Laena Velaryon although a rather minor character in the story of the dance of the dragons as seen in HBO's House Of The Dragon, still managed to leave behind a huge mark in history during her short life. Married to Daemon Targaryen The Rough Prince, mother to his two daughers Baella and Rhaena and the rider of the mighty dragon Vhagar, she would be part of the events the set in motion the targaryen civil war, the dance of the dragons. This video will take a look at her life, her history, and tell the parts of her story we lost in season 1 of house of the dragon due to the 10 year time skip mid season.

This video uses Fire & Blood, & The World Of Ice and Fire as its primary sources, in cases where information conflicts and the two opposing accounts cant be married together, i'll use by best judgement to choice the information i believe to be more reliable.
The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen was trapped on Dragonstone by her brother King Aegon ii with no way to escape her fate. What was to come was the final showdown between the two main players of the dance of the dragons and bring the war into its final phase. The House of the dragon was crumbling and the events that was about to follow would only cause more damage to both sides of the war.

Honestly, Laena was one of the biggest misses of House of the Dragon. I think a great improvement to her character in the show would have been to have her in the war for the Stepstones. It would have been a far better introduction for Vhagar, helped flesh out Laena's character, make her more badass and added depth to Laena and Daemon's relationship.

That's not who the character is though. I definitely would've like to see more of Laena, but there weren't any woman fighting in the stepstones. Why would they put her in that?

Wish we saw Laena searching and bonding with Vhagar. Other than that, it's a shame what happened to her. Laena and Laenor seemed rather pleasant as far as Dragons go, overall. A shame Rhaenyra and Laena weren't seen to be as close either. Though it seems her uncle Vaemond was often her companion or protector, as we had often seen the 2 usually in the same scene, even if not often or made prevalent. In the books, Vaemond had a wife and truborn kids (no supposed bastards of his own, even with arrival of the Dragonseeds from obscurity), so I wonder if this was just a way to give him more relations with his house, show how devoted he was to his family's continuation and safety, lile he said so in Court the day he unfortunately died

Laena and Laenor weren’t dragons, just dragon riders. They had blood of Old Valeria but not the blood of the Dragon. Only Targaryens did.

There was literally a complete scene in ep2 of vhagar approaching leana because of noticing her sadness after viserys regected her proposal to marry and then laena claimed vhagar But they ended up cutting off the scene because they wanted to do a big reveal of vhagar in ep 6 Thought weeks before airing on tv some audience saw the ep in primeres or some other place and they said that the scene of vhagar was removed 😐

0 seconds ago This was probably my only criticism for HOTD. The pacing bothered me a lot. It did not dive into the Daemon/Laena or Harwin/Rhaenyra relationships as much as I wanted. Harwin and Rhaenyra where very important people in Daemon and Rhaenyra’s lives and it would’ve been nice to seen them because they were great individual characters that I wanted to see more onscreen. HOTD should’ve been a 13 episode show because that would’ve given us more time to explore relationships, characters, and plot lines. Other than that, HOTD is great!!!

I would've like to see more of those 2 relationships as well, but the point of season 1 was to get us FAMILIAR with the central players in the Dance of the Dragons. Season 1 is solely setting up the Dance. There's so much story there, but they didn't want to drag all that out for multiple seasons. Their plan is to get to the action so people don't get bored.

The theories i have seen on it is that while they share traits, they don't need to be the same ones or perhaps it is on a more surface level such as both Laena and Aemond being quite fearless

Because Daemon was areadt married. This move was moreso about Daemon looking for ways to gain power, potentially to usurp the title of heir despite Viserys' wishes, and marrying Laena meant that he was gaining power between the Targereyn's and the Velaryons.

Because Daemon is seen as dangerous and ambitious by Viserys council, so him marrying into the biggest nuke in the world without his brother’s blessing could be seen as sneaky attempts at gaining power for a war

That poor little actors wig ): I hope Rhaena and Beala get good arcs to soften the blow of their mothers poor representation. Wish we got more screen time of her relationship with Daemon but i get why the 1st season went so fast. Cheers to the other black female characters(in this version) getting something cool to do next season other than die or get married lol

I think out of all the stuff that was missed during the time skip Laena by far was the most hard hit. Hopefully your right and Baela and Rhaena won't get sidelined as well in season 2
