Why did they ever have to stop the Wonderful World of Disney Sunday night movie. We used to gather around the TV each Sunday night, we all loved those nights.
The 1997-2003 one is the best... with the Whole New World being mixed into it. It had all the modern disney renaissance characters in it. Well at least up until Hercules. It was only missing Mulan and Tarzan but it was still great
Mulan was released in 1999 and Tarzan in 1999. The 1997 intro is also the one I mostly grew up with, and it's still one of my favorites. But all of the aughts ones after that are just AWFUL.
I would have to agree with you, because My Husband Adam, our Four Children, our 4-year-old Identical Twins named Ruth (Girl) and Ben (Boy), our 6-year-old daughter named Hannah, our 8-year-old son Timmy, and I would watch the Wonderful World of Disney Movies, Sometimes we would watch a Family Movie, sometimes the kids would watch an Animated Movie, sometimes Adam and I would watch a Wonderful World of Disney Movie, Just me and Him, In Fact Adam and I are planning to take the kids to Walt Disney World, we're planning on taking them in November, after Hurricane Ida is through and everything's safer.
I grew up in the 60's-70's, I can remember coming inside on Sunday evening, after being outside playing all day, . Mom would have a wonderful dinner on the table, and the family would all watch Disney on the TV as we ate. Those were the good old days!!
This too was my childhood, except it started with Church, then lunch and then playing until dinner time in which the table would be moved to tv room for Disney!
@@marlareid883 We went to church or Catholic Mass every Sunday at 7AM. I hated to get up early on Sunday, but my Dad insisted on going to the early service, cause it was less crowded. He didn't like crowds. I think WW2 made him that way.
@@BubbleArcadia I like all of them, also My Husband Adam and I are planning on taking our five children, our 5-year-old Identical Twins named Heidi (Girl) and Julian (Boy), our 7-year-old son named Josh, our 9-year-old Identical Twins named Kayleigh (Girl) and Lucas (Boy), to Walt Disney World This Summer, also I have a collection of Walt Disney Movies in the bookshelves in the Family Movie room of my house, I have Walt Disney Home Video, Walt Disney Black Diamond Classics, Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection, Walt Disney Gold Classics, Walt Disney Home Entertainment, Adam, Heidi, Julian, Josh, Kayleigh, Lucas, and I would Watch Walt Disney Movies, we would each have a bowl of hot popcorn with hot butter from our own standing popcorn machine, a candy bar, a soda pop, we would watch the Disney Movie, ever since the Pandemic Started we've been watching Disney Movies, sometimes we would watch a Disney Family Movie, sometimes, Heidi, Julian, Josh, Kayleigh, and Lucas would watch a Disney Animated Movie, Our Top 200 Favorite Disney Movies (From Live Action to Animated) are. 200. I remember going to grandmas for Sunday dinner, in the late 60s early 70s, and always watching Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, and then right after, The Wonderful World of Disney with the wonderful stories/movies. Man that's when it was magical entertainment. Loved it as a kid!
Wild Kingdom was my favourite show as a little kid. It instilled a deep love and respect for nature and wildlife which still endures a half century later. And of course we all gathered round to watch the Wonderful World of Disney as a family each week, when Walt Disney himself hosted the show and sometimes even interacted with his animated characters. What magic that was!
I was born in the 90s, but the 1988 one is my favorite of those from before my time. I love the way they combined "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" with "When You Wish Upon a Star," perhaps because the former is probably my all-time favorite Disney film song.
I watched Disney shows back in the 70s, such great memories, looked so forward to it especially during holidays, such a shame today’s young generation won’t ever be a part of this..
As kids we watched Disney World in the 50s later "The Wonderful World of Color:...Honeymooned at Disney World in mid 70's....A simpler time with great stories and animation
The ones I grew up with (mid-to-late 80’s) start at 5:38, and the one I remember the most is at 6:33. I had completely forgotten what they sounded like and now I’m sitting here sobbing like a baby. I looked forward to this every Sunday night. What a wonderful memory to revisit, thank you so much for sharing this!
Man, I miss the anticipation as a child eagerly waiting every Sunday night for The Wonderful World Of Disney. Sitting in the living room floor with my family as we enjoyed the magic!
What amazing memories this brings up. I think it's safe to say that your favorite intro will probably be the one you grew up with. Mine is the fourth, 1969 - 1970. When I was eight years old I was living with my mom in southern California and my dad would fly in once a year to spend a few days with me. One visit he took me to Disneyland and when we walked up to the entrance booth my father was told that the entire park was closed for a private party. Whatever sad tragic tale he said worked and we were allowed in the park provided we stay away from the private event. Imagine. I'm with my dad at Disneyland at the age of eight and we had the whole place to ourselves. We rode the Haunted House ride and the Pirates of the Caribbean ten times. That was 1974. Now it's 50 years later and I would just like to thank whoever it was at the ticket gate that let us in. And of course my father who swung it.
Walt understood the power of happiness. I was a child in the 70s, when Tinkerbell would fly out, splashing the screen with bursts of grey, grey, and grey. (We didn't have colour TV in our home until around 1984.)
Too bad. I was lucky to have color TV sometime in the mid-70s. Seriously, if you didn't have a color TV in the 70s or 1980 or 1981 at the earliest, the commercials for Crayola crayons and the Twister game made no sense at all.
I miss those days. I grew up watching in the early 70s, never missed a show! I'd watch Marlin Perkins' Wild Kingdom at 6:30 pm, and the Wonderful World of Disney followed at 7:00 pm. Sunday night's were special!
