Awesome and well thought out. I'm glad you made these vid's on how to do this. I starting a project on my Jon boat and this is a must have for my project....thanks
Thank you for the video, most helpful. My only comment is after watching many other live well videos, they recommend not placing the fill at the back of the boat near the motor. It could fill with hot or warm polluted water. I could be wrong, just a thought. Thanks for the good work you're putting out there.
I always wondered how the livewell gets filled / drained. Man I'm gonna have bilge pumps all over the place. Thinking about just using one of those 12v bubblers for aeration and some sortof bilge pump rigup for filling / draining. I'm in too deep on my project. LOL.
Nice video, lots of hard work and you're doing a great job with the video. I'm no expert but I'm not quite sure why you have the pump for draining? Wouldn't it be easier & cheaper to run a drain hose to the back of the boat, thru another bulk head connector and then simply uncork the bottom hole in your live well when you're done? Also I'm sure you're going to put in an over-fill hole which you could tie into the drain hose. You can connect your source pump thru a one-way valve into your spray assembly.
To be honest I never thought of that, haha. That would be easier, however I'm not sure if it would work in my situation. There is a 3" by 3" (about) box basically that sticks out of the bottom of the livewell and sits about 1/4" off the bottom of the boat. that is the lowest point where i have my drain, but the drain is unable to be on the bottom because i would have no room for any connections, so its on the side. because its on the side, i would not be able to get a drain plug in there. I see what your saying, thats a good idea and I'm going to see if I can do that. it would be nice to have the run off using the same system
hey make the fell line go right in the top of the live well that way no junk gets into the pump but id also have some kind of screen catch when pumping lake water into the live well you really dont want things getting clogged up right when your trying to fill up the live well for a day of fishing but id have the line go right into the live well and not in the lines itself ounce filled shut pump off and add a valve just incase water trys to come from the lake threw the fill up line and i know the pumps have screens are something of that nature but make sure theres something for a second catch. keep up the good work man looking good. p.s i know i was working on mine but had to stop for family reasons but i still keep up on urs piece out.
Can you take a pic or something of how your attached your pump to the transom? Did you just drill the hole, put the pump in and then put the flange in and added the screen? I feel like its sticking out too far out of the transom. Just looking for how you did yours:)
just wondering, could you not install a Y pipe with two ball valves on the intake of one pump? you could close one and open one to pump water in then close the intake and open the one on the bottom of the tank for recirc?( sorry spelling) that way you could get away with just one pump?
yeah that is very true. i think thats how mike did his. this was my first time installing a livewell system and there are much easier ways of doing it now that i have messed with it haha. this was just a learning experience for me but yeah i wouldn't go threw all the trouble i did.
Hey I really like this video and I wanted to do the same with my 14 ft Jon Boat Tracker Topper but I'm worried to put a hole in the back of my boat so the water can come in and I was wondering how you did that or was the hole all ready there. Thanks
