The trouble is that as soon as you dress Tony up in a Medieval costume you have Baldrick 😂

“Treadmill workers”: makes you wonder how the ancient Egyptians built their temples with massive 50ft columns. Temple of Dendur or Luxor temple etc. in a thousand years there would be no remnant of anything . Just the stone buildings.

Since they were so time-consuming to affix, why didn't they design openings for feces and urine to escape through their armor?
@MagdaleneDivine

27:18 think of this fact, they could build temples and cathedrals and yet everyone was still using little jars and bowls to throw their detritus out the window or in a hole in their backyard. Priorities and humans aren't really as well placed like ever

Why didn’t they design piss and poop release holes in their armor since they were so time consuming to take on and off?

You mean they relieved themselves in the armor and slept in it too? Ridiculous!
@johnlonkert7187
@johnlonkert7187 8 месяцев назад
Truth, they didn't take them off during the day, when they were on campaign. They could actually untie a couple ties and half remove bits if they werent actually fighting, but if they were in formation on or near the battlefield, they couldn't break ranks just to use the bathroom...they either held it or went where they were, especially if it was just to urinate.

The title is a lie. I thought it was gonna be all about knights, but they only talked about knights for the first 10 minutes or so.

In the original Blackadder series, in the episode "The Archbishop", Prince Edmund says of Sir Tabus Mortimer: "The King's hired killer." Says Prince Harry, "No, no, no. Mortimer! That tall, rather striking fellow with no ears." Says Prince Edmund, "Yes, that's him."

Did people not instinctively know that poop and mould and stuff were gross? Isn’t there some kind of genetic instinct to stay away from grossness?
@orcanimal
@orcanimal 8 месяцев назад
There is, but culture trumps instinct, as just these past couple of years have shown us all around the world... Consider alcohol. It doesn't taste sweet or savory, yet people consume it like it was holy water...

Interesting episode, but, tsk tsk, bad title.. A small segment shouldn't be presented as the subject of the full episode. If Real History were to entitle movies, we'd see something like "Homoerotic Volleyball | Top Gun | Paramount"

I think God would have understood if we had worked on proper waste and sewage removal before organized religion. Like even before parliament was invented. I just don't understand how that was optional.

Just not in Europe, sewage and septic systems were known and used in the Middle East, Central Asia, India but the earliest evidences lead to the Harappa civilization of the Indus Valley. There are records of the Persians, Moroccan travelers who were disgusted by the state of the European hygiene at that time
