insights! Take care!
An awesome one tonight Jerry. Judge Roy Bean was one 'hell of a' man for sure. In a land where there was no real law, at least there was Judge Roy Bean's Law.
@@charlesciminera5720 He was unifinetly better than Trump. Need I say Trump University is just one example. Was Judge Roy Bean ever accused of sexual assault cause 20 women have come forward accusing Trump of sexual assault? Don't worry truth is on our side
@@charlesciminera5720 You are on everyone of the documentaries with nothing good to say about anything. Get a frigging life troll. No one gives a crap what you have to say. Another thing, burning in Hell is your after death future if you don't stop stating information that you have NO CLUE is the truth. Idiot
It's a shame that the judge couldn't have lived long enough to meet her when she stopped at the town. Sir if you had been my history teacher when I was in high school we'd be in a Riplley Believe It Or Not book, me for being a high school student for so many years and you Mr. Skinner for being the most beloved history teacher that there ever was ! Thank you for all of your hard work.😙💖
Nicely done! When Judge Bean lived in San Antonio, he had a small dairy farm and sold milk to the locals. The area he lived in was called "Beanville" by the locals. He would water down the milk with water he scooped out of the river. When his customers started complaining about finding minnows in the milk, he blamed it on the cows drinking the minnows . The house he lived in, was formerly used by the ranch foreman for one of the missions here in San Antonio. It was built in the mid 1700's by the Spanish. He purchased the house on East Glenn street for $120 in 1873.
Thanks Jerry for all your hard work and travels to bring to us your followers, the real truth about the Western History we all have seen on TV that doesn't really tell the whole truth.. I wish you well and good health to continue to bring us the truth about the Western Frontier.
You are the best storyteller ever!! Thank you for all you do n sharing it Mr. Skinner!! Always good to see a new video pop up from you!! God bless you.
If ANY OF YOU ever get the chance to visit that teeny tiny spot that is Langtry, TX......dont pass it up! One of my greatest wishes was to visit Langtry and go to the Jersey Lily! In 1989 we took our vacations and off we went! It was before the renovations had been barely begun...but he has always been such unique character and an odd sort of hero to me....It was amazing to walk into that weathered wood little saloon and imagine all the outrageous things that went on with him!
That was FANTASTIC! You are excellent at these wonderful documentaries you do! I believe we need Judge Roy Bean TODAY! Thank You very much sir for a job well done!
Your search for historical sources is thorough and you usually bring out some facts that regular books don't have. Judge Roy Bean was definitely a character.
My.skinner always makes the best videos I love love his voice and southern draw as they called it I watch every video that he makes there fun and informative.
The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean with Paul Newman is a classic that every fan of Westerns really needs to see. Of course, in the movie the legend is glorified, the truth might be stretched, the humor is callous, but it leaves me with a smile every time I have seen it. Judge Roy Bean's version of justice is portrayed as swift and unflinching, although maybe not exactly fair. Since I wasn't there to witness any of the events that happened who am I to say...... Thank you for this presentation.
Thank you Mr. Skinner for another outstanding & educational old west narration I truly enjoy learning from you your voice is very soothing and easy to understand your diction is spot on & it goes right along with the stories you're telling.👍👏👏👏👏👏👏😋
I'm impressed with your research into Roy Bean and your abilities as a story teller. As Mr. Adams stated, "you have brought back life , respect & dignity to thoes famous whom have long been slienced by death."
+Jerry Skinner; I want to thank you for this concise, & thoroughly enjoyable biography. I first saw Paul Newman's film a long time ago, ama I'm currently watching it, again, for the second time. Etiam , I know they had leeway with the script, but it's such a wonderful film, and I forgot all about Bear, whoi loved. Again, thank you sir. All good wishes...
