I think you should give his films another watch. This was John Glen near the top of his directing game, way better than A View To A Kill, where it feels like he totally half-arsed it just to give Roger one more film, and on par if not above For Your Eyes Only (Dalton would have been excellent in that film) and Octopussy. However, nothing beats Licence To Kill, he claimed it was his best film and I am inclined to agree. Also. Dumb plots? Bad screen writing? Awful fight scenes? I'll take a smart (if ever so slightly too complicated) Cold War spy thriller and a brutal revenge thriller over what is essentially Goldfinger '85, where Roger Moore could barely get up a flight of stairs without one of the many (rather obvious) stunt doubles stepping in to cover him. I loved him as Bond, but he should have quit in '83, he was far too old. Timothy on the other hand did alot of his own stunts which are brilliantly choreographed, and have a great sense of brutality to them, especially in his second film. But opinions I guess. Dalton remains my favourite Bond tied with Connery, he was Fleming's creation truly brought to life, and his films reflected that. Smart, dangerous, brutal, but with just enough of that playboy charm and humour to offset the nasty side of Bond's profession.
