Even 3 years in, I still do one of these mistakes - not dream journaling! When I started lucid dreaming training, I already had very good dream recall and just assumed that dream journaling was only meant to help with recall, so I didn’t have one. That was fine for a year and a half/two years roughly as I started having more consistent lucids, but then the consistency dropped. In hindsight, my success was probably due to excitement on the topic, but I hadn't done any favors for myself by not keeping a dream jounal. Sure, a dream jounal keeps with recall, but it also helps alleviate your brain by writing down everything so you don't have to hold dreams in your daily memory. Dream jounals also help with dream signs, which can go overlooked if you keep a multitude of dreams in your mental data bank. When I've tried to dream journal, I often made another mistake as well - overcomplicating the practice. I was so focused and stressed on doing things "right" that I burned out quick, stopping the practice altogether. Its left a bad taste in my mouth due to all of these failed attempts and its made something (relatively) simple hard to do. I urge beginners to start a journal because it builds a great foundation on the topic and will (hopefully) lead to less frustration in the future. Great video! Its amazing how so many of these mistakes often tie together or go hand in hand!

From your book (which is amazing!): "There are few dreams that can leave you kicking yourself quite as much as those where you’ve been discussing lucid dreaming, whilst dreaming, yet failed to notice." THAT WAS ME LAST NIGHT. I'm on the step where I was highlighting dream signs and last night I had this conversation with Ryan Seacreast...SMH

Indeed I decided to never stop any of the things I was doing, and it took like 4 1/2 months, but finally got one, and now about that same amount of time later, I've had around 40 of them Give or take a few depending on if waking up slightly and going back into one counts as the same or different, and how long/short time awake would need to be to count as same/different

It seems to me that the thing about going to random enthusiasts online is that they might be describing things that worked for them, but lacking a deeper understanding of mental processes and such, they might be misinterpreting the implications of their experiences, and/or not communicating it in an accurate way. Also, their experience may not apply to everyone else, but they might assume that it does, and thus make broad sweeping generalizations that are actually not as universal as they think. Also, the relative anonymity of being online can tempt people to exaggerate and just outright troll people with false statements.
@Carl_Frank
@Carl_Frank 6 месяцев назад
To expand on my thoughts some more: I do think that if someone has become very adept at having frequent and consistent LDs, they may very well have some good advice on the subject. I'm not denying that. But If they lack sufficient knowledge of related aspects of psychology and physiology, they also may suffer from some Dunning-Kruger effect, and could be making assumptions too readily, confusing correlation and causation, etc. The biggest red flag, to me, is if someone seems to lack humility; even the most learned expert is going to make errors on occasion, or need to amend and adjust their views as new information comes to light. So one has to be careful when absorbing info from random strangers, especially online. I guess I am straying into Captain Obvious territory now, so I will stop.
@bernardkung7306
@bernardkung7306 6 месяцев назад
People are very prone to confuse their own experience/own interpretation of reality (often perceived simply as concrete, personal "experience"), with reality itself. It can be a vicious circle, because one's expectations or interpretations can so heavily shape the "reality" one experiences -- hence a great deal of very sincere and meticulous nonsense around things like "astral projection", "out-of-body", even "reality shifting".

Ok Daniel, I figured out why I get lucid most of the time. After I been doing this for so long the brain learns what you are trying to do. I like the counting method for inducing lucidity. Everytime I do it I get lucid. It has a very high success rate with me. It takes time for the mind to understand what it is you're trying to do. Thats why you stick with one technique which is what I did. I'm still going strong. I'm learning more dream control techniques and guess what gender swapping is easy now. I just look in their eyes and change.

Hello from France ! The only reality check that works every time (for me ) even when I'm very tied after work and sport trainings is "hand reality check" thanks to that technique i become lucid in my dreams very easily! It's very know and old technique... During the day (without phone and applications) every 5 or 10 minutes I watch my hands and I ask myself "am I dreaming? " and I really analysing my hands (because you know that in the dreams our hands are pretty funny , sometimes you have 3 fingers ect ...😂 ) Than in my ordinary dreams, I have every time that moment that I look my hands and I directly become conscious that I'm dreaming even before I ask myself "I'm I dreaming" in my dream ! Thanks for your vidéos really great channel for lucid dreamers!

