At Oakwood University Church: AEOLIANS FALL 2009 CONCERT. Director Dr. Jason Max Ferdinand. The Majesty and Glory of Your Name by Linda Lee Johnson and Tom Fettke. ru-vid.com_cente...
No. Thank you. One of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard and still get emotional every time I hear it. Sang it with South Carolina SingingChurchmen for years. Brought to my attention again this morning as I saw in bulletin of choir singing this coming Sunday. I’m just temporarily leading congregational singing, but I’ll have to step back into choir for this one.
Yes, the accompanist is so talented. While being very astute to the original score, he adds variations of chords and artistic runs which complements these beautiful voices. The accompanist for a singer/group of singers is right up their with the director in inspiring a choir to sing. Yes, well done Oakwood University Aeolians!
I've heard several interpretations of this Tom Fettke piece based on Psalm 8. There's something special about the way these young musicians convey a powerful message. I'm left breathless after they've sung the last "Hallelujah." Such amazing musical talent!!
I thought I had made a comment the other day, but I just want to say that this is not a performance. It's a prayer, prayed by the singers. Perfect dynamics, absolutely perfect.
Deep emotion, intense feeling, exalted emotion. Based on Psalms 8 it just plays upon the keyboard of the human soul with all the stops pulled out. Just marvelous! Beautifully sung.
One of the most celebrated choral anthems to come about in probably the last century receives a world class treatment here. I do not believe that I have heard better!
This Choir and their conductor have made this my favorite song of all time in my life. I have shared it with all of my friends over the years. Thank you All.
Oh My God! The passion of the directors ,the discipline and gifting of the singers brings me to tears! I listen every night before and after pray. God wii certainly bless you as you ministering songs.
Thank you Jason Max Ferdinand for reminding me of the profound beauty of this classic offering of worship and thank you Aeolians for also showing us all how to savor every phrase. Bravo and glory to God!
This is the most moving, artful, and elegant rendition of this piece I've ever heard, and I've heard a lot of renditions It's so good I doubt it can ever be topped. My hat off to the Aeolians and their masterful director.
Pretty nice, but the piano was out of tune and the "added notes on the piano" didn't add to the song at all. The best version out there is Moody Baptist Institute's version. That will make you cry, for sure!
@@canyoubelievethis220 I strongly disagree. The pianist was fabulous, and even if it wasn’t played exactly as the original music was written, the pianist still did an amazing job (he was a student, too!). And they certainly didn’t detract from the song. I agree with Kevin, as this rendition was very artful and elegant. You could feel the power of God moving in the piece, and it was stunning.
I have heard this song many times, but I LOVE this choir's interpretation. Thank you so much. I feel like being lifted up to heaven! Allelujah to the Almighty!
I think this is the very best rendition of this piece i've ever heard..!! I really love your performance..!! Great singers and brilliant conductor...!! Solideo Gloria..! God bless you all..!!
Words can't express how refreshing & inspiring it is to hear & see these young people praising our God! This is the most beautiful and touching version of this song I've ever witnessed, and I just want to listen over and over. God bless each and every person who is a part of this gorgeous performance.
The BEST presentation of this musical selection. Clear diction and beautiful tone quality. The facial and body expressions of the performers exuded total praise and worship. The director, pianist, and singers are second to none of any college choral group in the United States!
I'm not sure how anyone can dislike this piece. I'm no longer Christian, but this rendition is the most beautiful that I've ever heard. I've listened to the Aeolians for most of my life and have always found their music inspiring, soothing and heart wrenching!!! They definitely were created to sing this music!!
+TuskegeeFellow The Aeolians have been inspired by what Jesus has done in their lives. So when they sing they give glory to their Lord and Savior. There are are songs they have sung and truly the angels sing with them to give praise to their Creator. May you have that joy as they have in Jesus. Thanks for your comment.
I have performed this song for years with at concerts and performances but have never cried. This was absolutely beautiful. HALLELUJAH!!! GLORY TO GOD!!!
I listen to this about once per week especially Friday evening as Sabbath begins. It's so beautifully done. Our choir sings it and sure wish we had some of these young people's voices. Outstanding and a blessing. God bless.
Thank you for this awesome performance. In my humble opinion, this is the best interpretation of the song.Highly musical, poignant and most of all, prayerful. The Lord be praised for all of you.
I think that in every single time when people raise their voices in praise to the Lord like you guys did, The angels sit quiet listening the beauty that results from hearts compromissed in to do their best! It's a pleasure and honor be able to hear that and to have the opportunity to feel God close to me listening you guys singing! It was clear in each face of you the compromise and respect. May God Bless you all. Greetings from a brazilian baptist.
Praises. Without a doubt my favorite choral song I ever sang in High School. This rendition makes me wonder if this is what angels sound like in heaven. Simply AMAZING 8 part.
this is truly a wonderful performance of an amazing composition. this piece forever changed my perception of choral singing, standing in the front row as first tenor, hearing and feeling this multitude of voices surrounding me...
not to mention their transition between phrases. God bless those sopranos. This is what artful singing and performance is all about. my comment in ine word. Hallelujah.
There is no doubt that there is talent in this performance. Magnificent conductor and the vocal quality and harmony is the best. All for the Glory of God!
I believe another commenter said this; however, I want to reiterate that this is more than a performance, it's a worship ministry. The anthem itself is so musically and lyrically well put together that it's difficult not to say it's a beautiful song regardless of who sings (performs) it. These young people, under the direction of Dr. Ferdinand with beautiful and power piano and organ accompaniment, took this piece to another level...a level of worship and praise.
Note what the person who WROTE the song with Fettke says - Linda Johnson 1 year ago Thank you so much for this beautiful rendition of the song Tom Fettke and I wrote! Loved it so much! ❤️
Thank you!! This is one of the most beautiful renditions of our song I’ve ever heard!! I’m sure Tom Fettke would join me in thanking you and praising God for you!!
Both of you were truly inspired by the Holy Spirit to see the Majesty and Glory of God's creation. Giving praise to our Creator in the song is glorious. Thanks, God Bless. Please be safe.
murahomesa -CHANNEL OF BLESSINGS You’re very sweet! It’s hard for me to realize that this song was written 40 years ago, and now I’m a 72-year-old Grandma of five!! Time does go by, and heaven is getting closer!!
The most inspired and perfect performance that I've ever heard. Thank you very much, it's made me wonder how most excellent the prayses will be in haven, where we'll all be perfects. God bless you all.
Wow, wow, wow! This rendition is truly spectacular! The shaping of phrasing is certainly magnificent! No signs at all of the breaking up of music sentences, tone colours were exquisite and there was never any show of unclear diction and unmusical dynamic shapes. I can only applaud you all for the brilliant work! God Bless America from a friend in the UK
This is sO beaUtiful! I love ( and wish I could play) the piano run at 5:48. This is by far my favorite song of praise on RU-vid. May God bless these young people & their leaders.
So beautiful, I can't find the words to describe it. The voices, piano, organ and other instruments did a superb job of acknowledging the majesty and glory of our God, who deserves such perfection. A M E N !
