I've been waiting for an RGBWW hard light for ages, then along comes the Prolycht Orion 300 FS which is even better. This light gives the most accurate colour rendition I've ever seen, it's also feature-packed and literally does everything I want from a light.

This really felt like an honest review! I'm going to see if I can get my hands on one of these units for testing. I've tried godox's 150R and was highly unimpressed, so this unit seems massively more useful! Thanks Phillip for the review and the excellent video!

The production values of your reviews is stellar! The attention to detail in each shot, the judicious use of music (especially classical), shots like 7:53, 12:21 and 14:36 remind me of something Kubrick would do (I am not trying to be hyperbolic) - I can only imagine the amount of work you put into these. Is the spread of the beam better than the original 300? I know there was an issue when using modifiers like a softbox or lantern. The light would actually bounce off the front of the lantern, back into the the sides, thus creating unbalanced light output. Also, did they address the fan noise from the original? Great review as always, sir. :)

amazing lights. wonderful. you didn't show any use of it outside as a fill in bright sunlight. I assume it would work fine for that maybe through a scrim some sort? would it be powerful enough to handle that for interview purposes?

Yeah it’s a powerful light. But I don’t have bright sunshine! Use with a lightbridge board like I did. Probably a number 3.

Another top of the line review Philip - makes me want to go out right now and purchase them... and they do look amazing and do sooooo many things are are lacking in this type of LED lighting today - they are top shelf price - but hey... we get what we pay for and these babies are a heck of a lot of light with benefits galore. Any comparison on output to the comparable aputure or nanlight 300? (Which is daylight only so should have more punch) looking for something to use with the crls that has that punch but also comparable output to the nanlight 300 I already own. Rgb is nice but not necessary.

with all these RGB lights coming out, all with 'GEL' modes with all the Rosco gell numbers. What's going to happen to Rosco now? And if Rosco is eventually gone the way of film, are we still going to keep all the Rosco gell numbers? ;)

Rosco makes a lot of other interesting products. Plus they bought DMG Lumière a couple of years ago, so now they're also in the color light fixture business.

The only, I say “ONLY “ problem with this light, is the ability to give clean shadows, as it’s not really a “point” light source. It’s a hard light, just not “hard” enough

@@philipbloom was torn between this or Fiilex Q5/Q8, which produces “hard point source light” with fresnel lens on (clean sharp shadow), eventually Prolycht won for its versatility and lens accessory which Fiilex doesn’t offer. Prolycht can have sharp edged shadows with the lens attached, but very limited to only the gobo shapes, I can not use let’s say a plant to create my own sharp shadows : Fiilex Q5 review from Gaffter&Gear ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dFfPeypnUPI.html , Starts 10:00

@@clash_new_taipei not at all Regan. I had the iris on in my little montage and you also have the shaper. If you don’t have anything in you just get a 23 or so degree spread of light that you can focus it
