Good day fellow adventurers! Thank you all for the overwhelming response to my first Lore Overview video of Elwynn Forest. It's a special feeling to see the positive reactions pouring in! There seems to be some confusion in the comments about the use of AI and the production of this video, so let me elaborate. The entire video, from script to in-game footage is first written and recorded by me. I need to know which parts to show to you after all! When I'm satisfied with the progression of the script, I indeed ask ChatGPT to rewrite different sections in a certain style or tone, that conveys wisdom (hence the narrator being the Loremaster). This creates a sense of immersion and relaxation, and this is my original goal for this type of video. Also, I'm currently not comfortable with narrating in my own voice. The reasons are my own, and after trying many many AI generated voices, I finally found the one used in the production. This is my workflow, and thinking this could be done entirely with AI is a gross misconception. ChatGPT is not nearly good enough to write the entire script by itself. All in all I'm really happy with the way this video turned out, having worked on it for 20 hours. So please keep that in mind, when you think it's just another AI. The video is made with a lot of effort and existing knowledge of the game I have loved for so many years! And the tools that we have at our fingertips now, are for me an extension of my creativity, and implicitly not a replacement! Again, thank you all for the lovely feedback! I have read all your comment! See you next time!
This is neat, the only recommendation I'd make is your Stories and Lore section, you are referencing THE adventurer a bit, see if you can remove "The" adventure from the narrative, it started with adventurers(plural) being sent to collect candles to suddenly we're following one adventurer. See if you can find a way to make it like tales from the area almost removing the player adventurer as an entitiy? Maybe something like: "Receiving reports from adventurers of increased kobold activity in the mines Marshal Dughan..." Rather than "After receiving a report form the adventurer.... "? Don't know try and get the storytelling of the zone away from an individual adventurer? Really like it anyway, even with that its a style choice I just think (uneducated slob I am) that the player side of the lore might need masking a bit in order for it to not get messy. edit: "Whoops" also thanks little sub form me :)
AI should make our life's easier, not to be scared from it... Imagine soon we will upload books and AI will make it into a movie... Moreover take you inside... The best part - we are not even that far from it .. On another note... Expect big players to contact you... Very big... You do what I wanted nobbel to do for years... Thank you
Great job. AI is totally fine. I would only advise you polish these a little bit more. For example sometimes you are using "adventurer" other times it's "player". Also watch out for introducing the same place/character twice.
It's interesting to hear about the work that goes on behind the scenes! I'm backing the other comment suggesting that we hear about adventurers in plural, rather than one distinct adventurer. Personally I'd also consider removing the use of "player" all together. Hope you get to Ahn'Qiraj one day; I think that zone's history along with what the "adventurers" accomplished back in the day is perfect for this! :D Excited for the next part of this series, keep on rocking!
@@MrNotshowingmyname No, this is a chatgpt *assisted* script and voiceover. There's a difference that isn't just pedantry. This very clearly isn't just a 0 effort video meant to capitalize on AI. This is exactly how AI should be used-- to touch up on someone's pre-written script, and to speak for people who don't feel that they'd do a good job with voicing out their scripts properly. The bad videos are the mass produced ones that are obviously just someone trying to make a quick buck with 0 effort, not someone using AI while also putting the effort in.
Mate, I just found your video randomly. I loved it. Always wantes someone to go zone by zone exploring the lore, quests and so on. What an amazing job you have done here. I hope you find the time to continue this series. I will be along for the ride!
Please, PLEASE do exactly such a type of video for every zone, or for Azeroth at the least. This is absolutely unique and GREAT content - more akin to a "national geographic" kind of video than merely a lore documentation. Also your voice is a perfect fit for this! Edit: One suggestion for improvement though I might add - try to avoid double-dipping on things you already talked about. I understand that the video structure leads to doing so, but mentioning the mines and it's cobolds, pointing out the different farmsteads, and hearing about Hogger (e.g. 13:10 & 20:47) on multiple occasions gets a wee bit annoying after a while. So imho it would do good to overthink the structure on coming content of this series - keep the documentation style but focus on the different locations and content of the sub-zones on a checklist basis. Without mentioning the same things jumping to and fro different segments of the video.
This is great feedback, thanks! I'm completely overwhelmed by all the positive reactions, that it's hard to filter the constructive criticism. I will definitely keep that in mind! Thanks for watching!
Between the writing and the visuals, this is such an excellent way to really immerse yourself in the collected Chronicles of Azeroth :D Definitely looking forward to more in the future!
The amount of subs and views on this video are so low, it’s criminal. All we need to do is get this in the hands of Asmongold. This production level and info is amazing
I don't know if blatant and lazy use of AI deserves to be rewarded to that extent. Makes me sad for all the actually competent, hard-working people that set the standard for this type of video.
This was so relaxing and I enjoyed every minute of it. This is how I play WoW. I couldn't care less about mythic or raid world first or DPS meters the story the world the lore the tiny side quests that make each zone unique - that is why I play. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It was like David Attenborough/Wise Old Man re-telling me everything I love about Elwynn Forest.
