Interesting since I was born in Virginia. but I haven't been there lately my descendants fault in the civil war my family is from Virginia well I don't think they ever been to Richmond but I did have a sister that lived in Richmond Virginia
I think it’s actually really awesome how Los Angeles seized control of the Owens River because now the LADWP owns the land adjacent to the river and keeps it open for public access to fishermen instead of it being owned by private ranches.
Northern California had to ration water as Southern California watered their sidewalks, washed their cars and watered their lawn n plants. California should be North n South California at Monterey. The north gets the water and stores it only to send it to the LA basin. It will never happen because LA basin will never vote to lose their stolen water .
Only a quarter of the water is actually going to the lake, 😂 it was diverted during the water wars , they dint have the technology that they have today , so now los Angeles send all the extra water out to sea😮
Nice to see criminals get consequences of their actions, even if the law won't hold them accountable. Landowners have restrictions for the number of animals they can keep with availability of water and grazing, why are cities allowed to overpopulate?
when my son lived in LA about 2018 to 2021 - I flew out to visit him a couple times - as the plane flew over 30 min of total dense residential some industrial commercial but mile and miles for 30 minutes descending into LA - I would look out the window ; wonder and imagine how many toilets are flushing?
If we can, or did send people to the moon, and now on to Mars, we certainly could devise a workable desalination process for large populations on the edges of our world’s oceans. Failing to do this could trigger wars of various types and sizes, up to “The one that wiped out the human race.”
Today with an extended drought and aquifers in the desert getting low, those high population centers along the Pacific coast need to get serious about desalination plants to supply their needs. Look to Israel for the technology. Americans looking for the inexpensive and easy solution will be casting greedy eyes on Canadian fresh water and how to steal that soon.
I served aboard the Midway in 1980 with VMFP-3, a Marine photo recon squadron flying RF-4B's. I've been back to the ship a few times since it opened as a museum. Thanks for this video!!
I am so sad that you are no longer adding videos to this unique and fantastic channel. I just hope that these videos will remain public for us all to enjoy as I have many more to watch!
The expansion of the aqueduct didn't take water from Mono Lake, as it is saline. I did in fact divert water from 7 tributary streams and cause sever harm to the ecosystem there.
Water may become the next war if global warming materializes and common drought takes places. Only if we can capture most of the runoff from the Sierra into lakes where they once were and new reservoirs. The other option is to control the weather.
Aquaducts 1884 LA Frederick edin Superintendent 108 square miles 40000 ft above sea level What owens ??? Every city polytechnic the only subject most controversial is environmental engineering Engineering students are taught environmental engineering ......now almost every branch of engineering only learn environmental science ??? Why ???? Lucrative pay scale for lecturers in city polytechnics and engineering College Lined canals No mayor is interested in sharing salary details
Did you know that i pay for the water i drink Stop blaming for ...........what ............some guys do ....and ......we face .......... Water treatment plants Stp Intakes Intake wells Wells Wells Almost everybody in the city and surrounding areas .....water is tapped through the hydraulic pump .....to storage tanks either on roof. My landlord collects money for water consumption so dont blame me ....... Refer to paper publication on water treatment Peer reviewed ....... I cannot afford models ..........so ....based on my paper several city polytechnic and engineering colleges have done protype models ....of water treatment based on water quality standards WHO BIS
California, not just Los Angeles County, should follow Southern Nevada's example of real water conservation practices,.. southern Nevada, specifically Las Vegas metropolitan area in Clark County has been recapturing most of its water usage, 90% of it, then cleans it and recycles the water back to Lake Mead so that it could be reused,..because of this, the Las Vegas metropolitan area which includes the cities of Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas, has more than doubled in population from the 1980s, yet now manages to use less water now than what it did in the 1980s.
"Hogwash" as they used to say. A $24,500,000.00 total budget runs out of money in just over 3yrs on just the simple labor, which by most accounts was about 5,000 workers @.70 an hr, which would have been a dismal wage given that was an avg in western states for general labor in "cities" at that time. If one wished to cut timber in nice cool forests he'd earn. 75cents an hr. This was a "reclamation" project, which did require cleanup and dredging of an existing system that mostly survived the last cataclysmic reset. And this isn't a one off water system project, the same narrative of "miraculous engineering, record time" is in every single county across the globe between 1850-1910s. We been played, and sadly it appears another reset will soon be set upon current plebs. 😏
Why should I save water? Who am I saving it for? Oh yeah, the wealthy developer. My saved water is used to increase the wealth of the greedy f’ers who don’t want to pursue real solutions to our water problem. It has gotten so bad that when I do use my portion share of the water I get fined. When I don’t use enough water my HOA fines me. I must look like one of those victims from the Owens Valley.
Destination Bombay Beach. If you ever visit this place make Bombay your first visit! We use to fish for Corvina standing in the water in the middle of summer while it was 110°F outside!
