Drilled the holes for the split rings today,put the clamps on the center post for all the bands also. Coming along slowly but surely. Really enjoying this project Colin. Thank you Mick
Take your time Mick. I've found sometimes just hanging off has saved me loads of mistakes. I'm loosely planning the CitiHex for the end of September but if it takes longer, so be it.
A smaller Hexbeam is such a great idea. The standard hexbeam is deemed small but it actually isn’t. A smaller one would be very welcomed I think and commercially very popular if someone made them. I really want a hexbeam here, my garden is 7x30m so there’s room, but I’m conscious of my neighbours. Great channel Colin loving your content 👍

Thanks for sharing. What a great project you have achieved, be good to see how it works to vk/ zl, as 20m is the only band open down here, but did get into gm recently on 20m ssb. To be honest it would look well out of place in my garden compared to my discreet verts, and I wouldn't have the patients, time or money to attempt that. But I am very interested to see how it fares with some long haul dx. Well done Colin, 73.
Thanks mate. Yes its not too discrete. provides much convenience though a a beam on 20m up. Even I wont get it up too much. I have a couple of days to myself in July and hope to make the most of it, probably 20m through the night conditions permitting.
Thanks Mate. Its just over 1m long, perhaps 1.2m. I need to measure exactly. The idea is it will all fit into a speaker stand type bag. Pretty portable.
Hi Colin, great project and really interested in building one myself. Any chance you think a fibreglass pole could support the hex beam, like your 12.4m DX Commander? They themselves sell plastic hose clamps used for each section, which I'm thinking might be good enough for the downforce if you put the hexbeam 6m up it. Cheers!
Collin, are you going to release a complete video vuild start to finish of the lightweight field hexbeam? I'm planning on a trip to the South Pacific in 2 years or so and I'd love to be able to build this antenna to take along for some activations.
