I personally do not consider the ending of Arcueid’s route disappointing. The manga had already polished it to perfection. To quote the now missing line at TV tropes site: „The manga eats Arc's route and shits out awesome” (instead it now says “The manga trims down on some superfluous events from the original Arcueid route.”). But they should have added the epilogue of the manga, because it states them being together. Yes, not for long, since Shiki’s upgraded eyes might do him in rather sooner, than later, yes, Arcueid is still suffers from her bloodlust and Shiki must look for a special fruit to quench it, but they are still together and are happy that way. Perhaps we might see such epilogue when all the routes are done. As for switching Nrvnqsr to Vlav, I think was justified. In my opinion it was done to show how dangerous and destructive a dead apostle can be to the people and environment around him or her. Huge collateral damage with many victims? Yes sir. Zombie apocalypse with not just ordinary familiars, but also mutated ones? Can do. Nrvnqsr, on the other hand, was, how to say it, too fixated on himself. In essence, he was just a pack of very strong and dangerous, but animals and didn’t turn people in his familiars. So yeah, dangerous but not good example of a dead apostle’s destructive force. The new characters that didn’t add much to Arcueid’s route might receive more spot light in the following routes. For now, I must say I quite like what I am seeing. The new Arcueid’s character design is not worse than her original one, it is just different and she still remains a ray of sunshine that will color your world. Ciel actually looks even better than the original one. When it comes to Akiha, just like in Arcueid’s case, she simply looks different, so I need to see her route first in order to make an opinion. Hisui, my second favorite character after Akiha, now also looks even better. As for Kohaku and Sacchin, their old and new designs are somehow fell the same to me. Anyway, thank you for your hard work. Tsukihime novel is a special one to me. And even though I am past being a fan of Nasuverse and anime (I still like reading manga though), I will subscribe to your channel to show my appreciation.

Took away Arc's good ending but kept Shiki's "famous line", Nasu please... Getting to experience Arc's route again (for the most part) but with this stunning visuals is amazing One of the biggest gripes I had with the original was that Ciel's route felt too similar to Arc's with only little that was added, which I suspect help to the case that CIel is my least favorite heroine of the game. So, I'm really looking forward to the changes made in her route that maybe, just maybe, will make me a Ciel fan. Thanks again for the video Dai, I love how you not only summarize the route but also point out the differences to the original and throw some lore in there. I'm looking forward to your video on the next route!

A bittersweet ending for the first route of the remake. I had hoped Satsuki’s route would be together with Arcueid and Ciel’s routes because they seem more similar to one another than the far side routes. I especially see parallels between Arcueid and Satsuki struggling against the urge to feed. Thank you for the video. I look forward to seeing your first video on Ciel-Senpai.

I feel rather sad for Shiki and Aruceid; they have been through so much together, and now they are separate.

Manga has already done the arqueid route to perfection with information from other route added to it. Manga one shows his three stages of MEoDP where his Pure eyes gets upgraded to ME which only shows lines. It upgraded to show points of death in living during apartment confrontation against Nrvqsr(Orginal)/ Vlav 's familar. It gets upgraded after surviving point of death from Roa which makes him sees point of Death in everything living and non living. I think you forgot to mention about Shiki able to sees PoD in Non living after his battle with SHIKI(Roa) For Me I like arc Route Manga> Remake> Original VN

Thanks for the videos. I read Tsukihime back in 2009, so to see the remake's story some 10 years later is very interesting. There's a certain element to the VN's atmosphere I've always loved and have been looking for more of in other works ever since.

Honestly, I'm so impressed with how the remake looks. I really look forward to playing myself one day. Also I'm totally hyped to see more of Ciel, and what was changed from the original. Great videos Dai! 👍

While I'm... disappointed to say the least to learn that they did arcueid and Shiki like this and took out the good ending (and I was also hoping for a scene like the epilogue in the manga) and this feels just as you said barebones, I hope that at least they'd give Ciel a good ending 😭🙏

some characters in the arcueid route are like sakura in the artoria route, just a side character, since in UBW and of course HF is were she really shiny, maybe the others too in ciel's route

Thus, Arcueid went to back to sleep... Only to find the Hakunos dragged her back for their remake in the Moon Cell and repartnered her with Gatou’s crazy ass. Least she’s getting a brand spanking new official 3D model, right?

