The Mummery Glacier feeds into the Blaeberry River, as seen in my previous video, near Golden BC. There is a rec site and trail a decent ways up the Blaeberry FSR, where you can reach the toe of the glacier after scrambling up a steep climb, with lots of slabs to keep it interesting. Once up at the edge of the glacier I taste the refreshing, cold, clean water straight from the source. An incredible place to visit. Thanks for watching!

In the very late 1980's I was a forest sciences officer with the BC forest service in Golden and spent much time in the Blaeberry. One of the fun projects was re-establishing the Howse Pass trail used by David Thompson in the early 1800's. It wasn't my project but I tagged along. The crossings, signage, trail etc were pretty much done but funding was pulled so things were never fully completed. To this day the Blaeberry has me my by the heartstrings. This fine video does much to keep that inspiration alive.

Thanks Andy! I have looked into the Howse Pass trail a bit too, and would like to go there, we just didn't have time on this trip. I really do love the beauty of this area. I think some people do the pass today, although I think it gets done pretty rarely.

Curious when you did this?? I'm reading of a washout on the access road. Did you see this at all???
@lifeofluke
@lifeofluke 10 месяцев назад
I did this in the beginning of July. There was no washout at the time. The old road (west side of the river) has been washed out and doesn't go to this spot, the access is 'M' fsr. More detailed driving directions are posted on the Mummery Glacier rec sites page.
