I had my first lucid dream today!!! It happened in a morning nap! It's day 12 of my journey. I had a false awakening where I was in my room, organizing my desk. But I suddenly realized I don't have a desk in my room and it immediately made me lucid. I quickly grabbed the walls to stabilize and it worked! It was so vivid and real I couldn't believe it. I tried to summon Daniel as my dream guide but nothing happened. I ran out into the hallway and that's when everything quickly faded away. I tried grabbing the walls again but it was already gone. I immediately got up and wrote it in my dream journal. Couldn't have done it without you! P.S. congrats on 50k!
This is brilliant, well done! 12 days in is really quick progress so you should feel very proud of yourself. I love the way you've explained it too, it's such a typical example of the subtle strangeness of the dreamscape. Well done for remembering to stabilise, that is also very impressive. Keep it up!
@@charliegreaves4092 idk if you're still trying but I was doing morning naps (wake up at normal time, stay awake for an hour or so, take a nap). It worked the very first time I tried it. Unfortunately I've stopped trying since then, but don't let that discourage you - I was seeing VERY clear progress in a manner of a few months. I stopped around day 80. Had no success with WILDs. I might get back into it at some point. I'll never forget that first lucid dream though, completely unreal...
I can't believe it but yesterday I got to the last page of my first dream journal. Thank you for getting me this far. without your channel I would have never been able to lucid dream in the first place.
Wow Ducky, that's brilliant news - a real milestone! Firstly, thank you so much for your really kind support (it means a lot, it really does). Secondly, CHECK YOU OUUUUUT! Seriously, you've done better than 90% of people who discover this subject by getting as far as you have, it shows a real strength of character, determination, and you absolutely deserve every lucid dream you have. I'm glad to do my small part in helping to inspire you to explore this wonder of the mind. Keep it up!
I think the hardest part is convincing my subconcious that anything is possible in dreams. If i conciously know that i am free to do anything but my subconious thinks otherwise i usually find it very challenging to control the dream.
Then realize your subconscious is actually you, and you're just making it harder for yourself by giving your subconscious the unexpected element of being your nemesis and stopping you. 😂😅😊

Well, that swirling portal in the beginning cued a lucidity check! We absolutely l o v e the idea of dream portals. The number 1 thing we go to when asking what we'd do when in a dream whilst in our living room, is imagine a swirling violet-blue portal right in the middle, and walking through it. No clue where it leads to, but want to find out!! Dream control is a super fascinating subject that should get more attention (without all the twaddle)!
Portals were something that I tried a lot in the beginning of my journey. They were somewhat successful as they often did "form" but led to places I didn't want to fully go to. Lately, I haven't even tried using portals as I haven't wanted to go anywhere in particular, but the last few times I've tried to summon a portal, it's failed or I had to rely a lot on the dream setting (mirrors). I think that this has happened partly because of how logical (and hardheaded) I am. In the beginning, lucids were still a bit questionable in the logic department, allowing me to follow more dream logic. Now, with more functioning logic being available, it's about trying to fully convince myself that anything is possible due to how realistic everything can seem. It's a learning curve that I'll have to overcome but I'll definitely try and make a portal next time I need to change the dream setting! Great video as always! Hearing "Lucid Dream Portal" always makes me chuckle because I always think of this channel before an actual portal!
Really glad it has helped! And yes, I've been using it also, and it's a great tool to help boost our practice. I've had 3 for 3 lucid dreams using the recording also.
Hi Daniel, I cant thank you enough for creating this channel, I started my journey into lucid dreaming on a rocky path when I was young and now I'm older I can really appreciate the work you've put in to build a community as positive as this. I've been using doors to get around in my dreams recently, I'll give portals a go next time.
Thanks followthewhiterabbit, I really appreciate your lovely comment. RU-vid is definitely a rocky path, but it's just lovely to be able to share this subject with those who really care about it! Thanks again!