Not going to lie, was kind of disappointed with remake considering how Arcueid’s route is as you said barebones. Especially considering that Tsukihime has been stated to be a story about Arcueid. But, that being said in an interview regarding the game’s release, Nasu has hinted that beyond the remake of the near side that Arcueid’s story isn’t done yet and specifically mentions how many player doubtless found it odd that Arcueid only had 1 ending. What this entails is uncertain but it pleasing to know that Arcueid is getting more than what the Remake gave her. Personally, I’m hoping for a possible extended route for Arcueid that is unlocked like Last Episode, that ties in elements from both near and far sides for a true finale to the remake.

I'm really glad you've done the work for the fan base and storied out the remake for us. I've been wanting to get into Melty Blood for my next venture into the Nasuverse, but without understanding the visual novel it precludes, it would be almost pointless. Once I finish, I'll go back and give Mirror Moon's translation of the OG Tsukihime a go, but until then i have this. Truly, Thank you

Him cutting his way into castle was as beautiful as Shirou and Artoria reunion in Avalon. Could not Shiki theoretically kill Arcueid bloodlust? If not permanently than at least reduce it to starting point?

You know, for all what Nasu did for the remake and giving Arcueid only one ending, this was a pretty cool remake. My problems with is are that it could’ve had those two endings for Arcueid. Another is the inclusion of the new characters. I don’t have a problem with them, they’re pretty good. It’s just that I’m wondering if Nasu is trying be like Ryukishi07 with adding new characters just like in Higurashi and Umineko. Lastly would be the censorship, i.e. removal of the eroge. It’s just like with the YU-NO remake, only a little bit. If they wanted the Tsukihime remake be faithful to the original, they could’ve made the love scenes a bit erotic and show a little bit of nudity but by making it tongue and cheek without going to far, just like the Sega Saturn version of YU-NO.

I'm pretty sure the side characters not getting any development and the plot remaining only focused around Arc and Shiki like this is intentional, and actually not a mistake if you take a look at why the Arcuied route was popular in the first place, and what it wants to do. Warning: wall of text incoming. This is what Nasu had to say about it in the recent 4gamer interview: "The Alcade route is a route that everyone loves, and changing it too much might change the theme itself. That's why, from the beginning, we thought that if we were going to make any changes, it would be best to reinforce the part of Nero that I mentioned earlier, as well as the details of the scenario, especially the parts that were immature at the time." He knows what he's doing, it's not a mistake to let the new players experience the route as it originally was (mostly), and based on the reaction of the Japanese fanbase it looks like new players are loving it as much as people did the original Arc route back in the day, and the tight focus of the narrative ONLY on Arc's and Shiki's characters are actually a very important part of why the story and the theme of the route works. I can understand why Nasu didn't want to take the risk of Arc's true end not hitting home for new players the same way it did for the fans of the original. The route being "barebones" actually comes with the advantage of building the plot only around Arc's and Shiki's characters, the contradiction between their feelings and instincts, and the character development this conflict leads them to. This is supposed to be the focus of the route anyway and it works. Both of them are the unreachable ideal archetype for the other, on the one hand, they both bring something to the other's life they never had but really want. Shiki with his nihilism caused by being close to death at all times, and Arc living like a machine, not having a proper sense of self make each other feel for the first time in memory that life is just fun and both begin to cling to that normal happiness. On the other hand though, their very nature makes them a constant mortal danger to the other, and they already made a mistake they consider fatal due to this nature (Arc drinking Roa's blood, Shiki killing Arc). Because of this they have to let go of each other and this ideal life they experienced, if they don't want to cause even more harm to the other. In the second part of the route, every single scene is focused on how the characters come to realize this and choose to deal with it, every element in the plot is focused on hammering this theme of the value of normal life home. This is a theme that's central and irreplacable to Shiki's character and Tsukihime as a whole, so it's no surprise Nasu wanted new players to experience it as it is. I know a lot of people have EXTREME trouble with this, but we old fans just need to accept that this remake is not only for us but also for getting new people onboard.

