Assalmaualykum Anya, How does one go about increasing the strength of Retinol? You are using 1% and you suggested 0.1-0.2% for beginners. After how long and by what percentage should we increase its strength? Also, how should people with combination skin apply retinol? Lastly, after protecting/moisturising thin areas, can we apply retinol there? Eyelids, undereyes etc. And should it be applied on hands? Thank you.
Hey Anya, First of all love you and love your content 💕 Secondly, how do you manage all this with your prayers? I usually put on my moisturizer and sunblock, but after a few hours, it's time for Zuhar, Asar, and then Magrib. Do we have to do all these steps every time we do wuzu? Won't that be too much for the skin? And if not, then won't that be too little for the skin? 😅
Thank you! I apply it in the morning. Even giving it 2-3 hours to absorb is enough. The only thing you have to re apply is sunscreen and at night after I’ve prayed, an hour before going to bed.

Salam Anya. I do agree with how retinol is a transforming skin ingredient. However the problem I get with the ordinary retinol is that they have a very short shelf life maybe some months and if I use only some drops of it in a week, by the end of those months, the bottle is still almost half filled. I don’t know now if that is the case with everyone, but this is the only thing that makes me not want to buy ordinary retinol or any retinol for that matter because the ordinary retinols are the only ones affordable and quality guaranteed.

As a doctor and a retinol user, I can say that this was easily one of the best and most comprehensive videos on retinol. People do tell about retinol but forget to mention the adverse effects and the contraindications to it’s usage. So good job. 👍🏼 And best of luck for your plab!

Hi Anya, I’m a physician based in USA. It was good vlog, informative but i did notice that you did not mention tretinoin which is usually prescribed by physicians and is a stronger option. I agree super goop is a great sunscreen. I use it myself.
Tretinoin isn’t accessible for everyone and shouldn’t be used without a dermatologists prescription plus it’s not a great idea to start with such a strong concentration of retinol unless you have a specific treatment concern like cystic or nodular acne. I don’t think it’s the best idea to give medical advice over the internet or recommend prescription based meds.

Been using retinol since 2 years and it has improved my skin alot. Started with ordinary 0.2% and now on 0.5 every other day. However, using sunscreen is a hustle but ofcourse it has many benefits on its own. Korean/japenese sunscreens are very good. Filters plus texture wise. Purito, etude house sunprise airy finish , biore uv are my go to sunscreens.
Anya you explained everything well! Few things I want to advise being a skincare addict. 1. Retinol or tretinoin causes dryness and I found a very simple solution to it which is mixing glycerin in your moisturizer. Trust me it does wonders. 2. It’s important to exfoliate your skin on days you don’t use tretinoin. I use AHA/BHA 3. It’s very important to make sure your sunscreen is not expired. I am concerned about it when you buy things from random pages in Pakistan. Good luck with your future endeavors!
@@ayeshamughal6483 AHA/BHA is chemical exfoliant. Scrubs are physical exfoliant. Exfoliant removes dead skin cells from your skin which helps absorb skin care products better. It also improves texture of your skin.

Use drunk elephant retinol cream or adapalene not the one u r using plus after a month u will c difference also get good quality moisturizer like I use drunk elephant moisturizer hope helps u also don’t freak just give it some time 3 months at least

I'm in my 50's. My skin was in a very good place till I started using pea size retinol 0.025% with a gentle moisturiser twice a week at night for almost a month and a half for rejuvenation and to prevent aging. Not realising what it was doing to my skin. It ruined my texture and caused orange peel texture with dents like pop marks. I have been so upset! Its been three years my skin is not back to normal . Can you suggest any thing to improve the texture. I will appreciate.
