Kirby Pábalan-Táyag Aráullo is a renowned Filipino Historian, Culture Bearer, and currently the National Coordinator for Culture and Heritage the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns. He is a Dátû and Lakan by blood, a direct descendant of the last indigenous Paramount Kings of Luzon (of both Lakandúlâ of Tondo and Rája Matandá of Maynílâ), and of the anti-colonial revolutionary Katipuneros who fought for the liberation of the Philippines from colonialism. Kirby's upbringing exposed him to the contradicting worlds of traditional politics and grassroots activism.
With a keen interest in varying fields and a strong commitment to serve the community, Kirby studied in some of the world’s most prestigious universities, such as Harvard, UC Davis, and Université catholique de Louvain.
Dátû Kirby is an educator who is well-rooted in his culture and passionate about his heritage; he strives to decolonize Philippine history and democratize Ethnic Studies through knowledge and play.
Hi Sir Kirby, curious lang ako sa history ng mga Chinese sa Pilipinas kasi diba pre-colonial spanish era, andito na sila. So ibig sabihin ba nun na mas malaking possibility ang mix ng Chinoy? I want to know more about that, since parang hindi siya masyado napaguusapan.
Kuya Kirby you said that not all Aswang's are Evil so tell me which Aswang's are Evil and which are Good because I'm a writer and it would really help if you tell me on why the Aswang's the way they are since you said so yourself "Not all the Aswang's are actually evil and so a lot of them have backstories on how they turn into like this monster or this evil spirit that haunts people" which my implie a potential tragic Backstory for the Aswang like maybe they were once people like you and me but was cursed to be force to feast on the blood souls and fresh of the Humans or something like that? For me I cannot confirm it for myself so it really helpful if you give me the full backstory of the Aswang's
This is so convincing. Current Philippine "historians" are Manila or Tagalog-centric that repletes with myths, fantasies and half-truths. They are so romanticized by a united "Filipino nation", Philippine Revolution kuno, which actually was just a Katagalogan uprising, "First Republic in Asia". In fact the Visayans were never part of the Katagalogan charade. Visayans and Kapampangans helped quell the Katagalogan rebellion. It's lamentable that only the "Balangiga Massacre" is highlighted in Samar, the truth is the arrogant Malolos Republican led by the bandit Vicente Lukban pillaged Samar, abused Chinese traders, raped Waray women. The Yankees burned only one village but Katagalogan invaders razed down four big settlements including the capital Catbalogan. D. Divinagracia also mentioned about Malolos Republican troopers under Diokno who also created havoc in Panay. We, Visayans should start digging for the truth about our Homeland - The Kabisay-an. "Unless the lion learns to write, every story will glorify the hunter."
Great Presentation!!! What I can recommend though is try to make your explanations less vague and more simplified, for example you can simply point out that the Spaniards controlled the Visayans mainly through pacts and religion, not totally through persecution such as what mainly happen in Luzon, in other words through the Spaniards point of view, Luzon is their Slave, Visayas their Ally, and Mindanao is their enemy.
Hi Kirby, nice to hear from you again. Nice insert and insight on Bulacan and Pampanga. The taga-ilog (Tagalog) and pampang ng ilog (Pampanga) are old time neighbors and ethymology.
We used to have 52 stars on our flag. Now only 50 > The 2 stars more was for, the Philippines and Puerto >>. Now i feel betrayed by them, and our Government 😡😡 I never voice myself like this b4 . I just had to fine OUT WHAT HAPPEN! 😡😡🙄🙄 I'am going to dig and dig and dig into this. TO FINE THE PERSON THAT BOUGHT IT? FIND OUT WHAT REALLY HAPPEN? 😡😡 Some one is fixing to get FIRED 🔥🔥

Hi Kirby, thanks for your very informative video. Pwede ka rin bang makagawa ng educational video patungkol sa pre-sultanate, sultanate period, and spanish period specific on its influence on PALAWAN? Salamat and all the best!
all the studies I’ve been learning about the truth about Africa and the Americas. Africans Rome over here for 100s of years. before the destruction of the immigrants Europeans. I took a DNA test and what did you know my furthest back bloodline was Filipino Native American and Congolese then some Irish in European and then a bunch of African bloodline from all over. This came to bring me to study a little bit more. Figure out Filipinos and Africans roamed around the Americas for many years meeting making what we understand as the native American. Hundred years later when the Spanish came to the Americas started to meet with the African Filipinos ” native Americans” over time Spanish blood lightning the skin of the native Americans creating what we understand as Mexicans. So much has been lies.. But science made it all come together also old scriptures. When you look at Mexicans and even Filipinos you see African traits .now days you see the European features more due to the terrorism of Spains Force on the people due to colonization.
My Idea the sources of Ophir's treasures brought from South East Asia countries to Aser region in KSA. That Prophet Solomon kept huge treasures there inside the Mountain. This treasures guarded by the Dragon was assigned by God as requested by Solomon. In the near end of time a man entrusted by Allah the pious one who can open and retrieve this treasure. And Islam one day ruled the world. WW2 treasures looted by JIA and Hitler Army brought to the Philippines.
Should be only called Sulu Sultan not Filipino Sultan. The term Filipino only applies to the natives subjugated and Christianized by the Spanish empire during his time.
Two against five warships... :) Anyway, as for this person... US left Philippines when they think that the Philippines have paid the amount they paid in Spain...
Hi Kuya Kirby. do you have any idea where I can confirm if Tondo had an empire in Luzon? Also, id like to know more about pre colonial Philippine warfare. E.g. we know so much about the Japanese with their Samurais, naginata, what's their battlefield strategy, etc. id like to know something like that for the Philippines.
That was beautifully presented. I had never heard of this man until 30 minutes ago, besides an obscure, (in the US anyways) Filipino😵💫- Excuse me, PINOY, is it?- horror movie a few years back, but had no context. Thank you for pointing out what, embarrassingly enough, should have been the obvious. This was an awesome introduction to your videos & hopefully the 1st of many more to come. (edit: added on to original 1st sentence 😄, oh & language)
Cuba was not a colony 😡. As a spaniard I don’t believe Spanish said they don’t wanted to be defeated by brown people. It was Mexico (new Spain viceroyalty) who managed the Philippines and they were indigenous who were indigenous. All native Americans and Spaniards in the viceroyalties had the same status as Spanish citizens. This is false propaganda.
You may not agree with me, but I know what I'm talking about. I majored in history at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) and did my graduate studies in Government and History at Harvard University, I also did graduate studies in International Law at the Université catholique de Louvain (based in Belgium). I also taught a course on Precolonial Philippines at UC Davis while also being the co-founder and Director of Operations for the Bulosan Center for Filipino Studies. So yes, I did my research and I have more than a decade of formal training to study, teach, and write about history, political science/government, and international law 😊 how about you?
There is a thick lie there that Magellan got killed by an arrow to save face that their national weapon pride and considered greatest sword in the world the "rapier" got overpowered by a Kampilan sword. 1. Conquistador wears breast plate armor, arrows would not penetrate it. 2. they have guns. The only option for LapuLapu to win is to get close and fight sword to sword.
try delving more into the Visayan revolt against Spain. Here in Negros Occidental, we still commemorate Cinco de Noviembre when the Spaniards were ousted here in 1898.