I picked up wow after vanilla to play classic and hung up the boots at tbc classic. I can’t describe the feeling I get when listening to content like this. Actually sucks me back in and takes me to such a fun and happy time of my life. Don’t think I’ll ever pick it up again with getting older but I’ll never stop watching these type of videos on it. Truly amazing
Found this randomly and I’m glad I did! Started playing WoW back in ‘04, started and stopped multiple times, I miss it 😢….now I’m gonna start playing again 🎉😂 Love the vids
Why am I still interested in a nearly 20 year old game? I even stopped playing it years ago but yet here I am wanting to know lore about Elwynn forest... great video
I will never forget loading up the demo disc and transporting into an experience I didnt know existed. Reading the quests I recall opening the map and plotting my way south to try and find the Fargo Deep mine. And wow, I did not realize there was a quest to find Maybell in her cottage. Even in my first playthroughs I must have found her while doing other quests and after that I knew to stop in to pick that up. But for me this is the zone I think of when I think of WoW. The dangerous mines, Hogger, annoying murlocs, amazing music and beautiful setting will remain one of my favorite experience in gaming.
Thanks for the sub! I had a lot of fun making this video and you can expect more of this soon! Is there anything you would like to see differently? Or did I miss something? Let me know!
@@TheChroniclesofAzerothAnything like this would be great mate, I love listening to stuff like this while playing wow or relaxing before going to sleep. Brilliant :)
Absolutely wonderful. The best suggestion youtube has ever given me. The way you go into detail and deconstruct the zone is pleasing. I cant wait to see more of your content.
I just stumbled upon this video at random, and I can tell, if this is the quality of videos we can except in the future, this channel is gonna grow larger then Sargearas :D
Amongst plenty of lore channel competition, this format and your presentation style really stand out. Brilliant job and I truly hope to see more zones explored by you. Note to fans of the future: there was a time when Chronicles of Azeroth had only 1K subscribers. Time flies
Honestly, I love what you're doing with all the things on your channel. But this is the coolest thing without a dab in my personal opinion. I'm a big lore nerd and this hits the spot. There's so much life in classic world of warcrafts world, things like this just bring that to the forefront where many people would just miss it. Keep up the great work. I look forward to the next in this series.
As someone who just came back to WoW after not playing since the very early days of Shadowlands, I am happy to be back, the game is the best it has been in a very long time. You got yourself a new subscriber.
"So come Wander the forrest paths explore the quaint towns and uncover the secrets of this timeless land together" Bloody hell dude, you just sendt me back to feb.2004. Completing the first quests in Northshire and feeling like a ant in a massiv world filled with mistery and secrets, just waiting to be experienced, uncoverd and conquered.
This was amazing. This is absolutely the direction to take the channel. I loved the narration. I would watch every single video if they were all like this about each zone. Job well done.
I hope this video gains traction and more attention, your speaking voice is wonderful! And Elwynn Forest will always be my favorite zone, so much nostalgia.
@@TheChroniclesofAzeroth You could do all the starting zones currently in WoW, in no particular order. Also one tiny thing, the music was a touch loud in the last half of the video.
if you continue doing stuff like this, i will 100% continue watching. this is hands down the best compilation of lore for elwynn forest and i really hope you make more for the other zones.
Thank you for noticing! All in all I wasn't very happy with my own voice. I decided to use AI-generated speech for narration to streamline the production process.
Oh boy, i still remember the first time ever clicking the "start" button back in 2007, the first time entering this place was like a magical thing for me, the music was absolutely some of and still is the best track and something I remember fondly, leveling through this exact place so many times just because why not, i love this one specific start zone, tho I do play horde nowadays elwynn forest will always be my number 1 spot in my heart.
Thanks for the feedback! I experimented with a lot of different voices, including my own and I really wasn't happy with the way those turned out. Aside from being a time consuming task on top of everything else, I don't own a microphone and the ai generated speech helped me out a lot, striking a good balance between authenticity and efficiency. Hopefully you can understand my reasoning and perhaps in the future my workflow will change in that direction! Either way, it's good to hear what you would like to see differently in the future and I will take that advise with me!
Honestly, this content is fantastic. A dream for any lover of the Warcraft lore. I commute many hours of the week and this was the perfect listen. I also think this is the perfect listen for anybody suffering with visual impairment! A lovely touch, intentional or not! I cannot wait for more, please! ❤
As soon as the video finished the next zone I thought I would like to see in the future is Searing Gorge with its menacing music. Keep up the great work, can't wait for more!
As a player since 2006, ex wow podcaster, and loremaster myself. Keep doing these. One for each zone. Some may be shirt, but these are great. Keep up the awesome work.
This showed up in my feed today, and I couldn't be happier for it! This is going to be such a great help for my ttrpg campaign, and it's a delight to sit back and listen to as well!
This is awesome!! Clear and calm voice, nice details and comments and our favourite lore...100% waiting for more Chronicles of Azeroth videos for more areas!!
I love when people do lore videos of the older zones. Sadly there is only a handful I've been able to find over the years. This one was great! Great spread of everything. Cant wait to see more! The only thing I can suggest is maybe occasionally some like map images or something. Like maybe some of the specific quest areas have a map shown with a circle on the area. Or like one of those effects where it zooms out and transitions onto the spot on the map. Then pans and zooms on to the next region in discussion and as it gets close on the map it transitions to the in game views you show here.
I’ve played vanilla, private, classic, played around with my own server and then some mod servers. Tried firing up turtle wow but i just can’t seem to get into it anymore. Chewed out the entire pack o gum. Guess it’s rly over… but i can enjoy these lore vids :) thanks man!
This video was fantastic. It will not only want to make old players return but also bring in new players just to lvl in the starting zone :D. This is how I imagined the lore in my head back in 2008, and to see this level of quality come out in 2023 now blows my mind.