Weird. I use lucid dreaming for shifting attempts mainly, and whenever I was trying to use doorways and portals, it would always lead to a different area. I never knew this was the actual purpose- I'll have to keep this in mind
It's still a bit hard for me to get around in a lucid dream. I use doors and mirrors as portals, which works really well, but when I'm in an environment without either of those I often find myself walking around in the dreamscape and eventually losing lucidity. Great video as always btw. :^)
If you've ever watched a NDE video, they say all they have to do is think about a place and you are there. I'm very new at this and it reminds me of Near Death Experience's except different.
Today i dreamed within a dream , i dreamed that my soul is lifting upward then i entered a room , there was a background sound saying U WILL GET AS YOU WISH then i realised that i am in alucid dream instantly i did a reality check i counted my fingers and there was six fingers then i try to watch my surroundings and while watching left and right my eyes open and i wake up 😢 , today i will try again very excited
That has literally been my exact problem in many lucid dreams. I've succeeded in creating a portal before, but it's something I need to practice more. Haven't had a chance yet to let "Sally" create one for me.
Hello Daniel, I just wanted to say that I've been following you for several years now and have found your content interesting and loved it ever since! I purchased your book "Are you dreaming?" and it arrived today! I haven't had a lucid dream yet, as my willingness to stick to the LD journey has always been on and off, but my dreams have gotten more and more clear. I hope I'll achieve my goals one day with your guidance. Best wishes to you!
Hi Sey, thank you for such a nice message, I really appreciate it! Your dedication will definitely pay off, that kind of mindset is what distinguishes lucid dreamers from the rest of the population. I hope (and expect) that Are You Dreaming? Will give you all the tools to break through. I really hope you enjoy it. Thanks again and stay lucid!
@LucidDreamPortal Hello again Daniel! Thank you for your encouraging words! I came to say that I've had some progress I suppose? I woke up at 4 AM (Didn't want to, my body just did, bodily needs etc.) and fell back asleep half an hour later. Funnily enough, you were in my dream and you were my neighbour in the same apartment complex. We had a lot of different conversations about LD and I also asked about your set up. Apparently your background was basically a roll up background, that you just pulled up and hooked in place which was quite funny as you showed me. Sadly I only tried to do a reality check once I was slowly waking up/had already woken up when I was drifting from the dream, back to reality, so my realisation to do so came a bit to late, as I was so immersed in our conversations 😅 I forgot to say so, but congratulations on reaching 50k subscribers, the Sunday night streams as always were a blast to watch! I'll continue to support you and can't wait for your new content!
"Wherever you are right now, there is a physical distance between you an the Eiffel Tower, that is inarguable" Person watching this on the Eiffel Tower:
Thanks, Daniel, great video! Mostly I use the mirror or yell out where I want to go, but that usually takes a bit more time. Can't wait to use your tips! 🙏
very interesting. I just have yet to have a full lucid dream. I do a lot of NOWS. and micro test. I'm also 11 months along. seems like I'm lagging behind in my quality of dreams. November 2, 1 on 1. I hope you can help me nice video🎉
Jim you're brilliant, thank you so much. And very much looking forward to meeting you! And no, you're definitely not lagging, you're very much in the normal learning curve, it's just that the vast majority of people don't hold the high standards of lucid dreaming we do here on the channel and consider any semi level of lucidity as a lucid dream. Definitely don't worry, it takes a long time for high logic lucid dreaming,.
For the last 5 Lucid dreams I've been trying to pass through walls and create a portal (open a door that leads somewhere else) but fail. I know all the theory behind dream control and what you explain in this video (I had over 100 Lucid dreams), and I did crazy/unrealistic things in the past. But lately my mind is very "realism" focused and refuses to do super-natural things in the LD, (besides flying). I need to trick to change this approach..
Normally this occurs due to negative expectations from a fluke dream, this weakens confidence and becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Try starting small with simple dream control attempts and building up to regain confidence in the process. Also, disruption expectations by attempting things outside of the visual field, such as walking through a wall backwards. Hope that helps.
