Before the pandemic, there was an annual dramatization of what happened during this time entitled "Dagon sa Hoyohoy", which was held at the Bohol Cultural Center.

Thank you so much for this amazing video..😊 i really love it..!!❤️ my ancestors came from bohol as the story in our clan that our great3x grand father joined that revolution and when the spanish again took control of bohol.. they migrated north to an island known before as ISLA DE PANAMAO now Biliran. A safe haven for the the revolutionaries to continue their fight for independence.😊
this video deserves a thousand of likes and share. to those viewers who sees this video pls kindly like and share as a way of supporting our local historian Kirby Araullo. #SupportLocalHistorians
hi just recently found your channel, great work at salamat sa pag gawa ng mga vids. Anyway Im a Bol-anon I heard from my father that 'Dagohoy' derived from phrase 'Dagook sa hangin'g hoyohoy' somewhat translate to 'sudden (action) (force) in a peaceful breeze' close to how you defined it. He got the name when he suddenly appears to one battlefield to another. Keep making cool videos 🇵🇭
what a story, Dagohoy is such a brave fearless bisayan man, If I was born on that time I would do the same to join the movement. But sadly they're using the neighborhood island to defeat them, and we are fighting ourselves a good art of war for the spaniards. Now that I know what he did to our country God Bless this man and the boholanos..
The Dagohoy Revolution was considered the longest among the Indio revolt in the Philippine Archipelago. Filipino and Foreign Historians set aside the fact that the Cordillerans in the North and the Moros in the south were Independent entities fighting and sometimes establishing treaties with the Spaniards for the 300 years of Spanish Colonialism.
It's because the flag was not a symbol of a united archipelago (la islas filipinas). It was made by tagalog revolutionaries and their allied provinces for their dream government. *The 3 stars -Luzon -Panay (it is not even the whole visayas) -Mindanao The sun rays are tagalog provinces allied to each others who revolted.
Looks like Boholanos and people from Mindanao are luckier than people from Luzon because Mindanao wasn't fully colonized during that time. And about the death of Dagohoy's brother, God must be super upset too.
people of bohol also resisted islam. they fought against the atrocities of islam and christianity. visayans did that. only manila and sulu were converted to islam. visayans actually have something twice over to be proud of.
@@gosen1776 go watch all of kirby's video coz that's what he's been trying to imply to people. i only mentioned manila and sulu. i didn't say luzon unless u people think that manila and luzon are the same.
Sana gumawa sila ng mga documentary na katulad nito(na set in 1700s) kung tutuusin Ang dadaming magagaan gawing documentary film lalu na set in 1700s or early 1800s puro 1890s kasi mga documentary ngayon skl
It is tragic that the Filipino's ideas about Philippine History was primarily shaped by American colonial rule. Who chose Rizal as the natonal hero? The Americans! Bonifacio, who never won a single battle became the father of the Revolution! An opportunist, Pedro Paterno, became a hero. Filipnos must rediscover their history.
Sagarino would not have been allowed to be buried in the church cemetery because he was not given the last rights. So Dagohoy would've had to dig the burial site elsewhere, which usually ends up in the forests.
Several of pure boholano surnames are not spanish but gotten its surnames from pure boholano/bisaya dialect. Because they refuse to use it as one of the reason of their opposition against foreign rule. Might be laughable as it seems to others but so proud how they stand on it and fought for their freedom.
Hello po! How much is the salary of a historian? I am currently studying BA history po and i was inspired of the salary of a historian based on what i searched on the Internet and it was a big amount indeed! Let me know if its true or not
only 32 years ahead of the United States of America s Declaration of Independence 1776 ,was the revolt of Francisco Dagohoy .1744 . not more than 300 years
Most FILIPINO WORDS are from Greek, Spanish, and Latin like Milagro, Sapatos, Gloria, baño, etc. MAJORITY OF FILIPINO NAMES ARE SPANISH LIKE JUAN DELA CRUZ, MARIA CLARA, DINO GARCIA
We all know that. Also some filipino words have sanskrit, malay and arabic influence more than spanish like sakit, dukha, budhi, muka, siko, mata, Raja, ako, kami, diwata, agimat, alak, suka, bathala, kambing, baboy, etc... and some Chinese like toyo, susi, bimpo, siomai. Spanish has only 5% influence witch is low. And filipino is an austronesian language and not some spanish dialect
Thank God you said Filipino and not Tagalog. Tagalog doesn't have that much loanwords that are from other family languages, it has cognates and loanwords that are only within Austronesian family.
