A past choir director referenced the Tabernacle Choir as we were working on our unison - he referred to the Choir as “one fat voice” - scores of singers in such perfect unison that each word is distinct and understandable. This is SO important when doing sacred music, where the message is literally vitally important.
My Mom played this every Sunday after church, we had the LP. The lyrics and music is so powerful. It gives me strength along with my daily prayers for peace and hope for all.
You don't need to belong to any organized religion to appreciate Gospel songs. The Lord's Prayer belongs to all Christians. This video is so beautiful, I got goose bumps all over. I've always loved The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, & they sing this to perfection.
Ah, fond memories of listening to this, and other Mormon Tabernacle Choir hymns, while growing up on the London/Essex border in the 1970s and 80s. I found the music very uplifting, inspiring and motivating, for a struggling teen, who was trying to follow Christ but surrounded by so much temptation and challenges. I'm still active in the Mormon faith and very happy with a beautiful wife and three beautiful daughters. All the hard work and faithfulness in trying to follow my Saviour during those most difficult of times, is now paying dividends in my life now. Thanks for posting this. Greetings from England!
What an amazing performance, our beloved RELIGION, (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints)...I thank our beloved HEAVENLY PARENTS for restoring the Church for the SALVATION of the HUMAN RACE.
ANOTHER PIECE that would lend to great performances in the great hall, beethovens' mass in C,a relatively short work,( already out on CD by robert shaw chorale w atlanta symphony orchestra, it is pretty rarely performed
Too bad this most beautiful hymn isn't in the LDS hymnbook like it is in other faiths. I'm LDS but I think somebody really missed the aircraft carrier by not including THE LORD'S PRAYER when there are other hymns from other faiths in our book.
