i don’t know is there anyone still hearing to this soundtrack in 2021 but still today. it is the best score i ever heard in the whole james bond series. it is truly classic.
This has always been my favorite Bond film. Such a great balance of old and new, silly and serious, over-the-top and plausible. John Berry was at the height of his game. The A-Ha theme song is criminally underrated. Timothy Dalton disappears into the role in a way that none of the other actors portraying Bond ever have. Maryam d'Abo is perhaps the only genuinely sweet and likable Bond girl from the entire franchise. Everything about this movie just feels perfect to me.
In the late eighties / early nineties, this particular track was the background for the weekly radio broadcast of the Top 40 in the Netherlands. It was cool as fuck.
A shame this film was underrated at the time...its brilliant!! Timothy Dalton is really good (and appreciate his unique Bond style) and Maryam D'abo was one of the best Bond girls ever!! (I just wish that Timothy Dalton accepted the Bond role for OHSS instead of Lazenby. He declined as he felt he was too young at the time...how much better that film would have been if Dalton played Bond back in 1969!)
+Last Ninja Pierce Brosnan would have the dalton films, if Remington steele wasn't un-cancelled.... But you're right, Pierce would been a bit unseasoned and too young to be Bond, and his films had too many toilet jokes in them. In terms of real and ruthless spy action, Dalton and Craig are near dead even, with the Dalton getting the edge(Quantum of Solace was an utter mess.)
The looping industrial percussion in this really sells the horns. By the time the trumpet hits, you're well into the heroism of the action, but then the strings come in and add more drama. Barry was a king.
John Barry was in a class of his own. Seldom have I enjoyed a Bond score as much as this one, let alone any movie score. While he might be gone in person, his soul will live on eternally through his "next to none" music. Diamonds are not the only things that are forever.
fav bond of all time ! sorry timothy they did not appreciate or relish your talents . you were ahead of your time and played the true james bond according to fleming's complex character- flaws and all
This song is by far the best in the film! The Living Daylights is by far my favorite James Bond film and I love Timothy Dalton! He was a great Bond! This song gives me goosebumps when I listen to it! It was such a classic masterpiece! P.S. if you listen to this song on the DVD on the main menu it made such a good fit with all of the little action clips that are played on the main menu!
@@daegnaxqelil2733 The film is fine when taken in context. People who look back at anything with a modern lens and judge it by such a standard are missing not only the point but the mystique and fun pf film on the most basic level.
@@daegnaxqelil2733 It has aged very well in comparison to other Bond films of the 80's, but who cares about whether a film feels modern or not? It was made in the 1980's, naturally it's going to reflect the style and culture of the era, it's a brilliant action film and my personal favourite of the entire series!
@@Spoggi99YT It is not easy to play any instrument (I practise piano) so kudos to you for playing trumpet - an instrument that always makes Bond soundtracks more epic!
@@Spoggi99YT Have you played this piece before?? As John Lennon/Bryan Ferry said "I'm just a jealous guy" Always been drawn to saxophone and brass in general but never dabbled, trumpet is a true skill having to slide those notes around, trumpet players don't get enough credit, without them we wouldn't have this exceptional piece, can't see it working with any other instrument, sounds sharp and dangerous in this track...
This is one of my fave tracks from all the Bond soundtracks. To me it has a blend of old Western style sound in it with kind of a military tune. It's great.
This movie managed to be over the top, while remaining fairly grounded and realistic, for the most part. Very faithful to Ian' Flemming's vision of Bond.
@@Gamingnstuff131 By no coincidence whatsoever, those are my two favourite instalments. They manage to be over the top, but still realistic. And few other have such a globetrotting travel magazine wrapped in a realistic spy thriller feel to them. That, for me, is the quintessence of James Bond adventures.
This is by far my favorite music moment from the whole franchise. That and Ice Chase. Notable mention Bill Contis music from FYEO. Living Daylights might be my favorite Bond movie and Dalton is still my favorite Bond.
Sanders (006) didn´t realize what Bond is all about with his quote: " forget the ladies for once Bond"! for sure the best Bond movie with the best soundtrack!
In my humble oppinion the best Bond movie overall. Timothy is my second best Bond after Pierce ... And this whole movie is so underrated, to the disgrace level
The forever majestic sound by John Barry to accompany the super spy taking off a huge Hercules.. many other Bond flies fighter jet but TD is able to fly the beast.
The theme fits so well with the scene of the Herc taxing down and finally lifting off. The whole soundtrack is a masterpiece to one of the best Bond films out there. I prefer Connery, but Dalton is easily a close second.
Barry's last 007 soundtrack and its one of his best and that poster is also one the best theatrical poster . I been looking for years for it finally found it .
Due to You Tube we can listen again , I remember seeing this at the Manchester Odeon in the summer of 1987 and a month later seeing at a Canon cinerma in n~~~Amsterdam seeing it in dutch subtitles with in English consider the fact that 9 of 10 hollanders speak English its no problem for them
This whole soundtrack is amazing. I’m tempted to play it while driving, but that might be a horrible idea, I can see myself changing lanes all crazy and trying to jump the divide.
