It's easy to click on a file and save it, but if you don't have reliable backups, one thing goes wrong with your machine and everything could be lost. Sure, preserving physical objects is also hard because you have to limit all external factors like temperature, humidity or even sunlight if you don't want something specific to destroy with age. But unless there's a flood or a fire in the building it's kept in, a physical object won't just disappear, but a computer file could in many circumstances be erased completely in a matter of microseconds.
