Join Titanic discoverer Dr. Robert Ballard and his team on their latest undersea adventure! Far beneath the ocean's surface lies a world of mystery and lost treasure. But the laws of the sea can't end the debate over who may stake claim to these centuries-old Roman ships, Spanish galleons, and luxury liners.
Join Dr. Robert Ballard and his team of experts as they embark on a remarkable maritime expedition to the Mediterranean Sea where, a half mile underwater, they discover and study ancient shipwrecks. And witness two generations of treasure hunters who make their living finding and selling silver, gold, and other riches from the ocean floor.
You'll meet these fearless individuals - from explorers and archaeologists who profit from their finds - as they risk everything to uncover the great TREASURES OF THE DEEP.

The government leaves it up to private investors to spend the time, effort ,danger and expense, just to jump in and claim as much as they can. It's not really government wanting to protect history, as much as they just want to be greedy, without the risks. My humble opinion.

Im glad that Mel Fisher was mentioned. I am quite familiar with the story as one of his children is a dear friend of mine. His story is truly amazing on many levels and worth looking into. Ballard himself gives the perfect argument why there is no reason whatsoever not to salvage the Titanic: no open historical questions, just a pile of artefacts rotting down there. what is lost must be found, and the artefacts be repurposed for what they have been created for: to enjoy them.

Bob Ballard is worth millions. He gained fame and profited off his discoveries just like any other Salvor would have. The difference is, Salvors usually don't put on an Holier than though act in front of the cameras. They are upfront and honest about wanting the treasure to enrich themselves. Instead of gold and gems, Bob Ballard gets checks for Biography, TV Episodes, Documentaries and Movies.

i"m very much in favor of recovering artifacts and riches from the oceans of the world. Whether it"s done by a treasure hunter for personal gain or by an archeologist; it"s of no difference to me other than to say that the hunter will put it all back into circulation while the archeologist will document and then store out of view the bulk of the items never to be seen but by a few...excepting those pieces he salts away for himself, that is.

I find it interesting that the word "greed" was used so often in this video and the comments below. Does greed drive General Motors to make a profit on each vehicle they produce or is it survival? Does greed drive the factory worker that shows up for work every day so he can feed his family? It's easy to judge someone as being greedy when you ignore the fact that they have invested lots of money and time into the equipment needed to make a profit.

I think treasures should be a finders keepers deal but if the finders don't take care to document the site they should be liable to cover cost for someone else to for it to be legit they should try and learn as much as we can from it for example the origin cargo place of origin etc govt should have to follow the SE rules as preserving history is more important than money even if it goes to govt tho I'd agree with a taxing treasure I wouldn't like it if I hit motherload but it's fair for all parties

It is possible to dowse for gold on water from a boat. Read the book, The Art of dowsing - Separating Science from Superstition, for explanation of all the physics used in dowsing and how to build the modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod, which accurately deciphers and gauges what is being dowsed, by pitting the energy of gravity against the energizing of the one-tenth ounce dowsing rod load that is attached at a predetermined location on the ELEVATED acetylene welding rod of the dowsing rod, for precise dowsing of all edges, exact center, depth buried with angle of deposition, and most important GRADING of the sought element contained in the elemental mass being dowsed. Become a professional dowser by practicing the book's dowsing lessons of buried pipelines and cables, tunnels and voids, precious metal placer and lode deposits, dowsing for treasure, dowsing for any element, amplified dowsing from a moving vehicle, and dowsing on water from a boat. Thank you for reading this post and have a safe, healthy, good day.

This video appears to be a hit piece against the treasure salvers, a vailed dig against them. I’m pretty sure Mel Fisher had an archaeologist on his expedition and the fate of the Atocha fleet was well documented back in Spain. And it was not an ancient shipwreck. And these governments and archaeologists were sitting on their tails and not giving a damn about the wreck while Mr Fisher spent 16 years of his life searching and losing a son in the search! But when big money is discovered, they all come out of the woodwork!
