@@CD-vb9fi SPARC, MIPS, POWER and Alpha. RISC can be mighty powerful, and even high TDP. Arm has just traditionally been in the lower TDP ranges, but you can sure as hell bring a RISC core high wattage, perhaps even moreso than x86. All jokes aside... there is a reason RISC remains in limited application spaces for now. The amount of work to make all the things we need to run on them is too much. Maybe in the future, but not right now. RISC has it's uses... I am not a fan boi of either... but facts be facts. RISC is great for high efficiency and low demands. But when you need to process complex instructions... RISC just can't do the job as well. Each has their pro's and con's and neither are a good replacement for the other. Same as for Beelink, these mini-PC are fantastic. But they need to start putting USB-C ports on the rear for video output and accepting the PD. This way, one can use the one cable from a monitor, avoiding the power brick, and avoiding having a cable always on the front.
@bertman94
@bertman94 Год назад
I was recently emailing them about the pd ports as I'd like to be able to take it in my campervan without running an inverter and asked why they're on the front, the CS rep said it's because they imagine most of the time it will be mounted behind the monitor or in a cabinet and therefore they don't see visual design as a big issue 🤷‍♂️ I get where they're coming from especially given the size constraints they're under as well

Rumour mill is they have something like that coming out next year. Speculation : I imagine they probably had a deal with Sony and Microsoft to not release powerful APU that would compete with the new consoles for X amount of years. I've heard around the 40 compute unit mark so 3.5x more performance than the integrated graphics in 7940 ( GFLOPS anyway actual gaming performance would be less) I think that would put it in rtx 2070 territory which would be amazing for integrated.
@H94R
@H94R Год назад
i think the only issue is that it’ll probably cost way more than a comparable cpu and used gpu combo which can be individually upgraded down the line. say 399 for the apu (best case scenario) or 300 for comparable individual parts with an upgrade path.

Great to watch a video with someone as excited as I am to get mine soon! I have watched a few demos and researched every small factor out there right now and this one is the best one. I am so happy to see it being demoed and I have been blown away with how cool it stays when gaming. Plus, eGPU capable with 60-65 watt going to the CPU in that configuration... WOW! Almost desktop performance with something so small!! Minisforum has really done an amazing job on this one, and if anyone is considering another brand, do your research on the specs, I have, and this one beats them all and can be purchased for less when it's on sale, and even when it is not on sale it comes in under others offering much less! Some details you can find in FAQ below! BOTH! the USB4 ports on the UM790 Pro support power delivery, and they can be used as a power supply port. - The default TDP is 60W, and it can be manually adjusted to 65W. - Up to four monitors can be connected at the same time with a maximum resolution of 8K@60Hz. x2 and 4k@144Hz x2. - The UM790 Pro supports eGPU.

I could be looking at a $600 mini-PC that has more than twice the power, four times the memory and storage than the base model M2 Mac Mini. With the hangs on the UM690 in many cases traced to the NVMe SSD overheating, this makes alot of sense. These minisforum pc's are such a great deal, I've been looking at their other models for a while, killer performance for the price

They're great if you want something small & simple. You can probably build a more powerful PC for the same price, but it's so much work for a few extra frames. These things are capable of running 99% of games today.

@@prefontaine2790 I've tried in a pc builder, but getting all that for under 500 is quite hard. Especially accounting for usb-4 connections

@@mantenbrink look up Zach's Build $500 on YT. He showed an easily doable & good-looking $500 build with a GTX 1060 6gb that is about the same performance as the 680m iGPU. Any GPU 1060 or above should be as capable as the 7840hs.

Can't wait to see these integrated graphics on desktop PCs, I think we are just one generation away from from seeing 1080p 60fps being mastered by integrated graphics to the point where people will look at you stupid for buying a graphics card for 1080p gaming in the near future.

The amount of companies that didn't bring the right cables, or such for their displays is kinda crazy when you consider they know people like LTT and GN are walking around looking at stuff and wil 100% want to plug it in and test it etc... This isn't the first time they've done this!!