Ive been struggling with doing NOWS, mostly because i have terrible verbal fluency. I generally do like 20 second nows, covering my environment tempature, my body portions, how the people around me act, or if my environemnt is stable
Coming from experience, I wouldn't anyone to use a mirror for the lucid dream portal. It could show a distorted version of yourself, and it could wake you up
@@LucidDreamPortalI wonder how that myth became so popular, since every source has mentioned this. I suppose since it changes expectations about what will happen once it starts it'll consume everything but a weird myth.
Most of these myths are from the early forums, back in the emo days. They are all missing from text about lucid dreaming prior to the internet. But yes, it's mostly just ideas that influence expectations, and spread without critical thinking. Very silly really.
When I’m in a lucid dream, can I make it surprise me? I wanna be in a tv show called stranger things, I don’t wanna chose what the characters say to me though. Will they surprise me if I want them to?
Hi Daniel, after a quite long hiatus from YT and LD (due to unfavourable life circumstances) I just reactivated my membership as I am about to get serious about LD again. Just this morning right after a fake awakening induced by SSILD, I run into an old problem of mine I have never overcome thus far: Whilst attempting to lucid dream I often find myself in the situation, that I already see a fully-fledged dream scenery, but I simply feel no dream body. Consequently(?) I cannot really begin my journey in dreamland and the scenery starts to dissolve quite quickly. Are there any videos and or articles of yours about this problem, i.e. how to “activate” the dream body in such situations? If not, could you perhaps please consider to drop a few short sentences/bullet points regarding this issue?
Hey wildscavenger, good to see you're back in the lucid dreaming zone! - Firstly, thank you for your kind super thanks, it's really very much appreciated. What you're describing sounds like you're experiencing either very vivid hypnagogia or pre-dream imagery. There is rarely a sense of physical self in these experiences, and they do tend to dissolve rather quickly. I've not made any videos on this subject in particular, but I think it's probably wise that I do, as it's a common issue. The best advice I can give is firstly: DON'T PANIC! - This is perfectly normal, and to be expected. You're also not quite as close to the dream as you might expect, as these tend to be transitional phases, before dreaming-proper begins. In general, the physical sense is one of the first to engage in most dreams, with visual often being the last. But this can be confused when people experience these kinds of "dreamlettes". It's not 100% that predictable, but more often than not. The key with any of these kinds of experiences is apathy. As odd as it sounds, you need to fight caring at all, and fight the urge to try to do anything. The more you try to control sleep/dreaming before it fully starts, the more likely it is to interrupt the natural process. Think of maintained awareness / WILDs in the same way a cat would see a mouse. You stay absolutely still until it's the right moment to pounce. Any movement before this would frighten the dream/mouse away. We have no control over when a dream will start or form, but we can do a lot to stop the process. So apathy is the trick, don't care about the outcome, wait patiently until your brain and body have done their job. I'd also recommend trying a technique that is more dreambody focused, such as the Impossible Movement Practice, it tends to be far more reliable for transitioning into the dream space. I hope that helps a little.
@@LucidDreamPortal Thank you very much for this detailed answer! 🙂A lot to digest already, but I still would love to hear you expand on this in a video someday, should you decide to do so. And congrats on the 50k subscribers! I am afraid I cannot make it to todays live stream as I am about to head out of the house now. Have fun!🥳
Hi. Please respond because I need an answer really quickly. When I lucid dream (I’m a beginner), I obviously have to be aware that I’m in a dream. But, I also want it to feel real enough for me to question if I’m dreaming. Do you know what I mean? Do lucid dreams feel real? Edit: Also, can I teleport to like.. a tv show? Like with the characters and the locations? I wanna dream about the upside down from stranger things and do it with the people
I’ve been remembering my dreams really well and writing them down, now suddenly I’ve stop remembering them for some reason. Why is that?. I’m also unaware of my surroundings everyday could that be a problem for lucid dreams?.
Dream recall will fluctuate occasionally due to lifestyle and health, don't worry it will return. As for not being aware of your surroundings, that could be a bit of a problem, but it can be worked on.