Surprised how they do this story with arc and honestly glad the manga did a better ending of finding arc again in the castle was nicer. Yeah Nasu probably just added side Characters to flesh out the cast story but not much substance as even his original stuff did main characters pooly like fsn where gilgamesh Medea and medusa and cu all only got fully fleshed out in later content but that's nasu in a nutshell having plot points go nowhere and I thought Nero would be a major player in this story. Hopefully he does get big story later. Akiha yeah I really want to see her route already quickly forget ciel ever existed" so a reference to original tsukuhime's ciel being unpopular she gained 4th wall breaking powers in the sequel. I don't like ciel much but I'll be glad to see how they change it.

By the way Nasu explained why he changed from Nero Chaos to Vlov. A) It has been 20 years since original came out and there has been a lot of unique vampires that original Gothic style vampire are pretty low so nasu decided to return to classic vampires. B)Nero Chaos is way too strong to be just a midboss, while Vlov had been stated to not be that strong.

I think they are trying to completely mimic Fate/Stay Night's style. So The main heroine gets a bittersweet ending in the main VN. If this goes on till a Kagetsu Tohya Remake, then we might have an Arcueid Epilogue along with Akiha's Epilogue.

Finally finished Arcueid's route, but something that's still bugging me is the removal of Nrvnqsr chaos, and you mentioned that the OG list of dead apostle ancestors was changed, does that mean that Nrvnqsr is no longer one of them ? Or was the only Change their rankings ? Otherwise I like Vlov's involvement as he was a genuine threat and the fact I've seen, for the 1st time personally, a marble Phantasm.

Chad shiki has awakened but Ryougi's long ranged line of death made more sense than this one (also idk why nasu kept that rape dialogue in there😭)

I liked it but this makes me worried at the same time for the far side girls as they are 4 instead of 2 so they will obviously get less screentime or inverse better content but I don't think that will be the case as arc is his golden girl and this is all we get. The remake just feels like an update with a few add ons here and there for me. Aside ciel being so bad originally and satchin being new. Everything else will probably be just the same

Even though Arcueid is my favorite girl from the series, I do feel that her remake route is a bit weak. The artwork is absolutely fantastic but I feel Noel took away time that could have been better suited focusing on Ciel. I guess that'll be saved for her route l The addition of Vlov (AKA Blob) did NOTHING for me. He's pretty bland in the Melty Blood game and isn't any better in the visual novel unfortunately. Nero Chaos is deeply missed and I feel he had a more intimidating aura surrounding his character. As far as the ending goes I've kinda always liked it ending on a bittersweet note. Tsukihime is certainly a deeply emotional story and seeing Arcueid say her final goodbye always brings me to tear in a good way. I feel like it kinda fits the tone of this dark story.

Mmm. I know he's the protagonist, but he should have gotten his ass knocked out the moment "mess you up" left his lips. And Ciel should have done worst to him in the previous version of the game.

I think Fate benefits from being comparatively plot-focused. The Tsukihime narrative seems somewhat unfocused to me.

I don't get why they made so many changes that don't really change anything. They don't add anything new and don't correct any flaws. They feel like changes for the sake of changes without any real meaning to them for the most part and occasionally making things worse. :/ I think overall this re-make (of this route) is inferior to the original. I wonder if anyone will splice the new art and the old text and story-structure together as a mod.

Arc's route is a complete and utter disappointment (outside of Vlov and the OST). I say this simply because the manga exists, which elevated Arc's route beyond what the other media (anime and VN) did with it. If one would compare it just to the OG VN route, then yes it's an improvement. But unfortunately for Nasu, the manga exists, so Remake Arc route is a joke and feels Nasu put in a weekends worth of effort in this route as its 1:1 copy paste and replaced Nrvnqsr with Vlov and a lot of Ciel's scenes with Noel.

Really like the lore and the story telling of Tsukihime but oh boy. The characters? The romance? Both of those aspects are quite silly and dowright annoying. Fate Stay Night has the same issue and in a lesser respect Apocrypha as well.
