Love the old school clips....glad to see you guys are out there having a good time...im right with ya dude..the woods were packed where ive been going ...thanks for the video...fresh air is where it's at...
Been watching videos from both you guys for a few years now. Have enjoyed them all. Glad to see you guys and your families are doing well during this time. Hike on!!!
Thank you for sharing. Glad you, Mike and your families are all doing well. We all need to get out and chill. You all be safe and the best to your families.
Nice to see Mike out with you. Great job picking that location very nice having the cabin backup with the storm rolling in. Thankfully I have one friend who has been has isolated as me so we still backpack while following the guidelines. Always nice getting away with a friend especially during times like this. Good to see Mike could reset.
Looks like you two men had a great 2 day get away, exactly what we all need. It just doesn't feel like America right now. Thanks for reminding us of what real.
It was great to see you and Mike out on the trail again...quarantine sucks but we are alive! All of the parks and trails are closed in our area and to find a trail it's over five hours to get to a trail however it might entail some stealth camping. My gear is packed in my Jeep and I'm ready to bust out of here. That Dutchware double tarp is pretty cool and the price isn't too bad either. If not overland camping I set up a two separate tarps if there's inclement weather involved...sleep under one, cook and enjoy a small campfire (UCO fire pit) under the other. I miss the "it's cheeseburger time" at the end of the video...hopefully we'll hear it again soon.
Hi, Shawn & Mike 👍🏻👍🏻 it’s good to see y’all back out in the wilderness doing some hiking and hammock camping adventure along with a nice overnight at the cabin. I have just been staying at home walking my lab Jase three times a day and relaxing in the hammock in the backyard. I will be looking forward to seeing more hiking and hammock camping adventures. Enjoy and have a Great Friday !!! Danny
Nice that you were able to have a cabin as a backup plan. I’m sure the getaway was a welcome change of scenery. Even in the rain, the view was beautiful to wake up to on the first night. Thanks and stay safe. ATB
Thank god you put something out there. I was lost without some decent stuff. My brother and his hiking partner were just there last weekend, on the BFT.
Sean, great video. I actually just watched this from my cabin on the lake in Bucksport, Maine. Same kind of setup. No electricity, propane, and a generator. I always watch Whiterook85 s channel and really enjoy the cabin videos. Ive sent you guys multiple whiskeys for spring and deer season weeks. Last year it was the double oak Woodford. Great to see you guys enjoying the outdoors but able to include the cabin as well. Because I’ve been laid off ( just starting work again Tuesday ) my wife and I have been able to spend more time up at our cabin than any other year! Just wanted to thank you for bringing us along. Hope to see more cabin videos from you in the future. Nice to see how you and Whiterook85 are making some great improvements and clean outs, and updates to the cabin! Senior would be thrilled!
Hey, man. Thanks! That Woodford was some good stuff and much appreciated. HAppy to hear you've been able to get some cabin time and that you'll be back to work soon as well :)
Hello my outdoors friend, thank you for sharing your entertaining video. It looks like you gentlemen had a good time. It certainly beats being in quarantine or lockdown. Be safe and stay healthy. 🤗
Greetings from Shasta County California. Was on my own trip two weeks ago. Had to bring the kids outdoors. A much needed reset for all involved. Didnt see anybody for almost 24 hrs.
Thanks for this video!! Looks like an awesome area! I have done part of the West Rim trail back in May 2019. Beautiful views! Do you have any videos on the west rim trail? Haven't found any yet.
My husband and I hang from the same set of trees w spreader bars too. Mainly cuz I’m a chicken shit when it come to sleeping in the woods. I love it when I can quickly elbow the husband and say What was that! At 3 am :)
Thanks for this. Today is day 51 sheltering in the apartment from the COVID hell that is NYC, I would have been out every week since early march otherwise.
Our provincial government finally re-opened the parks. It's been tough finding ways to stay outside. Now the problem in Alberta is not the virus but the deep snow. The trails are taking longer than usual to clear up.
My wife and I were just up in Alberta for the first time in mid Febraury. It was beautiful and a great trip. We had no idea how lucky were were to have gone while we had the chance though.
