I once got locked up in Lancashire and they said West Yorkshire were useless and were ringing them asking them what to do with certain people they had in custody , there custody staff are arseholes they shout g4s over like power rangers to twist you up. Lol

Rocked up on an emergency transfer to a hospital in Essex, to the wrong parking area for where we needed. HALO (liaison officer) is all "What are you doing here? You should know that you need to be over there and not here,what are you doing?" as we're sat in a vehicle that looks different than the local offerings and has "SURREY" painted on the sides. One of the great things with English services as opposed to US ones is that services can cross borders and have national coverage. One of the downsides is that we get sent across borders and with national coverage...

Thought I'd share a quick story Ben...I met a lad in a chip shop on Friday, I was getting some food before going through to Leeds to meet a girl from Tinder. I'm in the shop and I get chatting to him, he was about your age, and I'm talking a bit colourful about the speed I'm going to be doing to get to this date on time. My car is sat outside (A BMW 3 Series, the exact same as the one Traffic Coppers use) and we get chatting about it, I'm there again being slightly colourful about its behaviour on motorways in the past and I go so what do you do? He goes "I'm a traffic copper!"...The world fell out my arse for a second :D I mentioned you and told him to give you a watch as I can't stop! Just goes to show coppers can be decent people too!!

One of those “You Can’t Script It” moments. Was in a car trying to Join a pursuit, and control switched the channel to the specific one for pursuit. Neither the driver nor I knew of the soft key option to change to that channel, and after 5 mins of scrolling through on the car radio I was, ahem, 🤢🤢. Driver gave up as we’d missed 5 mins of info. Sarge back at the nick told us the soft key, never forgotten that. Ftr, about 30secs after driver aborted trying to join, I asked em to stop, and heaved as I got out. I lost no food but close call. Purely cos my head was down for 5 mins of hard driving, Not seeing any of the outside lurching around, NOT cos of the driver.

There was a pursuit that came out of Northamptonshire at J15, went up to Birmingham, picking up all sorts of forces on the way up and then made it all the way to the City of London...picking all sorts of forces as they rattled down the M1 😂😂

Dont be too embarrassed, in Bradford as a supermarket manager we had a GMP off duty cop walk past a thug who was assaulting staff. She just gave us her number if we needed it in court, while supermarket staff had to pin and restrain the aggressive member of public until WYP arrived.

It's a very old police term in England. The nickname originally came from London's metropolitan police who were founded by Sir Robert Peel early 1800s, Bob is a hypocorism for Robert, So hence Bobby - get it? :)

Find these stories fascinating. My dad was a cop and one of his pals a traffic sergeant taught me to drive AFTER I’d passed my test. I never had the bottle to be a cop, but if I had I’d definitely have wanted to be traffic. Thanks for the stories Ben and keep them coming please.

Ben, *I have such respect for you brother* talking openly about your experience is surely the most awesome thing a recent serving Police Officer has done for a very long time. I am convinced I am not alone when I say I have been mistreated by the police at some point in my life, (a very long time ago) fair play I got an apology from a very senior officer when he visited my home. All that said, I have *HUGE* respect for the Police Force despite my experience. I can speak to the *Courage* , *Compassion* and *Care* that Police Officers have shown to folks that are close to me. The Interceptors are the poorer for your absence Ben, and that's a *Fact* *Given both your Police, and your personal experience Ben, there has to be a role in the Force for someone like yourself, too counsel, listen and let other Officers benefit from everything you have been through. For sure, there must be others whom are close to where you have been, and it's obvious you have a heart the size of a bus*

LOL. I can relate. In the ambulance service I worked for we had radios that required two hands to shift frequencies between regions. You sometimes had to steer with your elbow to set the channel for the paramedic in the back.
