Now that the Flying Trainer RC plane is gone, I'm looking for a new plane and I figured perhaps I'd also get myself a new engine.
I have a box of busted engines that I've pulled out of my RC planes over the years. One of my favorites was the Russian MAC/MDS 60, a really high-performance glow engine from the 1980s.
When I went to HobbyClub.com I found that they still have a small number of these engines left for sale -- so I snapped one up.
These engines don't come with a warranty and require a bit of work to get them into running order but once you've actually seen one running you will realize just what a deal they are.
No, I don't get commission or anything and I paid my $49.95 plus shipping just like everyone one else but I thought I'd share this find with viewers in case some of you, like myself, want something a little different and a lot more exciting than the average glow engine -- at a give-away price. Of course you'll also need a tuned pipe to make them sing -- they don't even come with a muffler.
If there are any left, you'll find them at:

Stay tuned for the strip/clean/reassemble video and then the flight vids which, I'm sure, will be pretty damned exciting!
And also remember to check out the performance of the recently departed Flying Trainer when it had one of these engines in it:
