first time ive heard this cover is was cooking my dinner ,almost burnt everything, just flying with the solo 🤣 I cant play a single cord guitar, but this guy alone made me wish i had started playing in my youth The bass is addicting too, could hear it play alone all day, damn thats a sweet bass
This cover is something for the ages. The whole band is fn tight, the singer is astounding, the drum player and the bass player are in the pocket like nothing, but, and I don't know if I can stress it enough to make it clear, the guitar solo is probably the best solo ever written. PERIOD. The jazz runs, the feeling he gives to every bend and every lick, the fact that he plays 100 mph yet there is no throwaway note, every single note has a meaning and every note makes the solo sound better. The first time I heard the song I was like "wow how are they just in the first half of the video?" Yet after those 4 minutes of utter brilliance, you're still left wanting more. It takes an outworldly talent to attempt a Gilmour solo note by note and make it sound right, but taking it, keeping it gilmourish while elevating it tenfold is something else. Great reacting by the way.
You had the exact same reaction I did. Jaw dropped, laughing because you don’t know how else to feel in the face of greatness! It’s the best cover IMO of any song ever performed.
I am so delighted to see someone react to the Main Squeeze. Why on earth are these guys so unnoticed?! Loved your enthusiasm. Can I humbly suggest their cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It's otherworldly.
The mic is over the singers head, that’s why he sings with his head upwards. They opened for a lot of bands and played the big festivals, and then the big pan-damn-it hit. They put on a bunch of video stream concerts over the past few years. Oh, Maximilian is a beast on that SG.
@@Beldvlmnt they play one song and the drummer is on a fairly big kit. He’s wailing away and 1 of his cymbals falls off. The drummer is dying and the rest of the band are cracking up as they just play through.
I've been following the main squeeze for a few years now, ever since they released this exact have a cigar video. Since then I've dug into their whole discography and I love all their stuff. They jam and improvise a lot, they toured a lot before covid and have started touring again this year. I've seen them live twice and they're amazing. They play differently every time, I guarantee you this was a live take and not a synced recording, you can see the guitarist do a different amazing solo each time he performs this song, or any song. I really recommend you try out some of their original stuff. Only Time, I'll Take Another, Shot, Insecure, Cold Blood, Little Bit, Tank X-ing, or really anything.
That was not David Gilmour who sang the original Have a Cigar that was a guest singer named Roy Harper. At the time Rodger Waters wasn't happy with his attempt at the song or Gilmore so they asked Roy to give it a try they recorded it and that's history!
