Haley Bennett came very close to 'stealing' this movie, as she played her character to near perfection and got literal vengeance in the process. One of the best remakes ever.
@@chagualitorubitona5920 its crazy how you can just spat off an opinion(comment) like you know me or have known me. of course I understand it oveja. jajajajajaja, that's why I said what I said. una cosa es cierta señor(a) rubitona, eres inculto. jajajajajajaja
The "Hallelujah" part always makes me laugh. So casual and calm while killing him. Like he's teaching a kid how to prey but actually he's killing a guy.
One of the best westerns ever, plenty of shootouts & action scenes, great cast of characters, I loved Denzel Washington in this & was one of his best roles ever. GREAT movie.
I love how at 0:38 they hear singing coming from a nearby building. Arriving to what seems like a ghost town with everybody dead, it just has that effect that if the sight of all his men laying dead on the ground before them, it instills even greater fear that someone is still there waiting for them that is in a town filled with dead people, and only 1 voice heard out of the silence
Maybe my Latin’s not that good but I’m pretty sure he didn’t even say the Trinitarian formula right. Like he’s suddenly trying to be religious and remember how people pray
He was over confident he thought the magnificent seven didn’t stand a chance but as Sam chizlam said back shooters of woman and children don’t count as real man cowards
This scene is so well directed and acted. Such a powerful scene, small but very powerful dialogue, and suspenseful ending. Acting was top notch from both actors.
@@brandoncruise6398 Let's not forget John Wayne's classic, "Rio Lobo." Not based on a true story but it might as well have been because that sort of thing went on all through the South after the American Civil War.
@@TheTarbender1 True, but that movie was made way before Dances With Wolves. I do wish some movies would be made like that again; I'd love to see a movie about Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery trip. Stories like the one you mentioned and the journals just aren't made for the big screen anymore.
Well to each their own for sure when it comes to movies...this one certainly had some good actors...not quite Yul Breener, Steve McQueen, and James Coburn, but not bad either, but the screen play/direction was more than I could stomach...I thought overall it pretty much sucked.
Denzel's character was willing to die , the scene I think resembles him as a devil , and he way actually aware of and enjoy every moment that was happening, after the gunshot he looked at his belly first , he knew what's about to happen but he was unaware of Emma 's presences .
His mother and two sisters where RAPED and MURDERED by Bogue, in no way shape or form does this scene depicts Sam as the devil. You MUST be white and live a bubble to even THINK some crap like that.😂
He was in the building for a moment or few after he killed the other guys. He had plenty of time to reload, as he did in the bar fight in the beginning of the movie.
From the point of view ... who watched the film and sounded in its history it is mixed between the original film of ( the magnificent seven ) 1960 ... and the film ( PAL Rider ) 1985 for Clint Eastwood almost the same end with the same vengeance with minor changes
The evil boss gets his just rewards. I wonder if people know Disney made a remake of the Magnificent Seven back in 1998? It was titled A BUG'S LIFE. Bad Boss Bug also got his just reward in the end.
Giving Denzel’s character a Once Upon A Time in the West-style background story/twist is a strange decision. It’s not what this film is about. This is not a Death Wish revenge story.
A lot of Akira Kurosawa films were remade into spaghetti westerns. Yojimbo was remade as A Fistful of Dollars. Even Star Wars takes some inspiration from The Hidden Fortress, another Akira Kurosawa film
Roy Rodriguez you see it in the movie that they pick up the enemies weapons, it doesn't show that the weapons are full or not. Even so, it is also a remake of the original.
I man without mercy then begs for it... I wouldn't have even bothered with a final blow, I'd just throw him out to the wilderness to be handled by the elements
✝️ 5:32 - 5:47 Matthew 6:9-13 - Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
If you look beyond the ridiculous video game shootouts, the underlying plot and acting are stellar. It is an enjoyable romp as long as you aren't looking for realism.
You look for realism in a Western. Even some of the greatest westerns looked far from real yet we enjoy westerns because it is what it is...Absolute delights !
There's just one great storyline to all this and it's called "Seven Samurai " and only second is "The Magnificent Seven " the original with Yul Brynner!Period!
True. But then, a low-slung .45 that weighs as much as those old Colts did probably twist in different peoples hands differently. My .45 is much smaller and lighter with a much shorter barrel. The weight is distributed much differently so I cannot imagine carrying it butt forward. I participated in Civil War battle re-enactments back when I was in High School and carried a cap and ball Colt and a muzzle-loading rifle. The Colt was a heavy gun with most of the weight forward. I used an accurate replica of a CSA flap holster and did not wear it in a gunfighter fashion, so again, I have never tried carrying butt first, but I believe I can imagine how it might work well for someone with larger hands than mine. I think of it like holding a baseball bat - everyone has their own method depending on their personal comfort and abilities.
It’s called a cavalry draw. How a plains cavalryman drew his pistol from the old style flap holster. It actually works well. As the pistol is drawn the thumb naturally cocks the hammer. It does however need practice.
It's a ruined scene for me because it's about revenge. In the original, Kambei was only motivated by goodness and the idea of order. Shaving his topknot to rescue a child was a profound expression of this. This movie is too full of personal gripes.
@@uhtredofbebbanburg5493 It didn't make a "ton of money". It made 160 million at the box office and cost 90 million to make. Considering the star power this film had, that's pretty terrible.
@@TheBerylknightmaking 160 million is a lot. It is considered a comercial success. Look it up. It had one of the biggest openings on record for a live-action western. And 162 is a lot more than 90. So that's that
@@uhtredofbebbanburg5493 It didn't "make" 160 million. It cost 90 million to make, so it only made 70 million. You could describe it as moderately successful at best. But this was not a film I would say made a ton of money. Even movies like Blade Runner 2049 - which was considered a box office disappointment - made more money than this movie did.
@@TheBerylknight Well compared to Avatar of course it didn't make a ton of money. But what I meant with a lot of money is that they probably made enough to be considered a success. More than the ordinary person makes. So they don't care about some guy throwing shit at the film calling it names. That was my original point. I still see it as a very good movie, but every person will have a different opinion I suppose
@rockin' rollin' I'm guessing you didn't see it at all. All the actors come from different ethnic backgrounds and the film portrays the characters as such. But then again, maybe you're more into shouting off for no reason.
@@brandoncruise6398 people would trash on unity with ethnic backgrounds all day which is sad but it is what it is . It was a great movie and it didn't hold back some truths and scenes . But i agree
You seem to be unbelievably stupid. "Looks like a pathetically stupid movie". You haven't even watched it and you deliver that dumbass comment without even watching the movie. It says a lot about you. Hear this though, it made a ton of money and nobody cares about your worthless opinion about it. I hope your life is going well though. Peace
Nope, a scene like that is reason to dislike the movie. Well acted. Well photographed. Poorly written. Poorly directed. No heroism. And no internal struggle with guilt or injustice. No triumph, and no failure. I saw implausible character actions in nicely-made period costumes. .
What? Where did you expect heroism, or an internal struggle? And where exactly was triumph and failure needed? Not one of the characters actions here were implausible at all.
Funny how you don't deliver a single argument to back up your dumbass claims, fool. Nobody cares about your opinion the movie made a ton of money and it is for a reason :its awesome.
@@uhtredofbebbanburg5493 YOU don't care about what I said, because you didn't agree or didn't see what I saw. It was not an awesome movie. "Awesome" means more than just being pretty and making profit.
