I grew up in Dallas in the 80's watching WccW and the Von Erich's! Anyone who knows about Dallas Wrestling in the 80's knows that it was all about them Von Erich Brothers! They were as over with the fans as you could get, and then some! I've yet to see anything like it since, BUT....As popular as the Von Erich Brothers were....There was ONLY one other guy who wasn't a Von Erich that had the POPULARITY, LOVE, and RESPECT, of the Texas Wrestling fan......Bruiser F'n Brody! 💪😡 I saw this Man MANY TIMES, in person right here in Dallas at the Sportatorium, Reunion Arena, and also once at the old Texas Stadium...Also saw him MANY TIMES over in Ft. Worth at Will Rodgers Coliseum & Tarrant County Convention Center! That's not to mention all the times I saw him on TV as well! Because Brody was in such high demand all over the world, us fans would only see him 3-4 times a year come to Dallas for a few weeks at a time, and then we might not see him again for 4-5 months later,, but whenever Brody did come back into Dallas, we fans knew we were in for a treat if Brody was on the card! No wonder he was in such high demand all over the world the way he was! I think Bruiser Brody & Andre the Giant were probably the two most in demand wrestlers worldwide!! 🌎 Outside of Dallas, Brody was a heel in a lot of the other promotions he wrestled for, but when he came here to Dallas, he was a baby face, and we loved, and liked him just as much as we did Fritz, Kerry, Kevin, and David Von Erich! I'm glad I can say that I got to meet him, shake his hand, and take a picture with him right outside of the Sportatorium one Friday in 1985, but I'm also glad that I can say....I saw this Man many times in person, doing what he did best, and that was beating the hell out of whoever the poor bastard was that had to climb into the ring with him! I remember this one Friday night at the Sportatorium in 1987, I'll never forget it, I was at the concession stand talkin' to a Girl I'd met that night, when all the sudden we hear this loud BAM BAM BAM, with about 5-6 cops screaming for the people to MOVE MOVE MOVE.... By the time I turned around to see wtf was goin' on, here came Brody and Abdullah the Butcher....Brody was just beating the hell out of Abby with a folding chair, and both of em bleeding like crazy, and it was all goin' down no more than 5ft away from me, and this Girl right in front of that concession stand that was just off to the right of the dressing room! 😁😁 What a guy!!👍 Thank you Mrs. Barbara Goodish for sharing your memories and thoughts about a Man that I'll always admire, and have a ton of respect for!! RIP Frank "Bruiser Brody" Goodish! Thanks for some great memories Brother!🙏🙏
Hi, I am so glad see bruiser Brody wife, talk about him, oh yes I remember him still, and I know someone who have met him in person back when she was young, she is so proud to have meet such a legend, bruiser Brody talk to her about the blood on his poor head, now she's in the 50s she's still talk about Brody, wow I admire your courage and bravery, I'm glad to hear the truth. . thank you so much. R.I.P Mr Brody, you well always be remembered. thank you for sharing this video.
Excellent. It really puts you behind the scenes. Not in the staged way that other documentaries are. This is done a way that speaks to the viewer saying emphatically that it is authentic without the bells and whistles.
great job; I have 47,000 twitter followers o my two twitter feeds and i'm sharing this Monday; I'm writing an article on Bruiser next month; This needs to be seen by lots of people. thank you Barbara and Brodie!
ever since I first saw Bruiser Broody he has always been and always be my favorite wrestler of all time. When I was a kid and played backyard wrestling with my friends I was always Brody . Nobody better. ....Nobody.
The first time I ever saw Bruiser Brody (Frank Goodish) was at a weightlifting meet at the YMCA in Shreveport, La. in 1975. He was about 260 lbs at the time. I was a competitor and he was at the YMCA working out.
Good Interview Matt! One quick correction, Brody won his first championship on October 10, 1974 teaming with Stan Hansen to defeat Johnny Eagles and Terry Latham for the Tri-State United States Tag Championships. Took place at the old Kings Highway television studios in Shreveport Louisiana. They held the championships a few times while in the old Leroy McGuirk territory. That was the first territory after breaking in through Fort Worth/Dallas. Of course you know I'm a longtime Brody mark and have researched his career and worked with Larry Matysik on the Brody book.
My commentary at the beginning was reviewed and researched for authenticity by Barbara herself. I think she crosschecked everything with Larry. Not sure how we missed that piece of information.
She seems like a nice lady. Just wish she & her family got the justice they not only deserved, but is LONG overdue. To have some punk get away with murder, is B.S.
When you see what happened and how Bruiser treated that guy, people (certain people) at least will try to defend the killer and say "Well Bruiser Brody was a bully and didn't have to cross that line the way he did". what people don't see was Frank Goodish was protecting the character of Bruiser Brody by not allowing some jobber, way smaller, way less talented to get over on him . and it's with Main event Stars, it made logical sense to the person in the Ring to not insult the fans... it's like Andre the Giant losing to Rey Mysterio jr. It's possible but you probably leave shaking your head if you saw that. it's no excuse to kill someone though just because you took an ass whooping in the ring. The Booker should have used someone else to give that guy the push.
He was my favorite wrestler, He totally destroyed the other guys. Even non wrestling fans would noticed the match on the tv and go what the going on lol He really brought attention to the sport.
You are incorrect about his beginnings in wrestling. He was working for Merchants Freight in Dallas, Texas. We trained together at the Worth Health Studio in Fort Worth, Texas and moved to Doug's Gym in Dallas where the owner Doug Eids convinced him to go into professional wrestling. Frank made his debut as "The Bouncer" coming out of the audience. I knew him very well before his wrestling days.
