Aren't there two cargo containers at the spot to the east of the lake in Timberwolf Mountain and did you go to the ones at the first waterfall upstream? I agree with you though that starting here provides the best start on Interloper, the hacksaw is invaluable. and the cargo containers will always contain needed supplies. I was actually playing TM runs on Stalker thinking the same thing, that if some of the best stuff is there better to get to it sooner rather than later, and for me maybe never, if I keep on being impatient and getting myself killed. I do love this game.
21:10 you tell us that there are plenty of ways of dealing with a wolf on you ... I waited for your "tips and tricks" on dealing with wolves but never heard any. So, what do think? When I hear a wolf bark it is normally coming for me. I've successfully kept my back to them and walked away careful to keep them off the screen (i.e, not looking at them)... but that doesn't always work. Should I face them or turn away? Should I back up, stand my ground, or approach? How should I deal with them with or without flares and torches?
The most important thing, of course, is to know where wolves spawn so you can look for them and avoid them. Never carry any meat, raw or cooked if you can help it. The smell attracts them (raw moreso than cooked). Try to always carry at least 1 animal guts. They don't attract wolves, but can be dropped as bait to lure them off of you. When a wolf sees you or smells you from a distance away, they will run toward you until they get a certain distance (the maximum follow distance), and then start walking toward you. Back away and keep them at that distance and try to use the landscape to block their line of sight. As soon as they can't see you, sprint out of their "follow range". You can even do as I did in the video, and sprint to a building or zone transition if one's nearby. Try to be as familiar as possible with your surroundings. Many times I've simply run over the edge of a steep rocky cliff where wolves can't navigate. Of course, there's always waving a flare at them and yelling to try to scare them off. You can also break line of sight then crouch down, greatly reducing the wolves detection distance. Try to stay downwind, or maneuver downwind. If you have to fight a wolf, start spamming left-click before the visual attack happens. There's a second or two where you can build up a "click buffer". Try to climb up every fallen/leaning tree you find, to know for the future whether it's possible to climb it or not. There are many, many trees you can climb to avoid being attacked (just don't climb on that horizontal one you see at 5:18 because they can get you there). That's about all I can think of for the moment. This video was actually the last time I played the game. I'm not crazy about the clothing update. I hope that helps.
If you crouch and walk back facing them, whey will keep walking to you (If they already saw you or they are attracted for your meat) but not attacking if they r not in the range of charging. It's similar when you crouch for hunting, also works for bears. Even if they are close, if you crouch you can be pretty much close to them without being attacked.That should you give you time to do what Graxster says.
Made it 29 days in my last play through on interloper. I also reccomend timberwolf mountain. the cat tails are so incredibly good for starting. Desolation Point is probably the worst starting map, and it's also one of the worst maps period on interloper to visit to. It was the death of me last run because I ran out of food and didn't have a bow and arrows yet. No fishing and yeah it's rough. What map do you like the most to settle in once you've looted most of all maps? I think I prefer Coastal Highway as the easiest map to settle in and do some hunting.

"Survive your 1st Interloper experience ..." ... I thought it's not possible to survive 1st attempt at Interloper ... like by design? But lets check - does anyone here is still playing at his 1st go thru Interloper (for like over a in-game week) ? :)
Graxter, seriously dude; why don't you do another Interloper? Many video makers are trying and cannot beat Interloper especially Cabin Fever. I know it can be survived. You should show them how to do it; one hour, one fire at a time.
that is.... a lot of things going right, but I really can't argue it. There are not enough good Interloper Tutorials on RU-vid, probably because there aren't enough good Interloper players, but we are using this as an example of a perfect start on our Facebook group right now and we would devour more episodes of this.
It will grow on you; it adds new dimensions to the game so again we must improvise, adapt and overcome. Just when we think we have mastered the game, they throw another curve ball at us. I felt the same way when they removed torches from fire and let the bear duck around fires. But Maestro GELtaz shows us that there is still a way and makes it look easy. Sir! Your videos are good, man. You can't just stop playing the game. You can see my videos and I stopped making them a year ago. I have been praising your video high and low. This is like a survival challenge; you MUST NOT give up! Surrender is not an option! In compensation of the clothing changes, it seems as if weather has improved. Saving and exiting game can bring bad weather on while sleeping an hour usually brings better weather. Now, more than ever, judgement plays a factor; judgement and luck. Your approach is correct. Science, knowledge, preparation, planning. Very solid. Many others attempt to do Interloper and I cringe. You and GELtaz do it right. Please don't let these changes discourage you. I know how you feel; you invest time to develop a solid approach and then they change it on you. Well that is what mother nature does so what choice do we have? This is a great game. Trust me; they have carefully re-balanced again. I think they listened to my feedback about weather being a killer. Also note that the snow has an effect upon the weight of clothing as well as wetness and ice on the clothing. This is an excellent example of real life survival. The key would seem to have two sets of clothing, one drying at all times and a light set for good weather. As always, how much to carry is more important than ever. Don't carry wood; move it to the intended location and stock pile it. Each trip has its purpose. Moving bases may entail multiple trips; I don't know. I think there are many ways to play now; light and fast or staged with base camps along the intended route, like climbing Everest. Don't give up. Who seconds this?
Graxter, don't give up on this game. I know you are a strong player; don't let these changes get under your skin. Ppl on the forum are complaining that the wolves are getting tougher; yes, they are. But that's the point. We asked for them to make it harder and they did. They made this game challenging; well good!! I was angry when they took away the fire exploit, where you could get torches from the fire and the fire would trap the bear. I got over it. There are other good players who show us easily how to cope with wolves and spare clothing. Look how GT does it! He leaves almost everything behind, even the food and just brings firewood and high-tails it! Some of us take the base camp approach and that's perfectly valid. It's what I would do in real life. To just take only a few things and high-tail it, that takes guts but sometimes, for some challenges, that's the only way to beat the weather! You've got to high-tail it when the weather is good! You can criticize me too; I haven't made another video in over a year. Can I ask you something? Do you think our community supports each other? I do. I think it's what makes this game different.
would be kool if the game. was like minecraft maps..that procedural map deal..that would be kool..the fact that people are memorizing the maps is kinda wack..also.they should add fire starting by stick rubbing.but if hands are to cold cant make fire...
