I have an old episode of Magical World of Disney on VHS that I taped back in 1990 and the intro is slightly different...between 0.59 and 1.06 they feature a montage of clips from other Disney films including 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Mary Poppins, I will upload it one day to compare the two intros. Always gives me goosebumps watching this, reminds me of a time when I was young and innocent. How I wish I was 5 years old again and didn't know what I know now. L
A much more shorter version was often shown during a airing of DuckTales The Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp on Disney Channel way back in the 90s (possibly 1992)
The name change might've been for legal reasons; IIRC, there was already a "Wonderful World of Disney" on in Syndication at the time. Two shows with the same name on at the same time might've been too confusing; therefore, NBC was "Magical" and Syndication was "Wonderful".
The MAGICAL World of Disney became a spinoff of the original Wonderful World of Disney TV series in 1991, when it premiered on Disney Channel. The spinoff aired for 11 seasons, from 1991 to 2002.
