Such a well done video! I grew up in Las Vegas and never had the desire to visit northern NV because it seemed bleak and desolate to me, but you proved otherwise! Lehman Caves is now a must-see for me.

I drove down that road last summer. There was a point where I could see for miles in every direction and no one was around. It's probably the most alone I've ever been, a very weird feeling.

Will it be hot to drive there during summer ?

@@amyyu8867 Most likely. It rained the day I drove down the road and it was still very hot.

Just completed the "Loneliest Road" last month. It is full or geologic wonders and history. And, at least now, not lonely at all. Well done video and drone shots.

It's my favorite road to drive on!!! It's so smooth and so much to see and do! A MUST STOP is Middlegate Station at 50 & 361. They have the BEST bacon cheeseburger I've ever had! Also, Eureka is way cool and Great Basin Nat'l Park is one of my favorite places!!!! PS: Ft Churchill is an awesome place! Great video!

I love highway 395 from Lone Pine up to the Lake Tahoe area. I really want to check out route 50 now however.

395 and 50 are my two favorite roads. 50 is absolutely worth it. There's this dusty little roadside tavern and café in a little place called Middlegate at road 361 and 50. Stop there if you can. Good food. There might still be lodging there too. There's literally nothing else in the area.

My wife and I just completed this road trip and are going to be mailing in our stamp books! Austin was almost wholly closed up with the exception of the International Cafe - definitely not recommended! Eureka was perfect with lunch at the Owl Cafe 👍, Ely was good and glad we got there....almost forgot, stop at Middlegate Station- what a terrific lunch stop....

The US-6 in Nevada should be called "The Loneliest Road in America", since US-6 is about 300 miles across Nevada from California state line to Utah state line and only have two towns. Tonopah is both unincorporated town and designated census place, while Ely is incorporated city. Tonopah has a population of more then 2,000 people, and the population of Ely is 4,000 people. There is no service (food, gas, and lodging) for 167 miles between Tonopah and Ely Nevada, and again for 84 miles between Benton California and Tonopah Nevada. And it is more removed land then US-50 across Nevada which is more then 400 miles in length, with 5 towns which is no more than 70 miles without food, gas, and lodging.

One thing to note: a lot of Nevada highways are like this. Long stretches of desert broken by mountains occasionally. Highway 93, north of Ely to Wells, is just like it. Maybe not as many tourist stops along it, but still, very little but the landscape and the sky to keep you company. Nevada is a very beautiful state to drive through. Just imagine going down that road from Austin to Ely at night with the stars overhead and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd playing on your stereo. Now, that's a magical experience.

7 years ago I did the drive from Salt Lake to Great Basin NP. Since my flight was way late I did the majority of that drive at night, no moon. That was the Utah portion of US 50. But it was ridiculously, scary lonely. Once I passed the town of Delta, I did not see another car for two hours, till I crossed into Nevada and found a little casino.

Never understood why it got the moniker. It is a busy road, you can see another car at least every 30-60 minutes. There are much lonelier roads in the West where you might not see another car all day. There is lots to see and some dirt roads off to the side that are quite interesting and scenic.

One of the best trips ever is crossing Nevada on Hay 50. Be sure to top of your tank every time you can, if you don't like crowds like I don't, this is a wonderful trip. If there had been better employment opportunities, I would have stayed there, the small population. is a direct result of the lack of employment opportunities, so I just visit and dream of being able to live there.

I know driving that road is looooooooonnnnnnnnggggggggg ! The Winnemucca route was the only time we went that way on to Montana just as a different way to go than our normal route from 395 to HW 6. though Tonapah then Ely then93 to Wells Nv. Thats a looooonnnnnngggg drive as well but its what makes it what it is. VERY LONG!!! hahah