I am having a period of crazy weird intense dreams that look or feel a lot like Prophetic dreams or dreams predicting the future (bad things in the future). i had dreams lately about Space but not good dreams. its about the End of the Universe and even Star Systems, Alien races that gets problems with their planet thats doomed to die and last night i had a dream about a Planet bombarded with asteroids and even gamma Ray's from their dying stars, while i was on a ship of the aliens in wich they say it could be The End of the Universe because the star systems Gamma Ray's are too powerfull and can kill many other stars, planets and alien lifeform. also in that same dream somehow i was on a bridge and police tried to stop me for walking over the bridge because they said that brigde was broken and then i saw that indeed that bridge was halfway gone and was like "oops, sorry, i havent seen the danger!" and the polive tried to search for my ID and writing something. all whilst i looked also at a blue white like planet with an Blue Eye Storm (like a mix between Jupiters Red Spot but witht the colours of Neptune) and then woke up from my alarm lol. I wrote it down in my dreamjournal and i feel like this is futuristic predictions... or... it could be the fact that i watched too many "Space is Scary" or Space videos in general that i am obsessed with this subject again. the positive of that dream : i was in space (but still its Non Lucid Dream) the negative, it makes me afraid of the future of the universe. Gamma ray's are realy realy bad and can probably kill alien lifeforms OR the dream predicts that Aliens could be in some trouble due to a dying star. But if i want to be skeptic about this i think the futuristic time / space traveling dreams are just because i'm watching too much of this on youtube. by the way, if i did'nt wrote this down in my Dreamjournal i probably would have forgotten the dream already or forgetting it two days later so Dreamjournals are good not only for Lucid Dreams but to get more memorable Non Lucid Dreams as well. i do this for Lucid Dreams but the Non Lucid Dreams are still amazing as well because its all the Subconcious and i'm fascinated by this. as for the video : very fun video and it had some good tips and funny clips, i love it. ps : i actually think i want to "try" Binaural Beats, just to see (or hear) what its like but like you said, it probably would'nt work. also, have asked this a lot but never answered but... what's your opinion on stones? can some Krystals or stones get you better chances of Lucid Dreaming or do you think its all placebo? i had purchased two stones that probably get me more chances of Lucid Dreaming and i actually got lucid the first night after i buyed them so I do believe but if its placebo than thats okay. so whats your opinion on it? and if there is no magic Lucid Dreaming Stone, then why did i had a lucid dream that same night i buyed the stones? is it realy the power of believe or was it just a coincidence? maybe Krystals (or stones) do realy work. i'll probably see you sunday at the Live video as always (thats something to end my weekend and the comunity is amazing, and i always look forward for these live videos)
@LucidDreamPortal
@LucidDreamPortal 6 месяцев назад
Hey Neta Wow, that's a pretty bonkers dream! Remember that it's not uncommon for our dreams to reflect the content we consume in our waking lives - it's all part of memory consolidation and rehearsal. So, if you've been binging on "Space is Scary" videos, it's no wonder your subconscious is serving up some pretty intense and vivid space-themed dreams. While it's tempting to see these dreams as prophetic visions of the future, I'd suggest you to approach them with a healthy dose of skepticism and remember that dreams are one way for our minds to process fears, anxieties, and fascinations. As for the crystals and stones, from a scientific perspective, there isn't any evidence (or reason for that matter) to support the idea that crystals or stones directly influence lucid dreaming or anything else either. But if you enjoy using them and feel that they're helping you, then there's no harm in using them (crystals are very pretty after all) - I'd just ask that you keep in mind that any benefits are coming from your own mind. There's a fair bit of potency to having symbolic representations of ideas. While I don't believe in magic, I do believe in power of the mind, and humans have been using symbolic tools since the dawn of time. Your lucid dream the night after buying the stones is almost certainly a coincidence or a result of your excitement and anticipation.

You are my idol. ❤ Question: why i feel more tired and sleep extra when i do wake back to bed ?
@LucidDreamPortal
@LucidDreamPortal 6 месяцев назад
You're too kind! Wake Back to Bed is a form of artificial sleep disruption, so it's quite unhealthy for sleep. I wouldn't recommend it as a lucid dream practice - it doesn't have any firm science behind it, but there is a lot of firm science to suggest that interrupting sleep damages one's health. I would recommend instead of Wake Back to Bed, enjoy morning naps instead. Morning naps are a much better time for inducing lucidity, and don't harm your health or sleep cycle.

Morning naps target the longest period of REM sleep and do not interrupt the sleep cycle in an aggressive and unhealthy way. WBTB is also not based on any scientific research and is something more of a "gamble" with timing. Morning naps are considerably more effective and healthy
