Yes please, forget the card game for once. Give me tales behind the monsters we play. Two or three 90-minute movies should be enough to cover the main conflict within DT.
Duel terminal has always fasinated me and makes me wish we had a Chaotic style cartoon/anime about this cause card games having lore like this is amazing. Plus for being the first overarching story paves the way. Even thou the cards were sometimes.....ehh, this whole thing walked so that ones like World Legacy and Dogmatika could run and prove how good lore cards could be
Agreed. Without stuff like art and lore like this, card games just become a series of numbers we agree interact in a certain way. Hopefully one day they'll make a decision to flesh it out a bit more, but until then, I'll gladly expound on what they give me xD

Thank you for all the effort, this is easily the best duel terminal lore video I've ever seen that not come from niconico.I still remember when shaddoll first came out, people in japan anticipated the plot in every set like crazy. It's like followed a real anime and wait for the new episode to drop.That's something really special and can not reexperience from other card games. It's such a shame that duel terminal lore largely stays underappreciated in TCG, hope more modern players can find this fascinating aspect of the game. This project will be a long way to go, don't stress yourself too much.
@@GoldenNovaYugioh There not much difference in term of interpretation of the story itself, it's just that OCG player base have more familiarity regarding the lore. Most OCG players I know invest lots of emotion into those stories, and really have a special place in heart for those archetypes. Some TCG players thought people are trolling to vote for ice barrier to get a structure deck, but the real reason is ice barrier are legit popular here. If you really want to see from Japanese perspective, search "遊戯王 DT" on youtube, unfortunately the result will be after the language barrier.

This is awesome! These overarching storylines are one of my favorite aspects of the game. The fact that it’s primarily told through the cards themselves is really neat. That being said, the original DT storyline is admittedly one of the least fleshed-out of these (mainly because a majority of the archetypes have hardly any spells/traps to detail events (some of them don’t even have any at all!)), but while the Master Guide helps with some of it, I’m very intrigued about your own additions, especially with the Worms’ adaptability aspect. I know the original support had the alphabet naming scheme, which wouldn’t leave room for other additions, but the idea of reforming their cellular structures to adapt to the opposing climates is really interesting. They could have ice-encased troops for the tundra (similar to Hope or Solid), lava slugs for the hotter areas, tanks with rocky/spiky carapaces for the mountain ranges, etc. They’d still be light and have flip effects, but maybe they could get bonus effects if they’re going against certain opponents. Theory-crafting aside, I’m really glad you’re covering this series, and I cannot wait for the next installment!

Yeah, the Master Guides were a big help, there's a section where they talk about how Worm Zero really is just a giant mass of liquified Worms that covered a planet, and after thinking of how it all COULD work together, it just seemed too cool NOT to use as part of the story. I've been waiting for someone to tell a story about the Duel Terminal world and all the cards that were released during that time. Sure, some had done so before, but most of them don't really continue it or just small synopsis of it, which I don't mind the latter. So I'm glad that you're now doing these stories and I really can't wait for the next part.

THAT'S gonna be one of those unsolved mysteries for a long time, I feel like xD I feel like we can rule out Ice Barrier (environment doesn't seem to match), but since they're in those yellow hazmat suits it's hard to tell. The only thing I can think of is...Worm Zero is floating over a very modern looking city, which seems VERY out of place. Maybe it's a very humanoid tribe we don't really touch on?
I really liked your dissection of the dogmatika/tri-brigade/springans stuff, so I’m looking forward to a video explaining the story that existed well before I got back into Yugioh again. I’ve always been fascinated by the use of individual, separate cards to tell a connected story, so I’m really excited to see where you go with this.
So stoked to see this, we never had a definitive video about this lore, at least not one that didn't drag like crazy. You did a great job with the Dracoslayer story despite having little to work with, so I'm really looking forward to the latter parts of this story, even though alot of it boils down to amalgamations of older monsters fighting. I was a big fan of the focus on the world of the story so we know the factions we're dealing with, just a suggestion more than a critism, but when you discuss a archetype in a broad sense, I think it would help visually if you went trough the different monsters, as long as they wouldn't be used later on. For example at 6:17 you could scroll trough some lesser worms to give an idea of the variety of monsters involved in it. There's lots of cards that are irrelevant to the lore, so that might liven it up a bit. Not even a problem with the vid, just an idea. RU-vid did everything it could to keep me watching this, buried it in my subs and refused to recommend it, so liking and leaving a comment because this deserves it. Your Dogmatika video got a deserved substantial boost in views, and I hope this follows suit, looking forward to the series! 😀

this begs the qustion...why the hell was this never turned into a spinoff anime? we have all the makings of a great story a world-sized conflict characters with varying motivations and goals more potential action than all of the yugioh series combined all in a yugioh packadge that is blend both fantasy and scifi
Just out of curiosity, what's everything favorite archtype from the duel terminal. For me, it dragunity, i just love dragon and synchros and i felt they where one of the best equip themed decks in the game.

I'm thinking some time in May! The amount of work that went into this means I can't do them often and keep my usual schedule, but the response to this has been so positive, I'm going to plan to do these regularly, if only once a month.

Holy shit i play duel links and got pandemic infestation in selection boxes.so decided to build evilswarm and hence i come to know one of the greatest story of yu gi oh multiverse.
I used the cards, Master Guide 3 and Master Guide: Duel Terminal! However, a LOT of stuff was added by me for flavor. For instance, the names Ignium, Polacti, and the Everblade Mountain Range were all me.
Bit of a late response, but these cards were made for the arcade machine, Duel Terminal. It's a kind of predecessor to Duel links. The new cards started there, and since there was no official name for the story, it's the easiest way to identify it.
The original upload had a rendering bug (part of the intro sequence didn't load right), so I decided it was better to fix the video and upload it a bit later so it was how I wanted it to be. Sorry for the confusion!