Seriously love your vids man. As a life long camper, the idea of backpacking as always intrigued me but I have never gotten a chance to do it. Now I am obsessed and I have to get equipment and get out to backpack. Alas the equipment is not being nice to my bank account haha......so if you wanna just dump your old gear.....just kidding....but seriously. Honestly though, thank you so much for doing these videos. I have a hammock myself and love the idea of hammock camping. Keep up the work bud. It's got me really excited about the chance to do some backpacking. I have learn so many tricks and tips from watching your trips. Also.....pitbulls are the best!!!!!!!!!! Great dogs, the world needs more pitties
Thanks, Matt. I'm happy to hear that. Here's a vid I did on budget backpacking that might make it easier to get started :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BATobrOEK5Q.html
Cant believe I've only just found this channel, I'm enjoying them cheers. I only watch these type of vids and not once has it been recommended?? Anyway I've got 11years worth of videos to binge watch so I'll be off!
God bless you syntax for putting out another quality outdoors vid while I am stuck in my house. Supper tonight: sauteed shrimp and sausage with onions, carrots, peppers and picante sauce on a large Mission tortilla. Maybe with cheese. I still have to peel the skrimpz! Stay safe.
Love it! Glad to see Trailkilla back on the channel. Will you post the original loop? I don't have time for all 42 but would love to do an overnight or weekend.
Here's my full Black Forest Trail loop video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mBWnBYhhqAw.html There are links in the vid description with my full blog post, gps data etc
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG thank you soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much for ubloding over quaratine its so helpful bc we are all board thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a Work Zone 2000w Inverter generator. Super quiet and runs all night on 1 gallon. Picked it up for $130 at Aldi. It's also sold under the "Polaris" brand name.
Sintax77 - great trip...as usual. Wondering if you can point me in the right direction. I'm looking to do some boondocking at the end of the month - 5/18/20 - 5/31/20. In your travels in Wellsboro area, are you away of any BLM or related sites that would be available?
Does this bring back memories! My wife and I hiked a section of the black forest trail about 20-30 years ago. Just as you, we arrived late, started about the time it began to get dark. As we descended into the cover it got real dark real fast. I pulled out my flashlight ...the bulb blew after 5 minutes! I used a small lantern, which ran off a small GAZ canister, held out at arms length. It was too dark to tell exactly how steep our descent really was! We finally made it to the bottom, crossed a small stream and managed to locate a campsite in the near dark, pitch our tent and fall into it . The next morning we climbed out of the tent and stared in disbelief at the trail we had come down the night before. It went up, up, up! I said ok quick breakfast and we hike right back out! my wife looked at me and said why? As sore as we are now, we will be more so in the morning...we'll never get out of here! It took us till 1pm to hike out. We dropped our packs at the service road and hiked another 1.5 miles to the car and drove back to get our packs. A hot shower and a hotel bed never felt so good!! I never made that mistake(series of mistakes)again!
What shirt is Mike wearing at the cabin? It looks very comfortable and versatile shirt. BTW, love the video and that you guys were able to get out there! I'm trying to plan my breakout away from cabin fever. Also, I just realized the irony of you guys going to a cabin to help with your cabin fever. 😆
@sintax77. What current video and gps gear do you use? Is there an updated review on that stuff that I am missing? PS...I need a cabin in the woods for all the same reasons Mike states in the video.
Thanks for sharing and setting a great example. By applying some common sense, you CAN enjoy the outdoors while still being "safe" for yourself and others.
I guess I don't understand why you would pick to share a tarp and hang that close with a friend with everything going on? Wouldn't it have made more sense to each have your own hammock and tarp setup 10 feet apart right now? I always love your videos, and have been doing a lot of solo backpacking lately and a little with a few friends keeping it small and keeping our distance. Just think separate sleeping setup would have been a better choice.
Should probably watch the whole film before commenting, but by the size of those packs I'm thinking this is going to be some serious privative glamping!! Been doing too!
I was looking to see if you have a video about that outdoor vitals puffy your wearing. I could not find said video, so what do you think of it? It looks kinda cheap, JS.
It's been my go-to jacket for about a year and a half. I've had good results with it. I used a Montbell down parka for years prior and loved it, but the synthetic fill in the OV jacket only cost me a few ounces and I find much more forgiving for wet conditions and occasional washing.
Nice video but a bit short you needed another 2 days at the cabin and dont forget the drinks and popcorn remember the new chain saw blade that vacation from quarantine was just too short but breath be happy and stay safe
sintax77 thanks! I’m headed to dolly sods in a couple weeks hopefully if the roads open back up. Really enjoy your videos. You inspired me to get in the woods. Keep the awesome videos coming!
Believe me I am extremely stir crazy myself and the only people I see are the six to eight people that are at work and the very few people I see you at the grocery which is 8 to 15 feet apart from each other
