The Magicians 3x05 - A Life in the Day Reaction Sorry the focus is a little off...autofocus is my enemy today. Like-Comment-Subscribe-Share / marciedefeo periscope.tv/marciedefeo
I didn't think the Magicians could make me feel invested in Quentin, yet here I am, shipping Eliot with him. This show keeps surprising me in all the right ways, I just never know what to expect and somehow I love every episode; that is so rare! I hope there are many more seasons to come!
That was such a great episode. I love that Q and Elliot got together and were happy in their poly relationship. This show is so fantastic. I'm wondering what the faery queen wants and why she wants the kingdoms together.
HaughtBreaker One of them (Quentin’s wife) didn’t look happy after several years of marriage. At first I thought the red haired wife died because Quentin was crying, but after watching the scene over and over again I realized that she didn’t died. She left Quentin. I haven’t read the books so this is all what I came up after watching and rewatching the scene. Quentin’s son didn’t looked sad for his mother’s “death”. He looked normal. I think she left Quentin after several years because she didn’t understand Quentin’s reason (the quest) for staying in the cabin trying to solve The mosaic. Imagine you are in a relationship and your partner keeps doing certain activity over and over again, and the only reason he/she gives you is that it’s part of a quest. At first you might understand because you love your partner, but years later that love might start to change into dissatisfaction. You might thing I’m wrong but look at her expression when they first kissed. She is full of love. Then look at the kiss after several years, in the story, that love is no longer there. Again my humble opinion.
@@IskanderTheConqueror interesting observations, I’ve often wondered as to what happened to Ariel wether she died or left Quinton, what drive it home for me that she died was that she left behind their son which is rare with mothers not saying doesn’t happen but usually mothers would take their children with them if leaving but it is Fillory so I don’t know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Quentin's kid doesn't exist now that was in a time line that now doesn't exist since Margo went back in time to stop them from going to solve the mosaic
+Travis Hunt I think that would be true if it wasn't for the Jane Chatwin they know have received her key from old man Quentin, so they existed before in their timeline as well. Another thing is that "future Margo" traveling back to stop them mean there were two of her between that moment and when the one who is in Fillory travels back.
I think the alternate timeline still exists separately from the main one. How could present day Elliot and Quentin remember what they lived if it was erased? I agree that adult Jane having the key old Quentin gave her also seems to suggest the alternate timeline at least still happened despite Margo going back to change things.
They remembered when quieten touched the note and Elliot ate the peach, making the timeline simultaneously exist and not exist, giving them the memories
The timeline where Old Quentin and his son lived does exist. Just like all the timelines where the beast won against the crew. Remember when Quentin used “The Tesla” to contact an Alice from a different timeline where the beast won? They eventually killed the beast but all the other times when they lost still exist.
Marcie DeFeo yes. And i liked that they always show they can have a relationship together. I didn't see it working but now i do. I know it probably won't happen though.
Watching this now because I miss Queliot and because of recent episodes.. I just - I'm loving this... hearing you say "they make sense" which is a direct parallel to Quentin's 4x05 "we work" :)
My coworker and I talked about this show all the time. When it was airing, I texted her and I was like, "how does this show continue to get better and better?" It's really fascinating.
This show is one of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Your reaction to the episodes are so fun to watch keep it up. I'm pretty sure that the son is going to come back because we know that he gave the key to jane or none of this would be possible right from the beginning. So his son is definitely still involved, that's what I think.
Correction: the separate timeline is what it is. A separate timeline. It still exists otherwise a paradox would've happened. Its just not the timeline that we will follow much like the previous attempts at the beast. Q contacted an alternate Alice before proving that the previous 39 timelines are still going on, they havent been erased they are just not the one we are seeing. Old Q sent the letter to future Margo to go to Jane. Jane because she is both dead and alive at the same time (schrödinger's Jane lol) told her to go and dig up her body for the key, that way the alive but dead Jane gets to keep hers within the clock barrens because she only exists there while her dead body gets robbed of it. Then present Margo stops the guys from going to past Fillory thus diverging the timelines. In that moment the timeline splits, in one version El and Q go in and do all the things they did allowing Margo to arrive to stop them and split the timeline. An easier example wouldve been if we hadnt seen their alternate lives at all but the moment they wanted to go in the "first" time (there is no first time) Margo appears and stops them and tells them everything but we dont get to see any of that. This is basically how the past 39 time loops happened. Every time the beast won, Jane wound her watch and vanished from the perspective of everyone on that timeline. Their deaths and sacrifices still exist we just dont get to see those timelines. They are still going on though we just happen to see the 40th loop. So think about it this way since the timeline where Q and El grow old together and the one where they dont go to past FIllory affect eachother: When they go in and grow old together thats timeline 40a. When Margo stops them from going in that creates timeline 40b. We follow 40b from that point onwards but 40a still exists and happens in order to allow 40b to be created.
P Crassen ah true I guess it would still exist... But yeah I doubt he will be seen again. Unless an old god uses him against Q somehow later, idk where they will take this... Ember and Umbers parents are still out there... and they wouldn't mention the old gods for no reason. Ps I did watch the ep, I don't need a synapses on what happened lol... Thanks tho?
Alice needs a win that bad huh. And I'm glad we got something more on Julia and magic. The alternate realities thing caught me by surprise. I hope there are ramifications.
Since it seems some can cross between the realities I would think there’d be some ramifications. That’s usually how this goes but i don’t know if they’ll play with that.
I got spoiled by your season 2 reactions while I was marathoning the first 2 seasons and now I have to verify your reaction is up before I can watch an episode.
They lost me on what happened with the keys after Elliot and Quentin died in the alternate timeline. And fan theories about Julia leaned more than she became a demigod due to the attack by Raynard. Her getting his, uh, divine power outright is an interesting spin in it. I wonder what she needs to do to increase her power, and if she can grant use of magic to others?
i don't understand that fact because when she was pregnant of Reynard the first time she return to normal magicians level after that, the same for the other girl Raynard made pregnant (sorry if my english is approximative)
It makes more sense for Alice to have the magic. Julia is awesome but Alice has 5 times the magic knowledge and skill they all have and will probably do more with it
Julia's magic is innate -- that's why Dean Fogg 'failed' her -- she has so much more power than the others, & it's not about what she learns; giving her the surname 'Whicker' gives us a clue; later, she is given a choice, but that remains to be seen.......
Elliot said there were two and 1/2 kingdoms in Fillory. At this point they should all be united so why does the Fairy Queen tempt Mago with 4,000 spear men? What's left to fight? What's up with the Fairy Queen training Margo to be a queen? Jane is just full of spoilers this episode. It also looks like she doesn't care about her death, because she has at least seen the future.
Not genetically unless magic was involved, but Eliot, Quentin and Arielle (the fruit girl) were a family together and Eliot and Quentin took care of his son after Arielle died.