Surprisingly, the 1997 intro (the one at 9:47) has received tons of variations. These include whole new intros that still uses this intro's theme, or even modifying the old 1997 intro to add more stuff to it
The 7th and 8th were my childhood years enjoying every Friday,Saturday,Sunday Disney movie. So many classic's. "The Love Bug" "Little Spies" "Mr Boogdy" "Marry Poppins" "Return To Oz" "The Absent Minded Professor" "Flight Of The Navigator" "The Brave Little Toaster" "The Great Mouse Detective" some of my personal favs.
I think they're the worst. Choppy music and video on some, music and video out of sync on others, and CG that has aged like milk on all of them. On the last aughts one they literally copied and pasted the music from the CG castle title.
Wow brings back so many memories. I’m from the late 70’s-early 90’s. I remember Sunday nights were so special. Myself, My parents and 2 siblings would be in the living room watching the Disney night movie. It was the highlight of Sunday. And we usually ate take out Sunday night. Like a pizza or Chinese food. It felt so safe and I sound corny but wholesome. I wish I could go back just once and experience another Sunday night like that.
I remember there was a Tarzan-looking dude throwing himself from the top of the waterfall instead of Ariel in the second-to-last one. And no, he wasn't George of the Jungle, but instead someone else in Ariel's place.
Honestly the best thing about being a Kid in the 2000's for me was going to the school , play and in the end watch the wonderful world of Disney joining every movie. Honestamente lo mejor de ser un niño en los 2000's , para mí fue ir al colegio, jugar y ver el maravilloso mundo de Disney disfrutando cada película
When we finally got a color tv in the early 60’s we all sat in front of the tv waiting for The Wonderful World of Disney to come on. I still remember seeing Tinker Bell splashing colors all over the screen for the first time and hearing all the oohs and ahhs! Thanks for the memories!!!
What you are thinking of that most people forgot are the commercial break intermissions that showed tinkerbell spelling out disney with the Castle logo in the background
@@bizzleblue38 it's deeper than that. There was a bumper of Tinkerbell spelling out Disney with her wand and then dotting the I in Disney and it now has gone extinct. It appeared during the early 90s
They should show _The Wonderful World of Disney_ every Sunday night at 8/7c (after _America's Funniest Home Videos_ or during *their* season, NASCAR) on ABC with such hosts as Jodie Sweetin, Jaleel White, Bronson Pinchot, Ben Savage and many other TGIF veterans.
What a great compilation here....The one that makes me teary eyed is the 4th one at 2:59 from 69-79 that I saw most as a kid, almost every Sunday night at Nana's house on channel 4 (NBC) in Brooklyn, NYC...The Disney medley played by that orchestra was so spectacular with "When You Wish Upon A Star" standing out most.... A couple of those intros were awful... noticeably the 5th and 9th ones....NBC dropped this classic American show in 1981 and it moved around after that
Thank you! I started out with Walt Disney Wonderful World of Color on a black and white TV. It didn’t matter! The same can be said about The Wizard of Oz. Sunday nights were special then.
This brings back so many happy memories! Always looked forward to gatherning around the TV Sunday evening to watch 'Disneyland', as my siblings called it, which seemed magical to me. Mom would make us a big bowl of popcorn as we took in the likes of Tinkerbelle, Davy Crockett, Swamp Fox, Mickey, Minnie and Donald Duck. Enough to make a grown man cry! Ready for this one? Our house was close enough to Disneyland, we could see the fireworks from our back yard!! How blessed we were.... Miss those days.....
It would be nice to go back and live in through 70s, 80s, 90s, back when things held value, mattered; back when things weren't so f***** up. I was born in 2000. And nothing good has come since me being alive. Times have changed drastically and disturbingly.
1997 Wonderful World of Disney Intro had Mowgli from the Live Action remake of the Jungle Book and one of the Three Musketeers. 1998 Intro had Ariel from The Little Mermaid and George from George of the Jungle
@Boycott The Media Boycott The Media Yes. In this one we see 9:54 Arial, The other version had Adult Mowgli from the 1994 version of Disney’s The Jungle Book jumping down the waterfall. Also, In this one we see 10:01 George of the Jungle, The other version had some other guy swinging on a rope
Ours even in the 2000s (with some slight differences, e.g. it included Eiffel Tower - probably as a reference to the fact the Disneyland in Europe is in Paris), before Saturday morning Disney shows. To me - the best intro of all these. The one from 4:55 seems to have been used by our TV in 1980s - although in the US it was just 1979-1981. But I learned about it just recently, finding such a recording from the Polish TV - maybe it was also for a very short moment, quickly replaced with something new? No idea, and the world of Polish TV from before 1990s is largely undiscovered. Few people who lived back then are likely to remember what intro was used - and there are, also, almost no recordings - as video recorders weren't so widely available over here yet. Being part of Eastern Bloc, we were, generally, 10 years back in terms of technology with respect to the West (and in some fields much more). 1989 was a breakthrough but after that we had 10 years of catching up with the West. 10 years (and even more), throughout which the country was in a huge financial crisis.
For the fifth intro, I remembered it and there were some scenes from The Rescuers, The Aristocats, Bambi, Peter Pan, and Alice in Wonderland. But for the fourth intro, I love seeing a clip from Alice in Wonderland and The Sword in the Stone. But I remember the music from classic Disney movies.
“…..On SUNDAYS I’d never be late too sit infront of the tv, it was the only time back then that children could have control over the entire tv at (6:30-until) Disney features went off”!!! G-MOMMEE
I remember the Walt Disney presents intro and I love seeing Mickey,Pluto and scenes from Fantasia, Alice in Wonderland and Lady and the Tramp. I love seeing Donald and Mary Poppins. I think the sixth intro is neat. But the 2 movies I remember are The Fox and The Hound along with Old Yeller and that movie is sad.
My Disney intro was the 5th one, 81 - 83. I remember sitting down with Mom after being outside whole day on Sunday at 6pm. Hee haw would follow up at 7
