as a drummer myself: When nobody talks about you in a Band that gets received as "good music" you have done a perfect job. There are Bands that Focus on Drums in more progessive Genres. Look at Sleep Token or Porcupine Tree, everyone knows II or Gavin Harrison. But in Music like this you rarely are the focus point and it usually feels pretty good to have no talking about you. That just means you are doing good and the people are happy with the music.

So I don't personally believe that to be the strongest argument. But you are correct about lyrics being open ended and open to interpretation. Only the person(s) who wrote the lyrics actually know what they mean. Look at Fortunate Son by CCR. Most people think it is an anti-war song, but John Fogerty stated it was more a song about class and how the wealthy were dodging the draft. Maybe there is accuracy in assuming the lyrics of her previous work and Emptiness Machine apply to her views on Scientology, but its equally possible it is completely unrelated.

Yea this is my issue with this. Her beliefs are pretty crystal clear in her work and lyrics, yet everyone just seemingly assumes she must buy into the most extreme forms of this belief system, she wasn't even there by choice she had none since she was born into it. If this was any other religion literally no one would be talking about this. Absolutely no one knows her story or whether she's even still part of it. This has to do with the fact Chester Bennington, the man that MADE Linkin Park what it is. Had mental health issues and suffered while the scientology community would say they don't exist. It's interesting. We all think about how awesome being rich and famous must be-- everyone loves us and we can do whatever we want and we can take care of all out loved ones. But it's only the image that we see. But-- people make mistakes all the time. Art is one of those things that allows people to reconcile the darker parts of their lives where they seriously messed up, and so much of Chester Bennington's songs were about that; not just the pain that was brought to him, but the pain he passed on to others. It's something we all do. If you want to be a famous artist of any type-- I really think the only way to handle is to own yourself one hundred percent and absolutely completely, because any issues that you might have are only going to be amplified because famous people are under constant scrutiny. Not to mention, committing your life to an art form is not for the faint of heart-- we all THINK we can do it, but it takes some serious fucking commitment and discipline and COURAGE to put yourself out there. The early 2000s had TONS of drama. The magazines and TV fed off it. The "wardrobe malfunction" caused by Justin Timberlake, the Madonna and Britney Spears kissing on stage, etc. I mean come on they even created fake drama, they had Sasha Baron Cohen as Bruno sit on Eminem's lap at the VMAs or whatever and Eminem had an outburst. It was all staged to promote the Bruno movie. Not to mention all the rap beef. I'm convinced all the people glamorizing the 2000s actually forgot what went down back then.
